We stayed at the Traders Hotel for 3 nights for the start of our honeymoon after being recommended this hotel by a Trailfinders rep who made the booking for us. After a 13 hour flight we arrived at the hotel at 9am. We were early for check in however we only had to wait 15 minutes for a room to be ready. We had already upgraded to a twin towers view room but we were offered an upgrade to the club room which meant we were on the 31st floor. One floor below the club lounge and two floors below the pool/Sky bar they are the highest rooms possible. We are so glad we upgraded as it gave us breathtaking views of the towers and the park. The upgrade to the club room also meant we had access to the club lounge where complimentary drinks/ snacks are served. They also have a complimentary cocktail evening between 5pm and 7pm every night. It also meant we could have breakfast there which was less crowded than the main buffet. The bed was extremely comfortable and was very welcoming after a long flight and the long days spent exploring the city. Rooms were clean and comfortable. We ate at the hotel 2 out of the 3 nights of our stay and the food was lovely. I'd recommend the Duck with noodles in the restaurant on the 6th floor. We also booked an excursion to the Elephant Sanctuary via the hotel which was arranged with their recommended supplier. I would recommend booking through the hotel as it was hassle free and was one of the highlights of our 10 days in Malaysia. We were the only people on the trip and our guide was very knowledgeable about KL and surrounding towns/villages. On our return journey we asked our tour guide the best was to get to the Batu Caves and he ended up taking us there even though we had not booked this with him. Overall we had a fantastic first few days of our honeymoon here and wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family. Read less

This Hotel is clean efficient and close to many attractions, firstly I should say we relocated here after one day in a near by hotel that really wasn’t acceptable so we had done no research what it would be like. We were not disappointed. I am not really here on holiday just tagging on to my husband who is on a business trip so I have not looked any further than close to the hotel, no tourist attractions etc. We can’t fault the hotel, the rooms I guess are more for business than family holidays, but everyone is made more than welcome, the rooms are basic but have everything you need, a whole bank of plugs for laptops phones iPads etc, the bathrooms are fabulous and well stocked, we decided to go extra and book club class this provides you with free breakfast, absolutely fabulous, free cocktails from 5pm until 7pm with free buffet. Delicious, there is a free buggy to take you the few hundred yards to the shopping Mal and business centres. Or if it’s raining there is an ice underground passage you can take, it is really a couple of minutes walk because the buggy doesn’t operate in the rain, There is a fabulous spa and pool but indoors. The skyline restaurant is very pleasant and serves a wonderful steak. The weather is very unpredictable one minute blazing sun next thunder and lightening so if that frightens you then this is not the place for you. Lots of building work going on all around., the shopping Mal has every conceivable shop you could wish for, pity I don’t like shopping. I am spending my days on my own just meandering around but I don’t feel threatened at all it appears to be a very friendly and safe environment. Read less

The overall experience was less than 5 out of 10. It was great and impressive when I last stayed here 10 years ago. However, it regressed greatly over time, especially the rooms. The unpleasant stale smell of the carpet once stepped out of the elevator on every resident floor. The rooms were outdated and most of the plugs and sockets were yellowish. Seemed kind of risky to use them. The safe deposit box was most probably as old as I am. The touch panel was difficult to control, that's why it auto locked and couldn't be opened afterwards. Toilet flush has this prolonged loud hissing sound every time you press the flush button and it's pretty annoying during the nights, when all you want is some peace and quiet for a good night’s sleep. Fridge chilling system was not working either, everything inside the fridge was actually warmer temperature than the items outside. We were upgraded to a suite room after I brought up some of the issues in the room. The suite was much better, spacious and came with a magnificent view of the twin towers. However, the built in socket on the reading table was too narrow, all our gadget adaptors both Apple and Android could not be inserted. Those designs must be meant for old days adaptors like Nokia, Blackberry...  So we ended up having to share one available socket which was underneath the bedside table, since the other one on the other side of the bed was blocked and not allowed for use. On the first night of our stay in the suite room, the shower control handle fell off too... Couldn't bother to inform anyone as the room switch was supposed to pacify our dissatisfaction in the first place? I seriously think this property need a complete 360 degree overhaul in order to compete with the many new 5 stars establishments in the neighbourhood, which, also offer spectacular view of the twin towers. I chose to stay here mainly because of the sky bar, where I thought I could bring my 18 year old daughter to patron one of the most memorable places I've ever been before in KL (2008 ~ 2009). To our disappointment we're not allowed to enjoy the facility after 7pm due to age restrictions. This is totally unacceptable as we're actually revenue house guest and the swimming pool is located at the same floor. How can you stop guest from using it at the most beautiful moment of sunset. I could see how sad my daughter was and felt embarrassed from being rejected for entry as well. May I suggest that the management should look into this matter (I could see I'm not the only upset parent on TA) either set an area at the sky floor where its children friendly. Now a days, many travellers bring along their teenage kids on holidays. Most non hotel guests who consume alcohol won't go all the way to Traders Hotel for a drink as early as 7pm anyways? If only I knew about the rules in advance I will definitely choose other 5 stars property since I'm Spire Elite ambassador of IHG group and frequent customer of MO next to Traders. On our last day, we got the chance to use the steam bath and sauna before checking out. I was shocked with the size and location of both spa facilities. Its one floor above the sky bar which, you can overlook the pool and bar but it was located at the far end, so tiny, poorly maintained and its UNISEX! We're in Malaysia not Europe eh? there's no specific shower or changing room unlike many other spa facilities that I've tried before, MO, Sheraton, JW Marriot, and Ritz Carlton KL which, separate their spa to men and women with proper shower, changing room and resting room. A total let down with the spa room. Chairs and tables were placed upside down along the way after a long party night of Sky Bar I guess? It's a total scam when you set a high hope seeing the SPA sign in the elevator which been placed at the highest level. It's more like a little toaster and a weird compact space that has installed with an old looking metal releases weak warm steam.  The only PLUS point at Traders was most probably the front line team especially the management team, the housekeeping manager who came to fix the safe deposit box almost immediately after I made the phone call and Michelle Lee the duty manager who handled my concerns. She's courteous, showed genuine care and took all necessary service recovery actions without hesitating at all. The front lobby team at ground floor and the buggy driver were all great as well. Always meet and greet every single individual with a sincere attitude. Thanks to Michelle and other kind and friendly employees at Traders, my frustrations blew away with the wind. All the 3 stars given here will go to the hospitality team of Traders. Yet I will not recommend nor return unless one day the property is fully refurbished up to frequent travellers' expectations and standards. Read less
