Sports bar, dining areas and pool area Our room was the worse - we complained but nothing was actioned about it. Due to a lot of rain while we were there - and us having a family room one of the bathrooms kept smelling like sewage. We had to close the door and place towels at the bottom of the door - still didn’t help. Overall - for the amount they are asking for to stay at the resort - don’t waste your money or time until such time as they start putting that money back into the resort - it desperately needs it Urgently! Let me be clear, Berjaya Langkawi Resort is not for everyone. It's not a resort with all 5-star amenities or shinning new decors or middle of city night life. It's for the nature lovers, the adventurists, one's who prefer serenity and peaceful vacation. We had our 4 night stay in Berjaya Langkawi during early Sep and the experience was completely different from our other vacations. Located right at the foothills in the midst of lush green forest, the resort has its unique chalets. From outside, they may look old mountain cabins, but the inside is quite well maintained with all necessities. It's a different world once we stepped inside and hardly could imagine that we were in the middle of forests. I appreciate the management and staff for their thoughtful observations to keep the tiniest things handy for the guests. Apart from the regular toiletries and locker and all other common stuffs, I was happy to find a torch and insect spray in the closet. Although they were not needed, but we're available. We booked the family chalet which is conjoined of 2 separate bedrooms with individual balconies. The resort is rather sprawling and though we stay away from the main reception hall, it was just a call to get the shuttle buggy at any time of the day. I can assure, we never had to wait more than 5 mins and we must have availed the service not less than 20 times during our stay. The interior pathways are regularly cleared of dry leaves and housekeeping was done immaculately. No issues with the cleanliness of the resort. I can totally understand how difficult it must be to keep such a huge compound clean. Out of the 4 restaurants within the premises, we only had tried out the buffet breakfast and dinner in 2 of their restaurants. Breakfast was nice with mixture of local/Asian cuisine with varieties of western dishes as well. The menu does change everyday and the breakfast was enjoyed by every one of us. The dinner was quite decent on the opposite restaurant in the evening. Almost every evening we had enjoyed the private beach and the clear sea and specially the beach bar that had offered nice chilled beer and cocktails at very reasonable price. I still am missing the drinks by the sea. All this could happen only because of the wonderful staffs of Berjaya. Apart from 1-2 solitary incidents, we were always been well taken care by every staff members. Special thanks to all of them. Trivia to future guests: 1. The resort is 20 mins drive from the airport and can avail prepaid taxi or Grab (alternate service for Uber in S.E Asia) in case if you haven't booked any rental cars. 2. The Oriental Village is 5 mins walk from the reception hall and shuttle bus is available as well. 3. There are some Asian restaurants available in Oriental Village. But they close early and not an option for dinner. 4. There are no 7-Eleven or other convenient stores around. Grab some snacks or bottle of water from outside, in case needed. 5. Grab is the cheaper option than local taxis to commute around the island. Download it for easier ride during your stay. 6. Last but not least, the room wifi service is really good and I didn't expect it to as fast or available all around the resort compound. Read less

The location is very nice and it is a very nice experience to stay in the forest rooms nested in the jungle. We also got a very good service by the people in the reception, they were very helpful to accommodate our requests.
