We arrived at Lagkawi for a 4 night stay from Koh Lipe. Unlike most hotels they offer no transfer facilities for incoming guests. Surprising for a quality hotel. The checkin was less than smooth. We had 3 rooms booked only one was ready despite being past check in time. There was a great deal of difficulty with my paying for all 3 rooms deposits in a single card. They also misplaced the deposit meaning we had a half hour delay leaving. The rooms themselves were charming. Despite having to rig the room key fob to keep the electrics on in the room. We ate in the main restaurant the first night, nice but very expensive for a buffet. My advice is eat at Pahn. No more expensive and the high point of the resort. The beach is nice. The sea calm. Lots of normal jelly fish. Also frequented by the somewhat more dangerous box jelly fish. There is a mangrove walk which is full of rubbish. And when you pass the boundary of the hotel the beach is also filthy. The pool is for a hotel of this size small, you have to sign for towels with fire warnings for not signing them back in. They are. Towels not the Crown Jewels. The beverages here are expensive. Given that langkawi is a duty free island. The shuttle service to the rooms is good from reception, from your room it’s rather hot and miss. Now the monkeys. They have clearly had problems, this happens when you build your hotel in their habitat. There is a trapping facility in the resort. Supposedly to catch and relocate the Alpha males. It seems however they are not relocating but culling. Which is something of a shock. I also fear it is not just the Alphas. One of our rooms had a resident rodent. Not ideal. Overall. You are staying in an area of the Island “as one of our drivers put it only rich people go to”. There is little around the hotel. Apart from the Sky Bridge and the contrived oriental village. I wouldn’t return. The staff are all lovely. The facilities Ok. Worth the money probably not. Read less

Pool area is too small to host all hotel guests. Plenty of monkeys all around the pools as well as on the beach, which makes it impossible to relax. Apart from monkeys there are also stray dogs wandering on the beach area. Very loud transport between the chalets leaving the odor of petrol. Very poor breakfast choice. Very poor internet connection. Plus for friendly and helpful staff. Read less

No smile and we were told in a very cold manner that we have to wait for an hour before the room is ready. The other stafff try hard to please. We had an individual bugalow that is attached. A bit of a view to the ocean. Nice way to relax and enjoy the scenery. Room is clean and spacious. Overall the facility is showing its age. Buggy to the lobby arrive promptly when asked. One thing to improve upon. They could change their diesel buggy to electrical ones. This will certainly help reduce the noise and pollution. Their Thail restaurant has a great ocean view but they have to lower the shades because of the wind. So you end up not seeing much of the ocean in an ocean view restaurant. Worst of all is the food. Their cooking is so amatuer and I probably can do a better job than them. It certainly does not taste Thai cooking at all. Very disappointed. With the premium price charged, it is way over priced. I certainly will not go back there. Read less

Just returned from a 12 night stay. We had a rainforest studio which was extremely comfortable and clean with a lovely private balcony overlooking the rainforest. The bed was huge and very comfortable and we had plenty of storage space, safe, and a nice bathroom with shower and bath. Toiletries and bottled water are supplied daily. We were on a b&b basis and there was a good choice of European and Asian dishes to chose from. We only ate in the Thai restaurant in the evening which was excellent and the sunsets are beautiful from here. We hired a car for the duration of our holiday from the airport and the driving was easy with quiet roads and good road signs, it’s almost impossible to get lost on Langkawai. Going back to the Berjaya, if you are a nature lover this is the perfect place as we saw loads of wildlife, flying lemurs, monitor lizards, pied oriental hornbills, long tailed macaques and dusky leaf monkeys which were beautiful. The highlight was when we had been swimming at the end of the private beach and saw a group of sea otters. The sea is lovely and warm and very calm and a nice change from the pool. We would definitely recommend this hotel and could not fault it in any way. Looking forward to our next trip here. Read less
