We came here to celebrate my son's n husband's birthday and I requested if they could prepare a complimentary birthday cake for them. Was quite surprised to hear that we can only get a slice of cake from the restaurant when we dine there. My daughter's birthday is in December n we always celebrate overseas and most hotels are very happy to offer cakes n nice touches to make the occasion memorable. I expected Shangri-la to be better and guess it's not the same everywhere. Kids club was a little too run down n looks old. That said, I think the place is nice though old n some of the staff are really friendly too esp concierge n rangers. Read less

We absolutely loved our stay at this resort which is about 45mins drive from KK city. It’s a great retreat away from the hustle bustle of city living. This resort is equipped with plenty of activities for both young and old! The last time we stayed was during our honeymoon and this time we were back with our toddler who turned 2 during our stay here. He had a fabulous time exploring the swimming pool (as he says it : nice and warm - perfect temp for our little gentleman), cool zone kids club (kids below 5 yrs old have to be accompanied by a guardian or you can hire a babysitter for a fee) our son absolutely loved the outdoor sand pit and indoor toddler room, adventure point (there’s wall climbing for those who are brave to brace the challenge) and the very longgggg stretch of soft, white sandy beach! They do have ATV and horse riding too. All activity area has a counter that provides mosquito repellent, sunblock and even balms for after-bites too! Their lifeguards are very attentive and strict : for our safety always. Also, do let the resort know prior to your visit if you’re travelling with infant/toddler as they’ll prepare baby cot & baby amenities too if available. What a great thought by the management (two thumbs up for that). Thanks for making our stay such a memorable one. All service staff were a delight and always welcoming with such pleasant smiles! We truly felt the Rasa Ria ambience. Counting the days to our next visit.. :) Ps : we stayed in the Garden Wing deluxe sea view. Wish to sit at the balcony and admire the view more (sunset is absolutely fantastic!). Hope to stay longer the next round. Read less

Fantastic resort, even though all inclusive options would have been desirable. We ate Naan Indian restaurant 3 out of 4 nights, very tasty! The resort lies just next to Rasa Ria reserves, with plenty of exciting adventures!

This is a really lovely hotel but please be aware that if you are a person that likes to sit on the beach this is not for you. The beach is beautiful but is a long way to get to the sea. Also, there are lots of jelly fish so you cannot swim in the sea. Food is good but it does work out quite expensive as there is no all inclusive packages. Indian and Japanese restaurants are exceptional. Make sure you keep receipts for your bills just to double check. This hotel is quite out of the way. About an hour from the airport. Like most hotels pool bar staff are there all time serving but this was not always the case especially as you are paying for drinks. Staff are very nice and helpful. If you want to go and see the orangutans this is an expensive trip - a day travelling and stay. We did not do this trip but people that we met that had gone were a bit disappointed as it was like visiting a zoo. If you came to this hotel expecting to see lots of animals we actually saw more in Langkawi roaming round. Trip to mangroves is worth the trip Read less
