昨年末ガーデンウィングとオーシャンウィングに計5泊しました。 その時に感じたことです。長文失礼します。 We stayed in Garden Wing and Ocean Wing on Year end holiday. We are really looking forward to our stay, but was disappointed with our stay. Good ・Ocean Wing Room was very Nice. ・Ocean Wing pool was not jammed and comfortable. ・Indian Food was great. ・Near very good seafood restaurant. Disappointed ・Took too much time to check in. We were told to receive a call after room is ready, but never received the call. We found out our room was ready by asking the front desk by our self. ・Pool side restaurant at Garden wing took too much time to serve customer. ・On New Year eve dinner, we booked Italian restaurant. Booked in advance and checked if there will be Alcarte menu on that day. We were told there will be Alacarte menu, but only set menu was available. Set menu did not meet the price we paid. We requested for water number of times, but never was served. ・When we moved from Garden Wing Room to Ocean Wing Room, Porter just handed as the room key with out any explanation. Luggage never came until we call. ・No welcome drink, no farewell song. ・We booked for Transportation from Resort to Airport. I have requested for Booster seat for my son and confirmed again day before we are leaving, But it wasn't set to the car. Car also had seat belt tied with a band, and very difficult to use. We expect more comfortable car, if we are booking transportation from Shangri-la. ・After we came back, I received E-mail from Rasa ria saying that we opened a bottle of wine and forgot to charge us. Even though we never saw or opened any wine in our room. They did withdraw the charge, but we were very disappointed with this. I have stayed in Shangri-la at Singapore and KL, but we didn't expect this kind of service from Hotel as famous as Shangri-La. Never from other 5 star hotel. We love Shangri-la group, so we hope there will be improvement. Read less

We stayed here for a week and the staff were awesome, nothing was too much trouble. We had three rooms on the ground floor of the ocean wing but our room 1804 had very little vegetation at the back of the terrace which was great for the view but not so good for privacy, the other two were fine. we asked to move and were moved up one floor to 2802 which was perfect. We loved the large balcony with outside bath and big circular lounge for two. The room itself was large with nice bathroom huge bed free minibar and more. We had booked return flights to Sandakan to see the orang-utans etc, there and back in a day. We flew out on the first flight at 7:15am and returned on afternoon flight at 5:10pm. We hadn't booked any tours as they seemed expensive and we thought we might be able to arrange a taxi or a driver. We asked the concierge and he arranged everything for us. We had a private driver with a car suitable for the six of us (Proton people mover) who met us at the airport took us to the War Memorial, Orang-utans, Proboscis monkeys, lunch, sun bears and the buddhist temple and still had us back on time for our flight despite heavy traffic due to an accident. Our driver was excellent, spoke great English and filled in the gaps on the sites we visited. The hotel arranged pastries and a juice box in the morning as we had to leave the hotel very early (5am) as the school rush starts early and some kids start school between 6am and 7am and we went on a school day so traffic would be heavy. We arrived in plenty of time but would advise taking advice of hotel if you take this option. This option worked out about a third of the cost of a tour for six people. Message me for more info if you're interested. Hotel also organised a diving excursion through the concierge who ensured we had a boat to ourselves, group of 5. The food options were great too and not crowded, possibly due to time of year. Seperate reviews coming for the restaurants at the resort. We had breakfast in the Italian restaurant on the ocean side of the resort which staff said had less options than larger one on other side of resort but we found it had every option we wanted and many more. The pool is great and the policy of being for ocean rooms only is policed by life guards. Highly recommended! Don'y worry about distance from KK, hotel transfer to KK is about 80MYR (AUD$28) one way and a Grab Taxi (like Uber so download the app) was about 100MYR (AUD$36). We stopped in KK for dinner on way back from Sandakan and caught Grab Taxi right outside arrivals via the app (Special spot for grab taxis) into KK for dinner and a second one to Shangri-La after dinner, very easy. We have chosen Shangri-La to celebrate our 50th anniversary this year. Overall assessment on quality of service and facilities falls within expectations but not superiorly as good as we had stayed with other resorts in Bali, Singapore, Phuket. Checked in was initially disappointed with an unimpressive room, and later reallocated to a higher floor having to wait 3 hours for that room made available. Most impressive was the catering and staff at the cafe Terrace. The encounter at the Japanese restaurant was unfavourable, the tapan yaki/mountain choice of foods were tasteless, small portions, expensive. There was no showmanship of cooking and presentation, chefs need training in this aspect. We hope to get better experience with Shangri-La in Kuala Lumpur in coming trip from 11th January for five nights. Richard and Jennie Chung/Sydney. Read less

We stayed 9 nights in an Ocean Wing Junior Suite with the garden view. We arrived very late on our first night having travelled from the UK straight there. We had an airport transfer with someone to meet us at the airport and it was a good hour to get to the hotel. This was so much appreciated as we were very tired. We were welcomed on arrival despite the late hour and they kindly let us just go straight to the room to sleep and let us check in the following morning after breakfast. Breakfast in Oceano was excellent. The choice, food quality and the service was exceptional. Check in was fine. The room we stayed in was lovely and spacious. We had an array of fresh fruits and also some very nice dried ones. Everything in the fridge i.e. soft drinks and cupboard i.e. pringles and nuts were complementary and replaced daily. The balcony was huge and we spent a lot of time there relaxing. The view was a mix of garden, beach and pool. There were a lot of mosquitos but we expected that. It was a wonderful place for wildlife. I watched birds from the balcony and also went on a bird watching walk at 6.15am from the excellent Discovery Centre to the Golf Course area. It was worth the early start as we saw not only many birds but also the otters and monitor lizards there. I really enjoyed it. We wanted to do the jungle walks but the weather was not in our favour and was very wet, so we had to cancel. I would love to come again but would be better prepared with walking boots and the right clothing. The pool was excellent for us as although we are both reasonable swimmers, we don't like being out of our depth and the depth was consistent. It was exclusive to the Ocean Wing so it was fairly quiet and perfect for swimming. The only thing which let this hotel down for us was trying to get an evening meal. We loved the Coffee Terrace but it was only open 3 nights out of 9 during our stay. We had two excellent buffets and one a la carte meal and the food and service were great. We had 3 meals at Oceano, two of which were pizzas and were very good. One was pasta which was terrible. Lasagne was a huge slab. Pasta with pesto was thick and chewy. No sides offered so the pasta was on its own. Most of the meals there were very expensive. We don't like curry but Naan restaurant was open everyday as was Oceano. The other restaurant was Asian food which we didn't really like. The Lounge did burgers which we don't like. We tried the dine in menu but the meal we had was the worst meal we have ever had and by far the worst value. Chicken breasts in a mushroom sauce with garlic mash and green beans sounded good on the menu but in reality it was two tiny pieces of dried up chicken with no sauce as the scant amount had dried upon the plate and the garlic mash was a 3cm circle with the merest scraping of potato and two 1cm pieces of green bean stuck into it. It was a disgrace. Another day we booked afternoon tea in the Lounge in the Garden Wing. We thought by booking that they would have everything ready but when we got there they had no idea. So we waited ages. Eventually the tea arrived but not the food. We had finished all the tea by the time the food came. It was strange that next to the tuna buns were curry puffs! The tuna was a bit sloppy. The service was poor. Overall this hotel is a perfect place to relax in a beautiful peaceful setting with a good beach and pool. There are enough activities to keep you occupied. It's quite remote so not near much and a long way from Kota Kinabalu. The staff generally are lovely, always greet you with a smile and are only too happy to please you. Although we have stayed in many Shangri la hotels, it was our first visit to this one. Despite the food setbacks, we thoroughly enjoyed our time there and would like to return. Just make sure the Coffee Terrace is open every day! Read less
