PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The hotel

Rubbing shoulders with Malaysian restaurants and global food chains, chic boutiques and intoxicating markets, and eclectic entertainment spots, PARKROYAL Kuala Lumpur is simultaneously local and international. That’s also reflected in its décor, its amenities (like the high-speed internet and chic al fresco pool zone), and its dining venues, where Malaysian menus mingle with Japanese fine dining and Western favourites, including ice creams, cakes, and pastries at Hot Gossip. Just moments from Bukit Bintang monorail station, and near MRT and GO KL bus connections, you could explore KL with ease – but you’re also within five minutes’ walk of five major malls if you’d rather shop than sightsee.

This hotel has excellent location and suitable facilities. The rooms are a little dated and it would be good if rooms had walk in showers. Due to the Corona Virus I decided to eat at the hotel throughout the 2 day stay and found food and service to be very good. In fact I enjoyed the BEST SATAYS I have ever had, and that includes those served on Malaysia Airlines business class flights. Thank you chef Zamani. Service and quality of drinks in the lobby lounge were also excellent. I was happy that when entering the hotel on ALL occasions my temperature was taken to ensure that my personal safety, and that of others in the hotel was a priority. I thought that throughout the hotel staff were very good with about 2 exceptions. Front desk and bellmen showed a great sense of attention and in a friendly and efficient manner. I would happily return to this hotel again if ever i n KL. Read less

We stayed here in early March on the recommendation of friends, and the convenient location in Bukit Bintang. My best advice to current travellers is to request a room well away from the wing that has views looking down on the swimming pool. The noise coming from our room from the current construction was so loud it was not possible to sleep during the mid afternoon, and the room actually vibrated as a result. The room itself appeared tired and in need of a renovation with a musty smell with very few power points, none near the bed. The hotel thankfully relocated us to another room on the wing facing Jalan Imbi which was much quieter. If staying here it is a must to request a room well away from the pool end of the hotel, otherwise I recommend for its location and value for money. Read less

The view of the city from the window was beautiful. The addition of a kettle and free bottled water in the room was a nice touch, along with the added safety information. The staff were all very helpful, especially the ones taking my temperature at the front door. The hotel restaurant had a wide variety of food available, especially at breakfast. This could be improved by adding a note to specify what was vegetarian and what was not. For a more in depth review of this hotel and Kuala Lumpur, feel free to visit my blog. Read less

Downtown Kuala Lumper is about 70 kilometres east of KLIA the International Airport. We decided to take a taxi directly from the airport to our hotel which cost about 100 ringgit. – around £20. The taxi journey took about 45 minutes, although it could be longer than this in heavy traffic. Although there are alternatives, such as using the express train, the relatively low cost of a taxi for two people with luggage made it the most attractive option for us. You buy a voucher from the transport desk in the Arrivals Hall and know therefore exactly what the price is going to be . The Park Royal hotel is located close to the Buckit Bingtang monorail station which connects directly to KL Sentral. Although using public transport is a very inexpensive way to get around the city, costing less than £1 per journey; in the end the low cost of taxis was an attractive option for us. We tended to use them directly from our hotel to where we wanted to go. Don’t even think about walking around the city. It is very hot and confusing. Typical taxi fares from the Park Royal hotel to main attractions were about 25 ringgit that's £5. The Park Royal hotel has a large spacious entrance area with a helpful and friendly reception staff and a very helpful and knowledgeable concierge. The concierge can recommend trips - although the cost is quite high compared to going to the attractions yourself. The lower lobby restaurant downstairs served an excellent breakfast catering for English, Continental, Indian and Chinese tastes. There was plenty of choice and exceptional attentive service. The only grumble was that the coffee never seemed hot enough! On the 6th floor is a lovely 15-20m swimming pool with a large area for sunbathing and lying on sunbeds. Although there is quite noisy construction work going on nearby, it was a great place to swim and relax from 7am to 8pm! The hotel also has its own gym. Our bedroom was large with a double bed that could accommodate three people, a large screen TV, good air conditioning, a small fridge, tea and coffee making facilities, a hair dryer, a good sized wardrobe, a safe and desk to work from with a desk light. Power points in Kuala Lumpur are the same as the UK so no need for an international plug. Our bathroom was well equipped and had a bath as well as a shower and a helpful line for drying clothes. Normal hotel toiletries too. Just beware of traffic noise from the nearby main roads. Even on Floor 16 the traffic was noticeable late at night. Nevertheless, we liked the Park Royal. It was booked for us by Trailfinders as a part of our flight package and it fitted the bill very well. Nearby is Chinatown where there is a fabulous range of cheap restaurant.s Across the road is a 7-11 shop - very useful for topping up on biscuits, milk and so on. Up the road is a Starbucks, Sportsdirect.com and a range of other clothing shops . There are two shopping malls close by to keep anybody happy for as long as they wanted! (Lots of eating places thee too!) Read less
