The hotel

A worthy member of the upscale Shangri-La family, this luxury Malaysian hotel embodies the group’s legendary qualities: decadent styling, exquisite dining, a catalogue of glamourous rooms and suites, and an elite and desirable setting. A fantastic hotel with beautiful hardware and great staffs. We got the Family Premier Suite 2525 for a staycation. Room was well appointed and well maintained. As per the package, the staffs have arranged for a camp tent in the room for the kids, along with kids amenities, kid sized robes and slippers. What we were most impressed with however are the kids activities running for in house guests. Although there was no kids club, there was an almost full day programme for the kids. And best of all, many of these are outdoor and active learning activities! Marsy was a fantastic host, and both our kids had heaps of fun and made quite a few friends. We pretty much kicked back as Marsy and team took the kids through the activities. We would also like to thank the restaurant staffs for the fantastic kitchen tour and cooking session. We were avid Marriot staycationers, but these activities might be just the thing to get us coming back to Shang KL again. The other highlights are the breakfast and horizon club. It's one of the few exec lounges with a dedicated family zone ❤️ that serve kids menu during cocktail hours. Staffs here are prompt and conscientious, making this one of our best stays in 2019. My husband and I stayed just one night as a quick staycation. He's been working so hard and so I thought why not! I was quite happy to see that they have 2 security check points before even entering the main lobby. Safety is important to me, it seems. Upon entering the lobby we were greeted multiple times and shown to the check-in desk. We received very friendly service from the woman behind the desk, and then shown up to our rooms (I was very excited by the concept of a lift man, my husband however made it clear to me that this is the norm in a fancy hotel - still exciting though...😂). The lobby and halls are decorated so beautifully, and the room was a continuation of that. I'll admit I've stayed in bigger hotel rooms, but it became apparent that in this case, size doesn't matter! During our stay we made use of the spa which had a steam room, sauna and jacuzzi. They also had one of those machines that speed dried your swimwear, which I also found very exciting. As you can tell, I get excited easily 😂 I am not one for negative comments but I do want to be honest in my reviews, so I will say that I expected the spa area to be bigger with a few more facilities than it was/had considering the size of the hotel. We also went out for dinner that night in Pavilion, which is under 10 minutes away from the hotel by Grabcar. The bed in the room was very comfortable, pillows included, which is surprising as it's usually difficult for me to find pillows that I find comfortable. We slept very well. In the morning we enjoyed the buffet style breakfast. They served a variety of foods both local and continental. Of course we are in Asia so I would expect the food to be more of the local cuisine, however it would have been nice if there were a few more continental options like pastries or toast etc. We checked out at lunchtime, and it was an easy checkout. For those with foreign passports, they charge you an extra RM10 upon leaving. I just paid that when I arrived to save me settling more payments when we left. Overall I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Shangri-La(hhhh). Corny, I know. I would definitely go back and stay there again. Read less

I was stay in for 2 nights and was upset with the TV channels images/pictures quality, also the TV size. The room is nice and big, bed is well enough with a comfort pillows. But the TV's size must be upgraded since distance from bed is quite far, and it's images/pictures on TV was a blur. Thanks
