Stayed here for a fortnight at the end of last year. I’m pretty sure that unlike what other reviews claim this place doesn’t market itself as a 5 star resort but more represents incredible value and luxury at low cost being a fraction of the cost of places like the Four Seasons and offering some good deals. We had a ‘stay more’ package arranged through the hotel that gave us breakfast daily, money off food and drinks and a delicious meal at the over water Thai Restaurant one night. We stayed in a rainforest chalet which was great with the sounds of the jungle day and night. We were able to spot monkeys, birds, frogs and even had a regular visit form a flying lemur on a tree outside our balcony! The breakfast was great, a wide choice of buffet dishes both local and international and freshly cooked to order pancake and egg stations. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel but we never tend to preferring to venture out. The pool area is nice and the private beach is stunning with views of the mountains, cable car, jungle and stilted rooms on the water, so peaceful you could float there for hours. We saw lizards and even a family of sea otters at he beach and eagles soaring overhead with hornbills flying round the pool, this is truly a place for nature lovers. Well positioned close to the Oriental village and cable car. The staff were very helpful when my girlfriend contacted some strange mysterious skin condition and the on site GP assessed her, staff then took us to the hospital and stayed with us for hours before bringing us back well above and beyond. The next day they left chocolates in the room as a get well soon gesture. All in all this is a paradise retreat that offers incredible value and true relaxation in a nature wonderland. Read less

Food was average nothing great about it . But for a huge family resort it’s understandable. Beach was nice and pristine , pool area was also big. There is this nice picturesque plunge pool in Taaras spa which you can visit & take some nice pics. Cant use it though as its reserved for Spa clients. Read less

The Villas was good nothing to complain. Clean comfortable slept well.Shuttle service was quick. If not one can take a walk and enjoy the natural surroundings. Most people rent cars to move around the island. This time of the year is considered Low Season and can get good bargain for car rental. There are plenty to do on the island so check website and plan your day. Food on the island is just so so , so dont expect too much. Liquors and Beers are cheap on the island , grab a bottle and enjoy in your Villa. There are mosquitoes so we sat inside instead of the Villa balcony. We had some drinks at their bar with a Filipino Band and it was Ok. We went to the 7 Waterfalls , one of the Island's attractions. We hike up , about 20 minutes , we changed and went to the upper side of the waterfalls and enjoyed the cool water.Bring your own towels. We also enjoyed a few beers at one of the beach bar I think its call ThirstDay , good place to chill out. Berjaya is a little far out from the city so you can consider to rent a car would be better. Not too far from the airport, Berjaya is a really big resort but it doesn't feel like it! Distances between lobby/restaurants and chalets differ greatly but for those not wanting to walk there are little shuttle vehicles to cart you around. We had a chalet with a sea view, next to us the rain forest, home to monkeys and other creatures. Amazing to be woken by the monkey parade along the railing of the balcony. The inside of the chalet was big enough and comfortable to stay during a big monsoon rain. The furniture isn't new but we didn't have any complaints. The pool is lovely, luckily no-one there to do the towel reservation trick. Generally we encountered people from all sort of different countries, some Australians, which we enjoyed. The food in the main restaurant was great, super variety in buffets! There are also other restaurants, the Thai but if you had full board the choice was too limited, a Chinese which we did not visit and a Brasserie which was fantastic for breakfast and lunch. For the latter you had a maximum amount you could spend if you have booked full board. Otherwise you just paid the difference. In the evening there were only two choices of set meals which got boring quickly. The view over the water is perfect. The staff was very friendly and they made us feel so welcome and at home! They have a great system of "Catch me at my best!" where guests can comment on cards who is doing a great job: Positive reinforcement instead of complaints! Good idea! The area is a bit off the beating track. During Ramadan there are no outside restaurants in the evening. Oriental village and Sky bridge are nearby, the Telagu Tujuh waterfall a nice excursion we walked to. The only thing we really didn't like at all was the jazzy music playing everywhere. We enjoyed the stay and loved the quietness (off season). Thanks for making our holiday a real nice one! Read less
