Westin Langkawi Resort & Spa

Langkawi, Malaysia

The hotel

In a magical setting on Langkawi Island, you will feel your senses come alive at the Westin. The aromatic scent of white tea candles fills the air with guest rooms and villas featuring serene modern décor and that all important signature Heavenly Bed®! The Heavenly Spa™ is also … well, a slice of heaven, beautifully situated on the beachfront and offering a full and tempting range of beauty treatments guaranteed to chase those cares away. There’s not one but four tantalising swimming pools to choose from, including the ocean rock pool surrounded by lush tropical foliage, the infinity pool blurring the boundaries between the azure water and the deep blue sky and the spa pool. Down at the beach, there are water sports in abundance and for keep-fit fans, the WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio is perhaps the best on the island. Other sports pursuits include tennis and squash, or simply grab a cocktail from the bar and top up that tan! Dining at the Westin is another happy learning curve combining Malaysian hospitality, Asian Pacific cuisine and international favourites. Seasonal Tastes is definitely a place to see and be seen, feasting on gourmet delights al fresco or in a private crystal cove booth whilst Tide serves gourmet pizzas and succulent seafood on Parisian platters with majestic views over the Andaman Sea.

Will definitely return and stay longer next time! Read less

Main pool got a bit busy, but there are 4 pools, so lots to choose from. the only slight complaint is there is not a big selection of places to eat. There are really only 2 restaurants - one doing a buffet and then one doing a range of other dishes. Would be nice to have a bit more choice with maybe a Japanese, Chinese or thai restaurant to add a bit of variety. However the resort is connected to the St. Regis next door, and you can go there and charge things to your room at the Westin, that that adds options Read less

It’s been a few months but I still have many fond memories of this lovely stay at the Westin. We booked the Beachfront Villa, and so had complimentary airport transfer. It was a good Toyota SUV ride from the airport, no more than 30mins. The villa was amazing, not only on how spacious and well-kept it was (separate kitchen, large bathroom, make up area, patio), but also the additional things they provided - a children’s tent, floats (for the nice pool), stuffed monkeys, snacks and cakes, etc. While we enjoyed our own pool, there was also the children’s wading pool that children would enjoy. Then there’s a small but decent enough (for a resort) “kids club” play room to keep the little ones entertained. All restaurants have baby chairs and children’s cutlery, with kids-friendly options. Speaking of restaurants, the food was quite delicious, from the buffet restaurant (Seasonal Tastes) to the beachside restaurant (Tide, which changes theme from time to time; it was Mediterranean when we were there). The buffers at Seasonal Tastes were satisfying, whether breakfast or lunch. The Langkawi Parade Mall was like an extension of the hotel, because all you need is to hop on the complimentary shuttle service for a short 5min ride. There’s a pharmacy, a few restaurants (eg. Papparich and McDonald’s), and of course the supermarket to stock up on drinks, snacks, and cheap chocolates. Several sports shops as well, but they were not that much cheaper than Singapore or KL. It’s a good enough place if you don’t plan to do much shopping and just need to laze around outside the hotel. Last but not least, service was top notch. Genuine, sincere Malaysian hospitality at its best, with everyone very keen to go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We used a lot of the buggy service to get us around because of our small kids, and the staff were always fetching us with a huge smile on their faces and ready to engage us. Thank you Westin. Although I’ve ditched the Marriott membership ever since it replaced the far superior Starwood programme (dropping SPG Gold that I had faithfully maintained for 8 years), I would likely still make a return visit to this property.
