A hotel with great facilities, especially for children's entertainment equipment. Breakfast is also very rich, with a variety of options. The seaside scenery of the hotel is also very good, especially this year, compared with last year, the sea water and beach are much cleaner.

We stayed at the Hard Rock hotel in Penang as the first part (5 days) of a 2 week trip to Malaysia. The second part being a 7 night stay at Cenang Beach, Langkawi (which was much nicer than Penang in my opinion). The Hard Rock hotel made the stay in Penang an enjoyable one. Sometimes, as you would expect, there's a bit of doof-doof music around the pool which gets a bit tiresome, but hey, it is the hard rock hotel. The band Superfrenz (playing in the foyer/entertainment area) on a Friday & Saturday night were great. The staff are all excellent, smiling and welcoming. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Drinks are expensive. There is a small convenience shop across the road that sells beer. With that and duty your duty free liquor, you're covered. The pool is beautiful. Great water slides and children area. On the more adult side the Pool bar is great. Overall the Hard Rock is a really nice hotel that caters families mostly. This is not a peaceful resort. :-) Read less

Arriving back at the resort after registration at 2.30pm, we found that our rooms were ready. I took 2 rooms as mum in law was also following. We booked the seaview room and it was worth it. The view was spectacular. Its nice to wake up in the morning to view of the ocean without any obstruction.  It was worth the  extra money spent. We got the rooms on the 4th floor. Room was modernly decorated, spacious and very clean. The rooms had all the normal amenities that a five star hotel would have. There's also movie on demand with all the latest movies anytime you want. No need to follow a schedule. But we didnt spend much time in the room. The kids loved the pool as there were slides and little fountains at the kids section. There are plenty of lifeguards around and as with all staff at Hard Rock Penang. They were very friendly. There's also two deeper adults pools side by side the kids pool. But we spend our time at the kids pool. The resort is also on a nice beach but we didn't swim in the sea cause of jelly fish. Luckily a lifeguard was kind enough to warn us. Apart from the pool there is Gym, Kids Room with hourly activities for the younger kids without their parents. A Tween club with video games, snooker and foosball for the teenagers. There's also a few restaurants like a Pizzaria on the beach.  The breakfast was awesome. There were so much choices to choose from. Even the cook that was doing the omelette, prepared perfectly. I haven't seen a omelette prepared this way in such a long time. Thought those skills a were gone with the older chefs. Kudos to the culinary team. On the last day of our stay, we had to pack our breakfast as Malaysia was on lockdown. Here you could see the helpfulness of all the staff. They made the process so easy for everyone. Thanks guys. One thing we noticed was that the bus service in Penang especially on the Ferringhi Beach was very frequent. So transportation wouldn't be a problem. My Verdict A wonderful hotel and full of experience. Definitely will come again. Overall our stay has been pleasant  one and staff were great The staff are an absolute asset. They were always ready to help and knew their stuff. Didn't go the Hard Rock Cafe as we had little kids with us. To the team at Hard Rock Penang. YOU GUYS REALLY ROCK!!!!  Read less

Very suitable for family with young children. Can improve Teens Club; limited game titles. Quality of cake is average and will be good if Nonya kueh or cake can be added. Price alcoholic drinks is on the high side. Overall is still a place to stay to get away from city life.
