Furama City Centre Singapore

Singapore, Asia and Far East

The hotel

A playful pad for your stay in Singapore, this urban escape’s fun design extends from its iconic façade to its al fresco pool zone (set among the high rises) and its bright and bold lobby, where pops of colour reveal its sense of humour. It may be fun in design, but its location is something serious – right in the buzz and beauty of Chinatown. Not only close to the district’s historic shop-houses, fragrant restaurants, and warren of lantern-strung lanes, Furama City Centre is also just 10 minutes’ walk from the shops, eateries, and entertainment of Clarke Quay and close to an MRT connection for exploring the city.

Don't bother 3- The rooms are basic 4- There was renovations happening, we were not informed when we made the booking, and were informed only when we checked in - it was right out of our window. 5- The pool access was like a amaze you needed a treasure map for it 6- The showers took a lifetime to get warm 7- The bathrobes were see through and smelled 8- The safe kept locking us out 9- The toilet needed three flushes to finish the job 10- It is very old property and falling apart We pre-booked (2 months in advance) two connected rooms (we had my 85 yo elderly mother in-law with us. with one of them to have a crib, we even fully paid for it, we arrived at 8pm, The rooms were not ready, there was no crib until and they put us in rooms 4 doors apart. We only got the crib 2 hours later (imagine your below one yo child been on a plane for 8 hours and have not slept for 15 hours) she was exhausted and she could not sleep as the interruptions were happening. The renovation work was not mentioned on the site when we booked, so we were not given the chance to chose to accept the noise of the building Having my elderly mother in law 4 doors down the corridor even-though we requested the connected room way in advance, made her very anxious and she was unable to sleep nor enjoy her stay as she was terrified if she needed anything and we can not get to her fast (she slept fully clothed from the fear that someone would come to her and she cant call for help) Read less

Revisit the hotel 2 years later. Despite its location and cheaper rent, I feel the hotel is deteriorating in certain areas. 1. The hotel uses a new AV system to replace the old TV system. However it is difficult to use, only Mediacorp and CCTV channels are available, and the signal is always interrupted  2. The in house WiFi only has a fair use limit of 4GB. Do you think this is sufficient? (Though you can reconnect afterwards) 3. The ventilation system of the corridor should be improved. Read less

The corridors smelled strongly of damp, the room was not so bad but still damp. Apart from that, the room was fine - comfortable and a good size for Singapore. We stayed on the 4th floor, with a view of a concrete car park. We got a good price for the room so it was reasonably good value for money (by Singapore standards). We didn't have any meals at the hotel - the breakfast was quite pricey so we gave it a miss. Read less
