Furama City Centre Singapore

Singapore, Asia and Far East

The hotel

A playful pad for your stay in Singapore, this urban escape’s fun design extends from its iconic façade to its al fresco pool zone (set among the high rises) and its bright and bold lobby, where pops of colour reveal its sense of humour. It may be fun in design, but its location is something serious – right in the buzz and beauty of Chinatown. Not only close to the district’s historic shop-houses, fragrant restaurants, and warren of lantern-strung lanes, Furama City Centre is also just 10 minutes’ walk from the shops, eateries, and entertainment of Clarke Quay and close to an MRT connection for exploring the city.

I do not know who designed the interior, but they have no idea about lighting: our living room is painted a military grey with two shy ceiling lights vying with each other to cast a meagre Bob Cratchit glow. The food is excellent, and the service is charming and delightful. The gym, however, is the poorest I have ever encountered: a glorified corridor on the fifth floor, accessed by way of mud painted prison floors. Two treadmills, a lat pulldown, and some weights grace the gym, which comprises wall mirrors to add spacial effect. The television, which is viewed backwards from a mirror, does not work. The pool is nicely designed, and unremarkable..... Read less

Had a staycation on the last week of march. Stayed over the executive club room for 2 nights. Stayed on the top level. Nice view of the singapore city. Negative: - Pillows too soft - No bidet; not everyone wipe after using the toilet. Some people wash with water. So it is super inconvenient when bidet is not available. - No rack or shelves in the shower for us to put our shampoo or soap. In the end have to place it on the floor. - Usually I don’t really notice these things but the area infront of the Tv up till where they placed the kettle was dusty like it was never been wiped. - TV; we only managed to watch local channel. Was told that netflix, youtube was available but none of it worked. Maintenance fixed twice but when he left, it was back to square one. Positive: - View was amazing, especially at night. - Room was big, spacious. - Staff very friendly. - Breakfast, ok. So overall, I was disappointment due to the fact that I paid the extra bucks for a better room but it didn’t live up to my expectations, at all. 4 star for the staff else I will only rate it 3 star. Did a short staycation and chose to stay in the Premiere Club Room, main difference is that there is a really nice bath tub and a separate shower. The bed is very comfortable that my husband says its good cos he didn't get a backache (He's very particular about beds). They also allow you to choose the pillow type. Unfortunately, we didn't have proper shower condiments like shampoo, conditioner, moisturizer. They gave us the same bar soap for the sink and the toilet. The hot water is crazy hot everytime. We didn't bother asking for it cos we just made do with it. The check in service really needs improvement as my husband felt that the service staff was just trying to chase him off. Disappointing. And when they delivered the pillow and also the bucket of ice/glasses we requested, it was done without even greeting and more of a "here u go and bye" kind of attitude. We wanted to tip but he rushed off, so I guess we saved on that. The executive lounge service was definitely better and they do come to your attention when needed and the food got replenish when it was empty. Decent food and drinks offering, has a big TV so that you can watch CNA and catch up on news. As for breakfast at Tiffany's Cafe, the variety is decent, has a live egg station and had a good meal. Unfortunately, I think the staff need to remind guests not to sit on tables that do not fulfil the 1m distance. I didn't know until I saw the sign. The gym is smaller than the Riverfront one and it's in the same area as the laundry machines ($8 per wash/dryclean). Saw it has some weights and even a water cooler (which is great). The pool is pretty small so it's more of a dipping pool than the swim laps. The hotel is also doing some renovation, so it warns guests that it starts from 9am to 6pm. The main thing that is the selling point is the location, it is very near Chinatown Point, which is near Chinatown MRT and also Clark Quay MRT. If you are a foodie, you can stay here and eat all the various kinds of food at Chinatown area. Oh, and the view from my room was fantastic.. The skyline had the Singapore Flyer, MBS and all.. really nice! Read less
