Old hotel, but had a very comfortable stay in this hotel. Very good night's rest with blackout curtains in the room. Swimming pool was a bit inconvienient to get to (needed to walk through 2 doors and a short climb up the stairs). The pool itself was a bit small, but quite alright because not many swam when I was there. Had 2 unpleasant incidents though: 1) I had a (not requested) morning call which disturbed my morning sleep, due to the shrill phone call. Reception who called was unapologetic even when I've told her that i didn't request for a morning call and wanted to "check". Sigh. No apology made during checkout, or any other moments too. 2) Swimming pool had many bits of crushed up chlorine tablets on the pool steps and floor. Initially i didn't think much about it, however after swimming and lying on the lounge chair. There were some pieces stuck under my swimsuit and caused a horrible itch/sting. I had to run over to the changing room to shower it out. :( This happened on one out of the 3 days I stayed and swam there. Would have been better if the staff ensure the tablets were fully dissolved int he pool (or label the pool as out of bounds). Pros: - Good location - Accessiblility. Bus stop just in front of the hotel, there's a bus 123 which reaches somerset area (town) in just 5-6 stops (15mins) Very close by! - Large room with comfy beds and pillows - Bathroom had bathtubs (v clean) - Affordable ( got it at a steal $75/night no bf) - Popular Jap (IKOI) and chinese (Peach garden) restaurant in the hotel - Convienence store just beside the hotel (at the petrol kiosk) - TV Channels had HBO and other foreign and local channels Cons: - A bit old - Doors didnt have latch (?), for additional security - Service staff not very attentive, they pretty much stays out of your way - TV slightly small Overall, a very nice stay (if not for the 2 preventable incidents). Would stay again! Read less

Had our temperature taken ( very politely) and shown to our room. The room was spacious, clean and had a marvellous view across the city. Bathroom was large and well lit. There was a welcome basket of fruit awaiting us. Bed very comfortable and Breakfast in the morning was superb. Very friendly staff and a relaxing experience. We used the swimming pool on one day. This was quiet and tranquil. A heated pool and a jacuzzi, with towels freely available. All in all though Singapore demanded a lot of walking and sightseeing, this hotel was well located on the Singapore River. A great place to draw breath ...and chill. We would definitely visit again. Had deluxe room with view of Robertson quay which was lovely and spacious. Lovely touch that on arrival the hotel leaves fruit in your room ideal after long flight. Lots of bars and restaurants over the road at Robertson quay or you can follow the river to Clarke quay or boat quay which also have lovely bars and restaurants. Lovely at night to take walk along the river as all bridges light up. Bus stop outside hotel where you can get the hop on off bus which is great way to see city. Would definitely recommend hotel and look forward to going back in few years. Read less

An excellent hotel - very competent and friendly staff, all extremely helpful. The hotel is within walking distance of Chinatown, with many eating places nearby. Every part of the hotel was very clean; the bed was comfortable and the room bright and airy with good views of the city.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel. The location is great, it is a 15 minute walk along the river to Clarke Quay where there are plenty of restaurants and bars. There is a bus which stops right outside the hotel which runs to most popular tourist attractions such as Orchard Road and Sentosa Island. The hotel itself is very basic, with a fairly decent breakfast. As a whole the hotel is clean and has all the basics that you need if you are planning to use it as a base for sight seeing and exploring. Its certainly not the sort of hotel you would spend all day lounging by the pool at. The rooms are cleaned daily and the whole hotel is clean enough. This is probably me being very picky but we asked for extra towels and were only given 1 extra when there are 2 guests. The towels are also tatty and ripped. The air con in the room is extremely loud, but as our room faced the main road I suppose it needed to be to drown out the sound of the traffic. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. One member of staff came round at breakfast to ask guests what they had planned for the day. He was great with giving suggestions of 'must see's' and transport etc, best local for in the area. On one of the days I was knackered from jet lag and a migraine so didn't fancy going down for breakfast and opted try and get some more sleep. The staff sent breakfast up for me which was really nice of them. However they all were then terrified that I was 'ill' - they phoned the room asking for my symptoms. Everyone is really on edge over this corona virus - with lots of staff and other guests wearing surgical masks. I completely understand they have to take precautions. Overall - this hotel was good value for money. I would consider staying again, but again only for a short period of time. I wouldn't want a week here. Read less
