I wish I was writing to share a wonderful experience. Unfortunately, their Welcome desk gave me an incredulous welcome instead. I booked a two night stay this weekend to celebrate my 40th birthday tomorrow - I'm sure most would agree that it's a big milestone, and hope that whoever reads this has better memories of their own 40th birthday than mine. The first disappointment was when the front desk staff informed me that the latest checkout time he could provide was 1pm, instead of the Platinum guaranteed 4pm because the W Singapore is not a hotel but a resort. I can live with that, but would deeply appreciate if someone could elucidate what makes the property a resort. Is it just the location? There is no onsite beach, and not that many facilities really. Anyway, what took the (birthday) cake was when he insisted that my group at the pool tomorrow has to be limited to four people. I asked if just one more friend could be accommodated as I'm celebrating my 40th birthday and had planned for a long time to celebrate with my four best friends. But no, we have to fair to other guests (and we must surely assume they all have four people). I asked why this restriction could not have been communicated to me prior to my arrival. After all, guest services and club lounge managers at virtually all my previous stays in Marriott group hotels had written me a few days beforehand to offer advice and assistance. He insisted that I had opted out of these emails, and pointed me to my Marriott app where I had opted out of text messages but opted in for emails. Is he living in a parallel universe where reverse logic applies? I'm not sure about his friendships, but I can't tell one of my friends that I like him least and that he's no longer welcome at my small celebration. I was left with no choice but to cancel my stay. I asked him about the penalty applicable to cancel my stay, and he was so generous to waive my cancellation fees like it was a gargantuan life-changing favor. So yes, I left the W Singapore and have no plan to ever return. Neither would my friends. By the way, my colleagues warned me off this "resort" after a difficult conference experience put it on their blacklist. I thought it would fare better at leisure stays and wanted to give them a second chance, but now realize I should have heeded the warning. Read less

After my terrible experience at Beach Villas (see my other review), W Hotel was a breath of fresh air. Like going from a tent to a real hotel! The service was excellent, quick, efficient, helpful and friendly. The room and views are lovely. The pool cold but great. The living room and bathroom are epic spaces to enjoy, do work and have fun. The only reason I gave it 4 not 5 stars is the complete lack of anything vegetarian or plant based protein on the food menu from The Kitchen Table. Their version of vegetarian is 3 salads and pasta/pizza, that's it! They have 11 main course dishes, none of which are vegetarian or even can be converted to vegetarian. Where's the plant based protein alternatives? You're the W Hotel, supposed to be aiming at world aware eco friendly and probably many vegetarian friendly guests so where are your meals to match this? Where is the Beyond Meat or Impossible Meat options? Even the Fullerton Hotel has an Impossible Burger on it's menu! Even the Indian options were a joke. The only vegetarian option was something I wouldn't have as only one dish I would normally have that with 3-4 other dishes but the only other option was Butter Chicken, you can't really make that vegetarian! You really need to get your act together here and this is not the first time I have said this on TA and nothing has changed..... But overall it was a lovely experience and very relaxing. Read less

Expect to wait 2-3 days for a response to your reservation request. Hotel interiors are dated, old red carpets lead up to an unimpressive lobby. Rooms are OK but nothing to get excited about. I do not see what the fuss is about and it certainly does not offer any kind of atmosphere like the W’s you may have viewed elsewhere. Read less

We're a family of 4 (two adults, one 6 year old and one 3 year old), and we booked two nights at W Hotel (Away guest room) for my wife's birthday. Had a fantastic time! We all felt the hotel and staff did a great job despite the challenges posed by the current Covid 19 outbreak. - smooth check in experience, with staggered check in times - clear explanation of the necessity to book facilities such as pool by Anna Room - absolutely gorgeous room (pictures attached) with a plunge pool and jacuzzi - comfortable king size bed which fit 4 of us with space to spare - everything was sparkling clean (the wife is a clean freak, and couldn't find anything to complain about!) Dining - the main restaurant was closed for renovation but there was a temporary dining area set up near the pool for breakfast, which was included - food was extremely good! tasty with a good variety of local and international fare - no buffet obviously, but we could order unlimited food and drinks - staff were very accomodating to our requests, and Wai Meng in particular took great care of us, even tried to engage my grumpy kids! full marks for service - lots of lovely eating places just outside the hotel which also made for nice walks in the evenings Facilities - the Wet pool was lovely, and not at all crowded due to the bookings. Towels provided at pool side, and the staff were walking around ensuring we were well settled in. - Bonus points for offering us little snacks and helping take pictures! - we didn't use the gym but it looked very funky just across - the room is located within the main spa complex. Didn't manage to use the Away spa because we had our kids, but we did walk through the facilities and they looked really lovely. - would like to return someday to try it out All in all, the two days went by very quickly and everyone was sad to leave. To anyone missing travelling, please do consider staying here! Read less
