This is a beautiful property but it lacks the attention to detail and customer service of other 5 star hotels that I have stayed in. The cleaning of rooms left a lot to be desired: Dust was prominent throughout the room. Glasses or cups were not changed. Towels had stains on them but were still left in the rooms. The bathrobe had a large stain on the sleeve but it was still left in the room when we arrived. Communal areas are not cleaned properly either. We saw the same litter in the lifts over several days. On the plus side the room itself was a good size and quality of the furnishings was high. The staff do not appear to be happy in general, not many smiles and with the exception of the breakfast staff they were not particularly friendly or helpful. Again, better hotels have staff that make you feel welcome and that you are guests not customers. The W makes you feel very much that you are a customer and not a guest. We also stayed in the St Regis Singapore on this trip and the difference in friendliness and the welcome was like chalk and cheese. There is a lively pool area but again it lacks the touch of better hotels. The guards are not particularly friendly or helpful and just tend to ignore you and go about their business. The hotel needs to realise that it is little things that elevates the best. At other similar hotels we have been to you are given little treats around the pool when it is hot ( ice lolly, fruit, cold towels). At the W, you are given a menu for the cost of an ice lolly. Again you are a customer... I was looking forward to staying here but it didn't live up to expectations Read less

That said my five year old loved the neon lights, the pool, the disco lifts and the breakfast buffet. I have to agree with her on breakfast it was exceptional if a little expensive. The gym was great and the staff on the whole were nice and actually our bed was very comfortable but I felt very quickly this was not a hotel for a 40 year old, that’s fine and my bad for staying here, but our room wasn’t ready for us until 3.45pm and there almost nothing relaxing about the vibe. If I was 27 I’m sure I would love it but I probably wouldn’t have been able to afford it! Next time I’ll stick to the shangri la I think. (With the rest of the old people 😂). Read less

I visited this hotel in August 2019 with my wife and two boys and we were here in Singapore mostly to visit the attractions at Sentosa island for the kids and the hotel has a prime location to do just that and this was complemented by that fact that the hotel offered a shuttle service every hour to and back to the Sentosa resort so it was easy getting there and back. The airport is around 40 minutes away, the Bay Area is around 15 - 20 minutes away and around SGD 20 to SGD 25. Orchard Street, the main shopping area in Singapore is also around 15 minutes away. The hotel was also located in a posh location of the island and facing an amazing bay and the views around the bay were scenic and also within a walking distance like literally 2 minutes walk there was a stretch of restaurants and a cafe, Joe the juice which offered a good selection of juices and coffee. (Me and wife particularly like their Tuna sandwich). Check in was very smooth and we received a personalized welcome by Raj who was very professional and personal which I particularly liked and he also gave me his business card offering to help with anything during my stay. I stayed in two types of rooms, the first a double bed room which can comfortably host two adults and two kids and unlike many other hotels in Singapore the policy of the W Hotel is that kids stay free as long as they use the existing bedding. The twin beds were also queen sized beds rather than single unlike many other hotels around the area. The bathroom was well laid out and sleek and amenities offered by the W are both of very good quality and also have the best packaging. The room also had a good size balcony around 2m by 1m with a table. During our stay the weather was lovely with a nice breeze and with the view overlooking the marina, we did spend the mornings and evenings in the balcony. For last two days of my stay I received a complimentary upgrade to a Marvelous suite which we loved, the bed room was huge and so was the bathroom and the living room had modern furnishing and was also spacious and we requested two extra beds for the boys which were placed there and I’ve got to say that the quality of the extra beds was no different than the fixed bedding was also notable. The pool was huge and had a nice and fast slide which the kids enjoyed and the entire pool was of almost the same depth so we didn’t get worried about our kids swimming in the far end of the pool from us. The service at the pool was good and so was the food quality. The hotel also offers free water and sun cream by the pool which is a plus Incase you had forgotten yours in the room. Another plus is that the pool is open 24 hours which is a first timer for me I haven’t seen a single hotel which offers this. Breakfast variety was good, and so is the quality however the layout of the tables is very close to each other and the place tends to get crowded towards 10:00 to 10:30 so if you want to enjoy a quite breakfast then I recommend you get down there early in the morning. We loved the service offered by one particular staff member Waimeng, who knew our drink preferences and always came and greeted the kids and helped with getting their pancakes to the table when the station was busy.
