Unfortunately, I booked the Anantara Riverside resort in Bangkok for my 15 days mandatory quarantine. I had booked a standard room (They call it Deluxe!) All of the deluxe rooms are on the North West face and NONE of them get any sunshine during the day. I tried changing rooms three times but could not find a room where I could get a bit of sunshine. to make matters worse a lot of the rooms have no views so it is like being in a prison. The first room I had was on the 3rd floor and looked onto a car park wall about 10 meters away and there were palm trees obscuring any view. When I first complained the moved me to A 7TH floor room on the NW corner of the "OLD" building which had a bigger balcony and a bit of a view but again no sunshine. The room was old and badly fitted out, the shower was above the bath and only produced a trickle of water. I moved again after one night and they moved me back to the same building on the 7th floor. This time I have a bit of a view over the carpark wall but still no sunshine. When I complained again, the duty manager brought out a map of the resort and pointed out to me that none of the Deluxe rooms get any sunshine!! I asked to be upgraded to a junior suite which are the only rooms where you can get some sunshine but he told me they were all fully booked!!! So, if you have a choice....go somewhere else other than this hotel.... The meals delivered to your room are average at best... Read less

I am a few days in to my 15 day ASQ quarantaine stay and so far its been well lets say not great... I first booked Avani+ but after about 1,5 month I was told Avani+ was going to stop being an ASQ and I was asked if I could change over to Anantara Riverside. The room is spacious but a little worn down-interior decoration fairly classical (thai) what you would expect and the standout thing so far have been the food that is delivered to outside your door three times per day and it have so far been great! The pickup at the airport was ok but we were only 2 in the large car (which was good) but they let us wait in the car for 40-45 minutes before going and without informing us...not sure why...after such a long flight that was a bit annoying we both thought The issue I have with the hotel is the service.. Upon selecting the ASQ i asked around a few different places (as you should) and since 14 days inside without a gym is a fairly long time I asked If they-somehow-could provide me with a treadmill or something similar (since most gyms are closed anyway) and the answer I got was yes (back in November) Also just a few days ago I was sent a list of treatments etc that I could chose once here and in that very letter they once again menationed that I could rent a treadmill (you are paying good money as it is I think but fair enough). Great,I,thought! However upon checkingin I was told they did not have any treadmills and it-the email-had been “a misunderstanding” I was instead offered to rent an execise bike instead (in the email it was 500 bath per day-a bit exessive I think)) but now they had no one left (why was unclear) and if Imwanted one they could rent it “from the outside” for 7500 Bath for 12 days.....I just checked on the web and you can BUY bikes cheaper. Not having decent access to a treadmill/bike or what have you would have been a dealbreaker for me and I would have picked another hotel for my ASQ had I known this would happen-but here I am I do get the feeling the service department just shrug their shoulders and pretend its not, really their fault...NOT what you want from a supposedly 5* hotel and not something you should have to experience in Thailand If you come to Bangkok and want to stay somewhere really nice-even close to the river-where they have good service I would suggest you look elsewhere since there are so many good places out there Read less

We, extremely well travel couple, are at mid-point of our quarantined stay at Anantara Just writing this review now already as a recognition of the - within the special circumstances - outstanding stay we have here: we are enormously enjoying our top-floor, very spacious riverview suite in the main building - with the big balcony, we take most of the very good meals outside, sleep very well in the comfy beds in rooms with good blackout curtains, end enjoy the (admittedly too short) time outside. But most importantly the staff is outstanding and truly trying to make our stay here as pleasant as possible - from providing us with a business chair to survive the incessant video conferences and work effectively, to different kinds of Nespresso for my coffee tastes, the concierge fulfilling whatever is needed to the cleaning team doing an outstanding job. The rooms are certainly not fancy and showing a bit their age, but - at least our Riverview Suite - are very spacious (even our 7 suitcases could be easily stored without being in the way), functional (eg with an excellent second fridge, or the may power outlets) and comfortable. And being at the top floor of the main building takes you a bit away from the river, but also the at times loud tugboat from the river are less heard...and the view is as good. And while taking repeated filling of online forms the meal order and relaxation time reservation is efficient and simple, and the hotel and nursing service is flexibly adjusting to any special timing needs. Three particularly good aspects - within the limits of room service and single-use packaging and cutlery the first 5 days, the quality of the meals (in particular Thai) is excellent - authentic Thai food, but also lots of other choices - the relaxation area is large and beautifully appointed along the river, with great views especially at sunset (see pictures). Service there is also truly welcoming - the Siam Paragon Department store online ordering is excellent - they deliver nearly everything (incl fresh fruits, speciality foods, electronics etc) from likely the country's best department store for a minimal charge or free to your room. Also the hotel added a delivery service from a number of franchises owned by same group as Anantara - so for very modest amounts you can now order from Coffee Club, S&P (a Thai chain offering a bit of every type of food - quite good), Burger King, Pizza, etc - nice addition We hope the next 8 days will be as enjoyable, and we look forward to our Spa treatments and restaurant lunches and dinners on the river for the last 3 days after our 2nd Covid test on day 11. Thank you to all the Anantara staff, we have stayed in many of the 5* hotels of Bangkok and we are glad we decided to come here for our ASQ stay - love it here Read less
