Its a disappointment when standards slip - which they have here. One can accept that COVID is an issue. But to put us in a sub standard room in a block affected by an all night barking dog, when the hotel not full? There are no curtains which means that the room never gets dark. So select your room with care. This was my third visit and they… Read more

But to put us in a sub standard room in a block affected by an all night barking dog, when the hotel not full? There are no curtains which means that the room never gets dark. So select your room with care. This was my third visit and they obviously had no idea that i had visited before - which is down to poor management. Keeping a data base of your clients is key. Having booked direct with the Hotel - saving them an online booking fee - plus the fact that they were not busy - would have expected better. Read less

The staffs are absolutely nice and professional , the swimming pool , the lay out of the place , everything was great. The food at the restaurant is amazing , congratulation to the kitchen team and chef. Rooms are beautiful and well decorated . The only issue for me would be the white curtains which let the light go through , darker curtains would be the best , as I have issues in finding sleep when it is not totally dark. But this is only a detail . I strongly recommend this place. Read less

As a long time resident of Thailand it is always nice to have ones feelings for a place reinforced and the Tamarind Village has certainly done that for me. Obviously there is very little actual tourism going on at the moment just us expats of different stripes and a good few Thais however, it looks like this place has been kept busy and I can see why. Firstly, it is situated really centrally within "old" part of CM, I walked almost everywhere and nowhere was very far, it is surrounded by Wats so if those are your thing you will certainly love it here. Secondly, the rooms, I paid a little more for a room with a balcony which was very spacious and clean with a huge bed and more than servicable shower, it's bathroom window actually looked out over the place where the chickens live, the CM Architects Collective and, contrary to populr belief they weren't overly noisy, just fun to listen to. The restaurant is lovely, an excellent spread for breakfast really sets one up for the day, the evening menu was also excellent and very authentic, the Kao Soi was spot on! Others have complained about the prices but I wouldn't say that they were overly pricey, just commensurate with the rest of the place. If you want cheap, Central has a food court, try there. The pool is fine, small but again completely serviceable, I actually tried it out today and by golly it was chilly, yet very bracing. All in all, I would come back here tomorrow and I would also bring my family and would encourage others to do so too. One other point, I arrived here on the overnight train from Bangkok, even at 08:30 they let me check in: Many places would not have countenanced that! Thanks for a delightful stay. Read less

The rooms were fantastic, large, plenty of wardrobe space (stayed for 5 days) the toiletries were to die for, luxurious and divine. The bed was extremely comfy with the added mosquito net if required. We only ate at the hotel for breakfast, the selection was spot on, the home made yoghurt was divine if only it could be sold here in the UK it would be on my breakfast table everyday :-), plenty of selection of fresh fruit, cereal, pastries and local cuisine along with omelettes made to order if wished. The location is perfect, bang in the heart of the city but you wouldn't know this when you enter the hotel grounds, so peaceful, with the huge tamarind tree in the heart of this place. The pool area is great, comfy loungers - perfect to chill after a busy day exploring, with a G&T in hand, the pool itself was rather chilly but what can you expect in mid December!! We will certainly return to the Tamarind when next visiting Chiang Mai. Read less
