This is a place of tranquility in Lanna style. It is rare to find such a place in central Chiang Mai. This is a place of tranquility in Lanna style. It is rare to find such a place in central Chiang Mai. In my life, I've been to Chiang Mai countless times - to visit my relatives, to recharge, to sing, to work. Not even a time that I felt bored of Chiang Mai as I always found new places and new stories. I always came to Sunday Night Walking Street near Tha Phae Gate and I remembered passing a hotel in which the property has been with Chiang Mai's old town for long, with its gigantic 200-year-old tamarind tree located in the area. At present, this property is a renowned boutique hotel with national and international awards. Lanna-style architecture and arts are found everywhere in the hotel area. I love the hotel main entrance in which guests will walk through bamboo garden, making the guests feel so special. For food, the hotel is located in the centre of the old town, so you can walk around and try local food. Alternatively, the hotel restaurant serves authentic Northern Thai food with delicious taste. I would recommend you to try Khao Soi at the hotel restaurant. But most importantly, staff members are very soft-manner, kind, and attentive. I even joined a half-day tour to 3 local temples in the area. Very impressive activity and I would like to recommend everyone to join. Read less

After a short transfer from the airport we arrived at the Tamarind Village, an oasis of tranquillity within the old city. We received a warm welcome and whilst it was only mid-morning our room was ready for our two night stay. We had a Lanna Deluxe with all the expected amenities; it very comfortable with a balcony overlooking a peaceful courtyard with The Tamarind Tree, totally serene. This is a wonderful boutique hotel; ideal to explore the old city and surrounds or chill around the pool. Staff were delightfully friendly and attentive. Whilst there are plenty of restaurants around we ended up eating in the Ruen Tamarind for lunch and dinners with excellent food, service and poolside location. Not forgetting the banana crisps with drinks. Unfortunately we did not get time to take advantage of the afternoon craft classes or city guided walk. Our only regret was we had to leave. Read less

Excellent location in the centre of town with temples, street food etc all on the door step. Room was small but OK and the hotel has a relaxing ambiance despite the hustle and bustle just outside the door. Breakfast was OK but we preferred to eat out for all other meals as the cost was lower and the choice much greater.

We went on the free 2 hour tour of a number of temples, guided by a staff member who could not be more helpful - we thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Breakfast was lovely, with a wide selection of foods. The location is very convenient for walking around Chiang Mai, and we would definitely recommend taking trips to Doi Suthep and Doi Inthanon whilst visiting the area. We stayed 3 days, but wished we'd stayed longer. Read less
