Wow I was so amazed at the JW Marriott Khao Lak, I have never stayed at a Marriott Resort before and I was very impressed, the service is higher than any other 5 Star resort I have staying in before. I really felt the Marriott are very client focused and looked after us so well. The staff were excellent always smiling and say Sawasdee Khaa in particular I would like to mention the following ladies as they especially looked after us - Am in Reception, so helpful, kind and so accomodating. Mam in the Olive Restaurant, so kind and accommodating with such a beautiful smile and loved hearing her story how she came to work at the Marriott. Laila, Nat and Thip in the Waterfront restaurant, always smiling so helpful they made our breakfast a joy every morning. I am a vegetarian and the staff at the Marriott were very accomodating and made sure I ate well, the Chef in Olive was amazing creating my own special "Egg Free Vegetable Pasta" I was blown away, we ate there twice both times were amazing. The Ta-Krai Restaurant was incredible - they created my own vegetarian Green and Yellow Curry both meals were equally amazing I was totally impressed. I have to commend all the chefs at the Marriott Khao Lak as every meal I had there were delicious, fresh and mouth watering. The pool is incredible it surrounds to the whole hotel, every room has a pool view. Looking forward to retuning when the new rooms have been opened. Read less

This is indeed a lovely hotel. We ventured there in the "off season", so it was fairly quiet and also the hotel is in the middle of fairly major room renovations, so a large number of rooms were not occupied. The renovations didn't impact upon us in a negative way at all, in fact the hotel has gone to great lengths to reduce the amount of noise that you might expect to hear during a renovation. All of the rooms that were being renovated were in fact completely boarded off, so you cannot see construction, nor did we hear much of it during the day either. They are renovating whole wings, so that wing doesn't impact on the other wings, from our perspective it was jolly well thought out. The luxury escape deal was a good deal, which included all meals. As the hotel is at the very least a short taxi ride away from more options, I was happy with meal inclusion, although my husband put on 5 kilograms in 10 days. whoah!!! Our room was had not been renovated, however there was nothing about it that I didn't like. Our bed was normal Asian hard, so they tried to make it soft by putting 3 x quilts on top. I must be a bit of a princess, as it still wasn't soft enough, it was large/roomy though! They supply really nice toiletries, which included shampoo, conditioner, body wash ,soap, body lotion, sewing kit, comb etc. We had free use of the push bikes for one hour per day, they have pool table and ping pong table, other kids games and a kids club. We used the gym and went to a yoga/stretching class for free. Contrary to other reviews, we didn't see much in the way of children, except at a few dinners where the children were a little disruptive, but the restaurant moved us immediately away. The hotel staff were very professional, in particular we enjoyed the Olive restaurant and the very animated chef. The only draw back was the hotel viewed the surf as dangerous for most of the time and were reluctant to let us use the boogie boards. To us this surf was nothing much to speak, of being that we from Australia and have surfed all of our lives, however I have seen the efforts of other less accomplished swimmers and imagined that they would have been swept away. lol The was a fairly hefty undertow, and a few dumpers, which I enjoyed. We would go there again for a quiet break. This hotel is not really for party goers! The nearest party action is quite some way away. Thailand is more expensive than I have remembered in the past, but this hotel offered just the right amount of relation that we needed. Read less

The infinity pool bar and beach bar were excellent, plenty on offer for adults and kids, so relaxing and overlooking the beach, just shear perfection!! The concierge service was well knowledgeable, the spa massage treatment was grat, and general customer service throughout the resort was second to none. We felt special and didnt want to leave. The room was spacious and having access to the pool from the room was a treat for the kids, especially when the staff came around with the canoe offering drinks etc, great tough!........ amazing, amazing, amazing!!! This is a beautiful resort and lives up to the JW Marriott reputation of excellence. This resort is ideal for couples as well as families. We are 5 days into our 8 day stay with another couple and I have nothing but good things to say about this place. We have breakfast lunch and dinner included and we have not had one bad meal. We have eaten at all the restaurants and they all serve delicious food and provide great service. Patrick Smekens the Director of food and beverage makes sure everything is running smoothly and he his often seen checking in on all the restaurants and talking to the guests. The gym is excellent, the pool is beautiful. We have a pool access room and I would recommend you book this as our friends booked an upstairs room and regret not having direct access to the pool. The hotel provides a kids club and a range of activities for the adults as well. The beach setting is beautiful with an adults only section. I cannot fault this place. I will be coming back with my daughters and grand children. We love this resort. Read less
