Second stay here after 2 years. Previous visit whilst under the Centara brand which we loved at the time. Positives. Pools are cleaner. Still the best location in Khao Lak. Seems like new management trying to utilize more of resort. Bars and restaraunts all seem to be operating. Play areas seem better equiped then before. Negatives Breakfast has been moved away from beach. The breakfast is no way near as good as before. The food is a real let down, and the prices astronomical. Fresh coconut when available 120 Baht. At the X10 which is a 5 star. They were allways available and 70 baht. Its a lot quiter then before. Carpe Diem made this resort for families and them not being here made this a different stay. Bathrooms are in desperate need of renovation We ordered some pizzas on the beach last day and they were absolutely terrible. They had been not too bad until then, but no apology or offer of something else just a shrug of the shoulders. A lot of new staff, learning the ropes. I thought they would have kept same staff. Bottom line is its still a great place to visit. But the rates are the same as for the X10 and the Sands. We stayed at the X10 and its just a better resort in every way. Management need to either totally refit the entire resort to compete with the newer places or offer this at a much cheaper rate as its not even a close comparison. We felt like we were getting ripped off with the food on offer. Especially when we compared with X10. Read less

This was booked as a Centara hotel chain. At no point had we been informed that this was no longer a Centara hotel, this eventually became evident. On arriving at the hotel, we were greeted but far from your expected Thai greeting. We were informed that check in was not until 3 and we would have to wait. We completed all the necessary paperwork and was informed that the New Year’s Eve Galla dinner was prepaid for two people only and therefore we had to pay for an additional person at nearly £100 as it was pay it or our son sat in the room on his own for new year! When we were given a very brief run down of where things were, breakfast and the nearest McDonalds was (yep that was the first ‘restaurant’ we were told about!!), we were left to find something to do until we got the room key. This is when we started to notice the dirt, tired building, neglected areas and general run down condition of the hotel. Time to get the room key...on entering the room the smell hit us all first. A damp, mouldy dirty smell, the room was dirty, worn, tired and generally neglected. There was no third bed for our son and nothing had been set up for an accommodation for 3 adults, it was all for 2 adults. We then had to go back to reception and ask for another bed to be put in the room. 10 mins later a rusty camp bed was delivered and was literally placed in the middle of the room. I explained it was not sitting in the middle of the room and furniture was to be moved to fit it in. (When I mean in he middle of the room, literally slap in the middle!!) We didn’t unpack as just had this gut feeling that things were not right. We then had a look outside to our ‘private pool’. This was the private pool, with nothing around it, kids collecting their football from the ‘private pool’ with the most horrific smell coming from the pool itself. I can not even go to explain the smell of the water in the pool and the horrific noise the pool pump was making, the pool was not full and was very dirty. The surroundings around the pool were neglected and dangerous, wooden planks lifting nails and screws sticking up, tiles missing in the pool itself, broken man hole covers, safety signs missing...disgusting. We then started looking closer and I lifted the bed sheets back (really shouldn’t have done this), blood on the mattress! The headboard on the bed was revolting, seriously disgusting. Final straw, so back to reception. Manager (male) did not want to know, extremely dismissive had no interest what so ever and asked us what we wanted to do?! Said the hotel was unsatisfactory and asked if we could transfer to another Centara hotel. This is when we found out that Seaview had sold out and was no longer a Centara hotel...although everything still referred to the Centara chain, including awards, signs and even the luggage labels were still Centara hotel chain. We agreed to view another villa to see if that was better, I asked the female manager if it was of the same standard and her response was “yes, as the whole hotel is due to be refitted”. So we went to see the second private villa with pool and she was right, no better and the toilet had excrement on the wall. This holiday was for our 50th birthday and we were not staying in a disgusting filthy dirty hotel, so we found somewhere else and left!! We are in the process of taking legal advice for many reasons but the mis selling of the hotel being one of them. When we arrived at the other hotel, which I hassen to add was beautiful, Seaview had the audacity to ring our new hotel and demand us to return to pay for the 3 sprites we had whilst waiting for them to get the room ready...seriously was lost for words!! 4* hotel....absolutely not!! The photos attached are of many things from the disgusting headboard, mattress, poo on the wall, broken man hole covers .... too many to list and only can post 10 so just can’t cover the full extend of the filth. If your looking for a low standard Benidorm hotel in Thailand then this is the hotel for you...other than that stay clear, very clear!! Read less

Long story short we got moved into 2 connection rooms which were fine ,clean and didn't smell too bad, but ...we had to pay a extra £100! It's a shame this happen because after that we did enjoy our stay , location is great , breakfast is good , lovely large pools but it could do with a bit of extra cleaning here n there. Read less

We stayed here 20dec19 to 5jan20 Accommodation We stayed in the deluxe two bed apartment, we requested two beds apposed to bunk beds, we wasn’t disappointed with what we had, as a family of 5 this accommodation is the biggest we had ever had. There was separate lounge, kitchen dinner and bathroom on 1st floor and two bedrooms and bathroom on 2nd floor. Our fifth bed was a sturdy metal frame bed with a normal mattress which was comfortable, originally placed downstairs but we moved it into our bedroom as plenty of room. The apartment block is from what locals inform originally a shopping centre converted into apartments, in looks this is evident with some units not in use and blocked up with sheets in windows. And although a little tired and in need of a makeover didn’t effect our holiday here. The view from entranceway overlooks court yard with shaded play area for children and is very short walk to a small pool ideal for a quick dip after a day out. The view from the rear of apartment won’t be as appealing but hotel can’t help that.. Our only bad point was there is no balcony as advertised. Food Breakfast was nice with plenty of options from Thai food, fresh bread, freshly cooked eggs, waffles, omelettes, with continental on offer along with bacon and eggs, fresh fruit and fruit juices on tap.. We didn’t eat in restaurant in general as there are hundreds of restaurants off complex. We did have one Buffett meal one evening and was ok, along with a few lunches round the pool. On our departure as an early leave we was offered a breakfast box, sandwich, fruit, pastry, drink was a nice touch.. Pools Pools were great, small pool by family accommodation was often very quiet with a few beds available there is a small child pool attached with small slide, main pool comprised of four pools, main pool had slide and an little children’s pool to one side. Pool bar and massage area along with restaurant. Beach pool was split into two plenty of sun-beds although most on sandy area facing beach. Restaurant and bar here. We only had a few pool days where we stayed all day and sun beds were not an issue, even when we’d been out on half day excursions we always found a bed.. Beach Is just amazing, perfect location for kids as not as steep as further along, and shallower due to small island. Can walk to island. Compulsory New Years party Wow if every year started like this it would be amazing, there was no holding back on the food Buffett with freshly cooked meats and fish Amazing Staff The staff need to be praised they made our holiday, they were all so happy, friendly and hard working. In general the hotel is in need off a freshen up but this was evident of happening when we was there. We had issues with room ie door not closing, air conditioning etc but staff came straight away fixed any issues at anytime.. Read less
