We stayed here for 6 nights. The pool and beach were great. We were about a 20 minute walk from Fisherman’s village. We walked both the road and the beach. The wifi at the hotel wasn’t the best. It continually bumped you off, but all in all it worked well enough. Also we booked for 5 people (3 kids) and I was under the assumption that a cot… Read more

It continually bumped you off, but all in all it worked well enough. Also we booked for 5 people (3 kids) and I was under the assumption that a cot would be provided. It wasn’t and the charge was about $35cdn a night. We ended up pushing the single beds together and making our three kids share. We were trying to travel on a budget so the additional $30 a night seemed a lot to pay for a cot. Read less

I should start by saying this is a review of the hotel and not the staff who were to a man outstanding. Let me say that I have spent the last month travelling through Thailand . I arrived in Bangkok on the 5th and on check in at my hotel was immediately offered an upgrade to a suite, and given a 25% discount across all F and B outlets across the hotel. I am currently in Khan lak and on check in here again an upgrade , this isn’t something I expect , but as you can imagine it’s a great feeling. Checked in here and was immediately asked for a 3500 baht security deposit (just in case) for what I can’t imagine , but they were adamant it had to be paid. Really doesn’t give a good impression of Thailand does it ? Got to my room , and attempted to unpack, one small problem, there’s nowhere to put anything, one small wardrobe with six coat hangers and nothing else, and I do mean nothing else, so your literally living out of your suitcase. There’s not even a shelf to put stuff on , like phones cameras and other bits and pieces you tend to carry around. Your suitcase can’t even slide under the bed , so your constantly stepping over it , god knows how you would cope as a couple with double the luggage I had. The bathroom again is tiny , and the shower door doesn’t fully open because the toilet bowl gets in the way , the doors to the shower don’t meet , there’s a full half inch gap between the two doors , and a good two inch gap between the bottom of the doors and the floor, so it doesn’t take a genius to work out what happens every time you take a shower. As for the balcony, I had actually been there three days before I realised I had been sat on two chairs stacked on top of each other. Good luck to the couples that sit out there and then try and get back into the room again. Lastly I stayed there for eight nights and there were four power cuts , anything from an hour to almost five hours, not the hotel’s fault I know , however every other hotel along the strip had a back up generator, how come a multi million pound organisation like ibis chooses not to As you’ve no doubt guessed I will not be returning Read less

Standard Ibis hotel, does what it says on the tin. For the money we paid we really couldn't complain. We stayed for 3 nights before moving on to other parts of the island & this hotel was adequate for that amount of time. Check in & check out were both fast & efficient. They wouldn’t credit my Accor account with any points because I hadn’t booked directly with the hotel which, I must say, I have never comes across before. Lovely pool area with direct access to the beach. They put a few brightly coloured novelty lilos in the pool for communal use. I thought that was a nice touch. Bought lunch from the beach seller each day & ate it on my sun lounger by the pool, which the hotel had no problem with. Our room was in the same building that breakfast was served in & it could get noisy in the morning time, so I would recommend to avoid rooms in that building. I think it was building 3? The housekeeping staff did a wonderful job. The communal hallways, stairways etc could do with a lick of paint & the room itself is very basic, but I cannot understand some of the complaints on here. It’s an Ibis! If you want 5 star then you need to be prepared to pay 5 star prices & that just isn’t the Ibis brand! It’s not what they are about. We came with minimal expectations & we were quite happy. For a beachfront property their price is great. The hotel offers a minibus to Fisherman’s Village or you can walk it in around 15 minutes. We would recommend a visit to the famous night market. Yes, it’s very touristy, but it's great fun. The only issue we came across was during one afternoon by the pool. A group of approximately 8-10 Thai males overtook one section of the pool, dive bombing, larking around & generally disturbing the peace. One older couple ended up going back to their room early due to the disturbance, the young children in that section of the pool soon got out & moved elsewhere & a family of 4 moved to the other end of the poolside area due to being splashed that many times. We were splashed quite a few times too. By grown men. The staff did nothing to get them to calm down. We wondered if they were off duty staff, or perhaps friends of the staff because they came in with beers already in hand (a brand that the hotel doesn’t have), fully dressed in jeans & t shirts & didn’t have any hotel towels with them. They proceeded to strip off, claim a section of the pool for themselves, take all the lilos (leaving all the kids with none), shout, splash & display a total lack of concern for anyone else all afternoon. It was a bit disappointing to see that the hotel staff let that happen. If you’re on a budget but still want a beachfront hotel close to Fisherman’s Village then give the Ibis a go. If you don’t need beachfront then for similar money (& oftentimes less money) there are a few independent places in Fisherman’s village that will probably fit the bill better. Perhaps book a night in the Ibis & then have a wander down to Fisherman’s village to pop into a few places in person & see what they have to offer. We would probably choose to do that next time. Thank you to all the staff at Ibis Bophut for a lovely stay :) Read less
