The staff are very friendly and always helpful with anything you may need during your stay You will be taken to your Villa by golf cart with all rooms having tryout own private pool. If you head down to the resorts beach You can have a Massage and drinks which we enjoyed every day. The resort is located about 20 minutes drive from the local city. There are daily mini bus shuttles from the resort. The food in Koh Samui W is amazing, the breakfast inclusion is worth having . Try a local dish at any of the restaurants in town. IIf you want a change one night try the Italian restaurant Preggo. I would highly recommend W for couple getaways Read less

The room does look a little dated and windows need a good clean, but having the pool was welcome as it is a bit of a hoke to the main pool (Buggy's are available). Beach is great with some fantastic chill out areas, although you need surf socks for the sea as sharp coral and stones, it looks bigger in the photo. Woo Bar has a great vibe to watch the sunset, Massage was great and although we enjoyed it here a few nights was enough, we had visited a better hotel that cost much less and in hind site would have stayed there for longer. This W does deserve being a category 8 by Mariott Bonvoy ranking. Enjoyed staying here. Pluses - Nicely looking, stylish villas. Small surprises delivered in your room every day, like a lavender pillow spray - Amazing breakfast buffet including sparking wine and Bloody Mary :) - Wonderfull goodies for Mariott’s Ambassadors (we were invited on a short sunset boat trip) - Stations with free soft drinks and ice cream - Bars and restaurant overall nice - Great service living up to the value expected. They even helped us rent a scooter for a reasonable price - If you like sports, they got you covered: 3-4 good sport classes per day as well as kayak and SUP rentals for free - Great beach! The hotel watches out for non-guests not to occupy the sunbeds :) - Two steps outside the hotel - and you can enjoy authentic Thai food, massages at a fraction of W prices Minuses - In general, F&B, spa etc. are very pricey, which is typical for this sort of hotels - Cocktails at the Beach just okay but not awesome - CAUTION - surpassingly, they would sometimes allow busfulls of tourists (or are those cruise ships?...) who would completely fill the beach and just be noisy.... This happened once during our one week stay though. Read less

We stayed at the W in Koh Samui in December with our adult son.The hotel is in the midst of luscious gardens and has a beautiful beach. The breakfast each morning was absolutely divine!Everything from champagne/Bloody Marys, eggs, cereals, smoked salmon, etc.Truly a wonderful dining experience while admiring the gorgeous view of palm trees and neighboring islands. The evening happy hour was also quite a treat. Every evening, the hotel served specially concocted tropical drink specials for guests at the beautiful bar lobby (surrounded by water and that amazing view!). Despite the beautiful scenery, wonderful breakfasts and amazing cocktails, the most impressive part of our stay was the attentiveness of the entire staff. From the moment we arrived, everyone addressed us by name and wanted to ensure that we were enjoying our stay. The Executive Assistant Manager, Khanitha Singtothong, met us everyday at breakfast to hear about our adventures and to ensure we were enjoying ourselves. Our son had just reached a significant Marriott loyalty level that month and she arranged for a surprise tribute on the beach our last night with the Manager of the hotel, Mr. Tarek and staff members to commemorate the milestone with champagne! They even had a special W bear gift for him. At our departure, they gave us pictures they had taken at the celebration (attention to detail!). We cannot stress enough how TOP NOTCH service makes this hotel VERY special.Thank you, Khanitha and Mr.Tarek!! Read less

Now let me make this clear before people start thinking that I'm overly critical. Now let me make this clear before people start thinking that I'm overly critical. I am not a fussy person and I generally do not write any reviews (in-fact, this is my first review here even though I hold a platinum elite status with Marriott Bonvoy) or complain about service or things unless it really ticks me off. Moreover, if you are paying $1500 USD/night for a room/suite, you better be impressed. Am I being fair ? Hopefully, you all would agree. So here goes. The property on the first look looks just like the beautiful pictures when you check in. The pool at the lobby with the gorgeous W logo takes your breath away. And we were blown away too. The check in process started and the guy checking me in asked me for my staff ID for my company that I work for. Who in their right mind would being their company ID to Koh Samui (I work in Singapore and Tokyo which is well documented in their systems). I was asked this questions because the rate was a corporate rate and although their policy states that a proof of company association is required this is not enforced anywhere that I travel. I was in JW Mariott in Bangkok for a week just before going to Koh Samui and was not asked for anything. Anyway, not a big deal - I guess the guy was just doing his job (a bit unintelligently). Check in to the ocean front haven villa - This is where it hit me. While making the reservation, I had given very specific instructions in WRITING to the staff that I was there for my first wedding anniversary and I wanted the villa decorated accordingly. When I got in the villa, there was just a small cake with a "happy birthday" message on the table. This was unacceptable to me, as it was a special occasion for me and the staff f**ked it up. The villa also needs maintenance and I spotted both the bathroom sinks with stains. The AC kept leaking for the first day in the bathroom, I called the engineer who came to fix it at 9 pm. And it started leaking again the day after. I also found 2 sachets of used "kamagra jelly" in the sitting area outside the bedroom. Upon googling i discovered that the jelly is used to treat erectile dysfunction so I guess the guest staying before me used it, had a good tine and trashed it but the cleaning service did nothing to clean this rubbish outside.I made this discovery 3 hours before my checkout so I decided to do nothing about it and just leave the place with which I was already unhappy... Damage control : I did complain about the mess with the birthday cake and the staff did apologize and sent a free bottle of champagne and offered a free massage as well. Although I do appreciate the effort, I am not happy with the overall stay in W Koh Samui. It was not what I expected and I am disappointed. I have stayed in every W in Asia and this was definitely a let down. Read less
