“Whatever, Whenever” My family stayed at the W this past March, the place is outstanding, the staff was extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. We booked 2 rooms because of the age of our children, the staff was extremely helpful in locating us 2 rooms side by side. They contacted us 2-3 weeks in advance to let us know that they were trying to make this happen. The Staff: Extremely friendly, very accommodating, whatever we needed they were able to provide it. They genuinely seems to enjoy what they did. You didn’t have to look far to find someone who could help you if you needed it. It was uncanny how most of the staff knew our names and room numbers, it seemed like we never had to tell them our room number (they have golf carts to take you around the resort) nor provide our name/room numbers for billing at bar etc. The Resort: Some of the pictures do not do the place justice, the views are picturesque. When you see pictures online, you think they might be enhanced, until you see this place in person and realize they didn't have to do anything but point and shoot. During check in, we were taken to lounge seating area, the one of the W members joined us to check us in, they don’t have the traditional check in ‘desk’, you just relax with a drink and enjoy the experience. The Beach: Very clean and beautiful but parts of it does have a bunch of coral that washes up on it, so some parts of the beach and water were hard to walk on, but the other side has soft sand and very calm. The W offers beach shoes to guest to help deal the coral, we didn’t feel the need for the shoes because it wasn’t that bothersome to us. The resort provides comfortable lounge single and double soft mattresses with pillows at the beach as well as the typical beach lounge chairs, they also have buzzers at each chair to get your drinks while you relax. The Pool: There is one on the resort, we didn’t use it The Rooms: Every room has a private pool, our rooms also had unobstructed views to the beach/ocean, waking up to that every morning is _________ (can't put that kind of beauty into words). Our rooms had an indoor and outdoor showers as well as full Jacuzzi tub next to the pool. The rooms had full wall windows facing the pool/beach. Doors to lead you to the terrace next to the pool, we had sliding glass doors from the bathroom to the pool if you wanted to jump out of the tub/shower and in the pool I guess. The terrace had a queen size outdoor mattress, a nice table and chairs as well as 2 lounge chairs. Our rooms had an abundance of closet space, a seating area with a table, sofa and two bean bags and a full bar area, the mini fridge is fully stocked (not free) but still has room for your personal drinks etc. Read less

The pool at the villa was beautiful - gorgeous colour, spotless, big and just lovely. We spent most of our time in the pool and lazing on the deck drinking wine and chatting - paradise. Our family had two other tropical oasis villas right nearby and they were also gorgeous but the addition of the ocean view made our villa one of the loveliest experiences of my life, especially as the sun set over the ocean...sigh.We had bought one of the Luxury Escapes packages and it was very worthwhile. The food at the resort was good and we loved the sweet spots. This resort is very cool with lots of cute little touches and I loved communicating with the hotel via whatsapp. Apart from all that the huge plus of the W was the wonderful staff. They were all so friendly and warm as well as efficient and professional - the room 'stylists', the girls and guys in the restaurants, the welcome and bar staff - all amazing and a huge credit to the GM and the W brand. We have found our happy place and we will be back soon! Thank you W for a wonderful holiday... Read less

This was our first time in Koh Samui and as a Marriott member and a W fan I wanted to stay at what is labelled as one of the best W hotels in the world. It didn't disappoint. We booked a Jungle Escape and were upgraded by the hotel as I'm Marriott Titanium member, to an Ocean View Escape. Nothing prepares you for the view when you walk in to your villa, it's spectacular. The room has a combined bedroom and lounge area with a large bed, sofabed and some great storage, which is one thing that most W hotels lack. All 74 villas come with their own pool which is large enough that you wouldn't need to go to the main pool but we did visit the main pool twice, just for a change of scenery. The room had an outdoor shower as well as a bath and inside shower. It was actually a great feeling to shower outside so it's not just a gimmick. The room itself was a great space to spend time in but I do think they should invest in a proper Bluetooth sound system as there was just a small speaker beside the bed. We had breakfast every day at The Kitchen Table which had a great buffet selection and a few stations for eggs, pancakes and juices. The service was great here and the staff were always smiling, attentive and were always close by when you needed anything. The same staff work down at the pool, WET where we had some food and a few tasty Mai Tais one day. The beach bar Sip had a 2 for 1 happy hour every day between 4:30pm and 6:30pm on beer and select cocktails. The beach also hosts a fire show on Tuesday nights and I think they show a movie on Monday nights too. The beach itself was a great place to chill during late afternoon and watch the sun set, we captured some of the most amazing photos here, but the sand is coral based so can be quite rough on the feet. They do loan you beach socks but I preferred the W beach as somewhere to relax instead of somewhere to swim. We headed to WooBar every evening as another Marriott benefit for Platinum members and above is 2 complimentary drinks every day. They have a great way of displaying their menu. They use a small tablet and show you the @woobarkohsamui Instagram page which I think is a great way of showing pictures of the cocktails, they tasted great too and Woobar has DJs on site every evening playing some great music. Waitress Bo was always on hand with recommendations and was able to offer some recommendations on things to see around the island. The sunken seating pods in WooBar made famous by the pictures of W Koh Samui are reserved for hotel guests so it was normally quite easy to sit there. The one thing that stood out at this hotel though was the people (all of them) and the service and the one member of staff who really stood out was Big, the Welcome Manager. Following a hiccup at check-in , he followed up with us and really made us feel welcome and special. He checked on us regularly during our stay and it wasn't just us, he was always around chatting to guests and making sure everything was going OK. Nothing was too much trouble and he was able to recommend bars and restaurants in the local area and things to do outside the hotel too. Big is the greatest asset any hotel could have and W Koh Samui are lucky to have him. I actually can't wait to return here in 2020. Read less

For our first trip to Thailand and Koh Samui, we couldn't find a better place to stay than the W Koh Samui. If you intend to rest peacefully and have tons of unique and fun activities, you can hardly find a resort more satisfying. It's very close to fisherman's wharf and the airport. Upon checked in, we were greeted by the hotel manager "Big", his warm welcome and attention to detail was absolutely amazing, along with all staffs at reception, who proceeded our booking in no time(+), offered us a room upgrade(++) and literally check us into the room himself and made sure we have EVERYTHING we could ever wish for (++++). Not to mention the lovely welcome drink and the cold towels :) We were aware of being very fortunate guests! The first impression in this resort is that of design, cleanliness & overall beauty. And after such a warm welcome, we were under the spell of the highly effective, attentive & courteous personnel. After quickly settling in our beautiful ocean view villa (perfect for a couple), and admiring the general splendor of the room, we immediately went for a dip in our private pool. It's remarkably clean, well maintained. Water is crystal clear. The beach area in the resort perimeter is also clean & well maintained (worth being noted is that there are some sea urchins during the summer season, so be sure to take a pair so sea shoes on the beach before getting into the water). The weather was cloudy with some sun during our 4-day stay, so our sea baths were rather therapeutic massages, with the waves, than swimming sessions :) We really enjoyed both pool & beach; it's very cool to switch from one to another. The gym is small but has all it needs. We didn't try the spa, which is probably another highlight. Back to the room, we especially liked the king size bed. It's extremely comfortable to sink into the bed sheets and to rest on the numerous thick soft pillows. The wall-mounted flat TV is absolutely great. Surprisingly, the signal is perfect and the image beautiful. No great resort without a large breakfast buffet of choice. It was pretty enjoyable. There is something for everyone, including fresh coconut water. During our stay, we were invited for two fun events: Sunset cruise and Summer pool party. During the sunset cruise, we had an amazing opportunity to meet Kent. (guest relations manager? ). What an amazing and fun guy who really went above an beyond his call of duty to make sure we had a great time! On the cruise, we chatted about my favorite street food in Thailand. I told him that I was sad I won't get to eat it again since we are checking out the next day. And within minutes, he offered to buy it for us and bring it to the hotel the next morning so we can have it for breakfast. I was shocked and grateful but wasn't sure if he meant it. The same evening, we attended the summer pool party where we got our own table (I can only imagine that's Big's doing) and saw Kent again. It was a fun time that ran late into the night and I can only assume Kent was there until 2-3 in the morning - we didn't get to say goodbye to him before we head back to our room. The next day as we were eating breakfast, a lunchbox showed up, hand-delivered to our table, and it was the street food that we had chatted about the day before---I was beyond touched. Kent, if this message gets to you - I hope you know that I was truly touched especially learning that you were scheduled off the next day that you still got up early and got this for me! It was my breakfast and my lunch at the airport. Thank you!!! The attention to detail, the kindness, the sincerely of all of the staff and hotel crew at the W may not be something you experience in other luxury hotels. We've stayed at the Riz and the Four Seasons, but the personal touch and connection of this place truly made our first experience in Thailand magical- we felt like a fun group of family. That's all for the resort and its vicinity, and that's already a lot. As pointed out above, it's not far from the airport, but it's also ideally located if you intend to explore the island long and wide with the free hotel shuttle bus. You can book daily tours at the reception. Or, as we did, you can rent a scooter or call Grab (uber in thailand) to explore the town. In summary, the W is a superb place for holidays or for a break of a few days. We sleep and rest well, we eat well, we have great pool & beach, and we have many opportunities from there. All the amazing staff does a wonderful job to meet your needs and make your stay as comfortable as possible. Since nothing is ever perfect, a few suggestions to conclude. Internet: - Having to log-in daily in order to connect to wifi is a bit surprising, not sure if this can be changed to 2-3 days -A walkway desinated for guests walking..it was a bit dangerous trying to dogged the golf carts especially at night -A sign of warning to let us know we need shoes before heading into the ocean Thank you for your patient reading! Wow 😲 Now this is the way to holiday! Seclusion, atmosphere, exceptional service and the feeling that your enjoying your holiday with friends rather than staying at a hotel. We traveled under a ‘Luxury Escapes’ package which afforded us breakfast, an evening cocktail & dinner during each day of our stay. The ‘away spa’ was truly bliss, Fong Beer & Dip provided us with daily relaxation a must for holiday relaxing and re-charging. ‘Lucky’ at the restaurant took excellent care of us at breakfast with sparkling wine and accommodating at dinner with corkage when we brought our own wine. Nong and her colleagues at Woo Bar were our early evening bridge for setting up the foundations for a great night ahead. We were invited on a sunset 🌅 boat trip by the delightful ‘Ken’ and enjoyed his relaxing Australian charm with glasses of bubbles 🥂. Hats off to Daniel and his team for a wonderful stay, we could not fault this place a must visit and stay venue. 🍾🥂🍸🌞🌝✌️🏖 Read less
