Fantastic location direct on its own beach. Could only be reached by boat. (Resort had a free boat on hourly schedule to the pier.) The resort is a little worn down and not properly maintained - but the service, food and breakfast is of course as it should on a 5-star.

This is my first time to this hotel and indeed Thailand and I would definitely go back. The location is picture perfect, food breathtakingly good, and the staff are some of the best I have encountered in any hotel in the world. Some particular mentions for service above and beyond go to Game in guest services who was the friendliest person and really a credit to the hotel. Game made sure we had all the information we needed when checking in, and every time we saw him he had a smile on his face and was always happy to offer any help. Zackie in the Thai restaurant and Tammy were both were really happy and went out of their way to ensure you were looked after. I’d also like to thank Sathith (one of the managers) who was super helpful and friendly and is also a real credit to the hotel. Useful Tips and Info • Service and government charges - all of the prices you see on menu (including spa, food and drink) will have 17% added to them. Not a huge deal but just something to be mindful of. • Dress Code – casual - some of the restaurants seem like they should be smarter dress but staff seem happy to accept all dress which is good for those more humid evenings! Accommodation I stayed in an ocean facing room and it was well worth the extra money - waking up to that spectacular view everyday was amazing. The room had everything you’d expect in terms of facilities (toiletries, bottled water etc.), the beds were extremely comfortable, and the balcony is huge so plenty of space to make use of the loungers and sofa should you want to spend some time in your room. The shower was amazing and plenty of space in wardrobe. Food and Drink I went for a full board option and was expecying the usual buffet style lunch and dinner, but not at Centara Grand. You get 3 courses at any of the restaurants (excluding the Japanese) for lunch and dinner and all of them are absolutely amazing. Lotus restaurant (Breakfast) – Breakfast is of a good standard - lots of selection with traditional Thai, Indian and other countries catered for. Lots of fresh fruit and breads and pastries and a great way to start the day. Lotus restaurant (lunch) - The lunchtime menu includes Thai options like red curry, pad Thai etc as well as other delicious international options like scallops and pasta - everything I had here was amazing Coast - this is the open air beach style restaurant serving steak, pizza, pasta, and Thai food on the menu - again everything we had was amazing. Some evenings they had theme nights - we went along to the lobster evening and the lobster was really good. The grill - we went here several times for dinner during our stay. Particular recommendations would be the prawns for starter, and any of the steaks. I was actually quite surprised by the high quality of the food all round and it was always cooked to perfection. Sian Bua (Thai restaurant) - in my opinion the best restaurant here - location is lovely looking over the beach, service amazing, and the food was spectacular. If only was food half as good as this in the UK! Beach The beach was lovely and just what I expected from Thailand. Ao Nang beach is accessible when the tide is low and you can walk round the rocks in the sea or go via “the monkey trail” which is not for the faint hearted due to the steep steps, but unless you’re looking for a bit of action don’t bother. The beach at Centara Grand is plenty big enough, and when I stayed was never busy. Staff As I mentioned all the staff are great, friendly and cannot do enough for you. I would not hesitate in recommending the Centara Grand to anybody. I would absolutely come back and am really sad to be leaving. Thank you Centara Grand! Read less

We stayed here for 10 nights during Christmas 2019. Having previously stayed at the Centara Grand Karon/Patong, were a little worried this would not have much to do in the evening... due to location/accessibility... Overall: - Tropical setting, really nice hotel and layout. - Really very beautiful and exceeded expectations in terms of location and feel. Room: - Seaview Spa Room, could not have been any better. - No need Club upgrade, as you will spend a lot of time in the Hot Tub! Facilities: - Pool - Great, need to get up early to get a sun-bed (a little package-holidayish) - Gym, had everything needed for a good workout and it all worked well, with AC and good quality. - Kayaking and Paddle-boarding available, excellent around the coast. Spa: - Standard, Overpriced. We really like 90 minutes massage on holiday in the morning but at THB 3000 vs THB 500 outside. - Challenging in this case as we had to walk the Monkey trail to go and get morning massage... whilst slightly inconvenient, was a good workout, if not a bit of a faff (lots of massage shops/beachfront tables at the end of the Monkey trail). - Hotel should consider some massage beds on the beach, would be very busy. Restaurants: - Breakfast was amazing. - Others not that great. Had a variety of Thai food, all pretty average. - Ordered Massaman at the pool restaurant, was awful... layer of oil on the top, I sent it back. Got another 45 minutes later, which was ok. Staff were very helpful, just didn’t taste great and slow service in general. - Thai Buffet night was fun, dancers etc, very entertaining, food was ok, but now wow. - Pizza was very good. Boats/Monkey Trail: - There is a boat every hour to the mainland, but it goes to a different location to where the main shops etc are. - Boats stop at 11pm, we never used. - Really to get to the main area of town, this is at the end of the Monkey Trail. - There are no monkeys, not sure where they were but we walked 1-2x per day and never saw any, only people looking for them! - 15 mins end to end. Its fine. Only downside was late at night... after being out... had to walk back :-(, we dis every night, overall was fun and good workout, probably for the best, if not making it to the gym! Overall: - Hotel was great. Breakfast and western food were awesome. - Thai food, not so great. - Room and setting could not have been better. - Staff were very helpful and friendly. - Monkey trail and accessibility, ok and all good fun, part of the adventure! - We look forward to coming back, great experience, many thanks. We stayed in SPA DELUXE OCEAN FACING - KING room. Before booking the hotel, there were many bad reviews regarding staff's hospitality and cleanliness on internet. We had prepared our mind for that. But once we arrived there we have received a wonderful services from the staff. They responded to our requests kindly and quickly. We could see that they have tried their best. The room was clean. There is no issue about the cleanliness. The bathroom window had some stain but I think it is normal water dried stain. The bath tub had just a litttle dirt but I think it is common as we are at the beach, outside tub has some little sand. It is common thing. Regarding the room itself, the view is very beautiful. We definitely recommend this room. We needed to walk a bit to lobby but this is common as we booked for best view meaning higher on the hill. But it is worth to check when you enter the room if the phone works well before staff leaves. As for the meal, we enjoyed breakfast and meals there. They prepared such a nice authentic Thai taste. Spicy but not too spicy. There are various Thai menus and they changed them everyday. We had trouble bit before going there due to lack of information. Hotel does not provide enough information about Nopparat beach whether it is easy to walk with large luggage, any coffee shop, shops. etc. There is no coffee shop near to the port where we were waiting for the boat to hotel. We hired taxi from airport cost 600 baht. The driver dropped us in front of Nopparat beach. We needed to walk further for 5 mins. There is no problem walking with the luggage. Once arrived the port, Hotel staff took care of our luggage from there. And we just waited for our boat time. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Best place in Krabi

Very nice hotel in Krabi. Even do Krabi has become a very busy place. Not the best place to relax, due to many people and noise. The hotel adds up for a lot of this and makes the vacation very nice. Thailand is nice but the sea is not that nice any more. We all need to act in a Way so we keep the sea clean!
