We chose this hotel after reading reviews and seeing pictures of the location for part of our honeymoon trip. The location is incredible, you are sleeping in the jungle with so many animals! The resort is very big and it’s quite easy to get lost to find your room. Service is superb and the food we had was some of the best we had in Thailand. Ok the beaches are now over populated but it’s a great location to depart for day trips with a boat. At sunset all boats and tourists leaves and you can truly enjoy the privacy of the hotel. Staff had been very welcoming and we had an amazing welcome honeymoon surprise package. Everybody from management to security was very helpful and made us feel at home. We really hope to be back. Some reviews mention the hotel is now dated and to be honest I wouldn’t notice if I didn’t know the hotel was about 20 years old. Only the CD player gave it away as we tried to use Bluetooth to play some music in the room. Yes it was expensive but definitely worth it. You can just wander around Railey beach to realise how much better you can stay at Rayavadee than anywhere else. Thank you so much for the unforgettable experience! Read less

Such a unique amazing stay for a special occasion. The hotel is located in a remote location between several beaches including the famous Railay beach, surrounded by high cliffs, jungle and wildlife. Arrival is by the hotel's own boat transfer and you are greeted straight into the reception area and given a personal orientation of the resort. The rooms are private two-story villas with a living space on the ground and bedroom upstairs. Our villa had a private pool and outdoor garden area which is highly recommended. You will definitely see wildlife throughout the hotel, we had monkeys jumping around on top of the roof and trees above us whilst in the pool. There are four restaurants, we ate one night in the famous Grotto - located on the beach in a cave overlooking the beach at sunset which was fantastic. Another night we opted to have dinner in our room, the menu is great - far more extensive than a usual paired back room service menu. The waited even made up the table outside our room so it was like a private outdoor dinner. Highly recommended. Read less

This hotel has probably the best staff of any hotel I have ever visited. We have visited the Rayavadee on a number of occasions and would always have it on our itinerary for a visit to Thailand. The hotel grounds and location are spectacular but it is the staff from top to bottom that make the difference. When we were recently abandoned by British Airways in Thailand during the current health crisis, it was with the assistance of the front office staff that I was able to return home. The Rayavadee is and will always be a special place to us both and I would recommend it to anyone when we are all able to travel again Read less

Where to begin? What superlatives could even begin to accurately describe the beauty, tranquillity and sheer indulgence of this incredible, world class resort. The speedboat transfer with friendly and immaculately turned out crew give a sample of the experience that awaits. Once you arrive on the emerald shores you are met by the wonderful staff of the resort (Fang) who offer you a welcome drink, cold towel and a brief orientation of the resort before walking you to your own little piece of real estate for the duration of your stay. And what a piece of real estate it is. A two story luxury abode set into the tropical landscape of the resort and appointed luxuriously but also thoughtfully and tastefully. All the pavilions are laid out similarly but they are also logistically placed so that no ones bedroom looks into anyone elses, thus ensuring a level of privacy that has clearly been though out. We should have paid more attention as we were walked to our pavilion because we got lost walking home every night.....but that was half the fun. You could always request a golf cart if you were lazy. The main pool is a site to behold. The photos give you an idea of it, but nothing prepares you for seeing it and the surrounding landscape, with your own eyes. The image is now a memory I hope never to forget. Both Phra Nang Beach and Railay Beach offer wonderful scenery and the Sunsets, on Phra Nang Beach in particular, are some of the most beautiful that I have ever seen. Especially whilst sipping on a glass of Champagne at the Grotto. Much has been said of the fact that these are public beaches and this is true. However, if you want to see the beach empty, silent and in all it's natural beauty, all you have to do is get up early. The first boats arrive at 8am prompt but before this they are completely empty. 7am - 8am would be my recommendation. All the restaurants at Rayavadee are wonderful and the quality of the ingredients, service and ambience is unparalleled. You WILL pay a price for this so don't come without the American Express Card ;-) The flora and fauna is such an important part of Rayavadee and there is lots of information about this in your Pavilion but believe me...you will see Monkeys, you will see Monitor Lizards and goodness knows what else. Nothing quite prepares you for when you first see a troupe of Spectacled Langurs swinging through the trees, a matter of metres away from you. Every contact that you have with the team members at the hotel is a treat. Everyone goes out of their way to make you feel special. If you have the time and the money to book one of their private speedboat tours....do it. We felt like rock stars, Island Hopping on our own twin engine speedboat with a crew of three looking after us was unforgettable. When it's finally time to leave and you push off on the speedboat, with the hotel staff waving you goodbye until the resort disappears from site, you will resign yourself to one single goal......to come back to Rayavadee again.
