Centara Kata Resort Phuket

Phuket, Thailand

The hotel

For a budget bolthole, Centara Kata Resort has a lot going for it. Its location, range of boldly designed rooms, and family-oriented treats all defy the price tag. This means it’s become a favourite for savvy travellers wanting to see Phuket without paying for all the bells and whistles of the fancier resorts. A small hotel, it sits near the shops and restaurants of central Kata, a free shuttle ride from the white sands of Kata Beach; and that’s what most stay here for. But families spending a day back at base are welcomed with three pools, trimmed with a swim-up bar, Jacuzzi, aqua beds, and water slide, as well as a fitness centre, kids’ club, and all-day Thai and International dining.

Extremely disappointed with our first day stay at your hotel. It has been by far the most unfriendly and rude staff i have ever seen, in my 12 visits to Thailand.  Firstly on check in the staff was so very rude, she made all of us u of us including 4 senior citizens and 1 child wait for over an hour, and she demanded money without explaining anything. Then she rudely said that talk to management if we had an issue with her. Thats unheard of in thailand even at 3 star hotels / resorts. Child pool was shut the entire day, we had booked as we wanted the kid to enjoy at the pool but today that too was not available.  The rooms are good , we have two 1 bedroom suites and one more room, but the housekeeping staff is not consistent. Our room did not have bath robes, nor any body lotion or dental kit which is basic even in hotel rooms in basic properties.  Buggy service is non existent (how do you expect senior citizens to go to their room??). For dinner buffet there is almost no Vegetarian options, and those that are there are placed right next to non vegetarian dishes making it a nightmare for Vegans to eat their food. No water is also provided for buffet, which is astonishing.  We asked for dental kit the staff said you are out of stock. Out of stock of dental kit??? Is this a resort or a motel. He had the audacity to tell me to take it from family mart. I think i should tell him to learn manners from a proper Hotel management school, and if the hotel doesn't have basic necessities then i believe i should let other travellers also know.  There is no proper english speaking staff which is a complete disaster.  The house keeping and room service is non performing. This is making me feel like we did a big mistake by booking this property!!!  I wish to highlight that everything id rated 1 out of 10 except just one staff (female) who helped us out at the time of check in. She was the only english speaking, courteous, well mannered and polished staff we have seen in the entire property. Highly disappointed. If things stay this way we would consider taking it up with the management and luxury escapes too. Stay away at this price you could get many better Read less

We loved Centara Kata. We stayed and had other family memes join us. The resort was quiet in August so often we had the whole or the majority of the pool to ourselves. The breakfast was good and there’s an extremely cheap food market next door.
