JW Marriott Phuket Resort & Spa

Phuket, Thailand

The hotel

It's a top-class place, located on pristine, beautiful Mai Khao Beach. The JW Marriott Phuket Resort and Spa was built in the middle of a coconut plantation and the landscaped gardens are particularly attractive with their lush plants and lotus ponds. Hidden among the foliage is the award-winning Mandara Spa where scrubs, wraps, manicures, facials and massages are available. The rooms are very fetching, with tiled floors, silk fabrics and Thai-style décor touches. Candlelit, open-air Thai dining in Andaman Grill is a treat, with locally caught seafood on the menu.

This hotel faces the Andaman Sea! Amazing location. Only 30 min. drive from Phuket International Airport. It's a long drive down to the Elephant Sanctuary (1.5 hour) but we stayed at a nearby Marriott for that part of our holiday to see the elephants. JW Marriott is 5 star luxury. The service is amazing. We were pleasantly surprised the hotel has 24 hour room service available. The property itself is vast. There are tennis courts, three large swimming pools (including a water slide for kiddies) and an adults only pool and a swim up bar open to all. There are activities throughout the week. The kids club is very clean, with staff that will make sure your little one has fun during their stay there. Highly recommend booking for all activities to avoid disappointment, especially the restaurants, they book up fast. There is a shuttle bus (5 min. ride) from the hotel to the Buffet dinner. The property comprises of Marriott hotel itself, alongside Marriott residence (time share properties) so all guests have access to the facilities.. hence it's a good idea to book for dinner reservations. There is an infinity pool that faces the Andaman Sea. It truly is an amazing hotel. The food was incredible. My daughter loved the rice noodles from the Thai menu, as well as Chicken and Chips from the kids menu. Each restaurant is themed so you can have Italian one night, and Japanese another night, with each kids menu matching the type of cuisine. The Concierge was amazing. They arranged a private tour for us to go see the Rubber tree plantation, the Rice farm, Buffalo ride, and lunch at a local restaurant (clean and tasty). I think the lunch was only THB150 for all three of us including drinks! Our private tour guide, Jo spoke English very well and gave us a comprehensive tour of old Phuket. The traffic can be bad after 4pm during week days but we went on a Sunday so was really lucky. JW Marriott app is very useful when booking dinner reservations, tennis courts, and also letting the hotel know your estimated time of arrival for Check In. Our room was ready when we arrived and they even included a chocolate cake in the hotel room for our wedding anniversary. Each night, turn down service can be requested at a specific time. The Chambermaid created all sorts of beautiful animal creatures with face towels. My daughter loved it very much. We will definitely stay at JW Marriott Phuket again. The spa was amazing too! Thank you for making our wedding anniversary so special and memorable. Hope to visit again soon! Thank you! Read less

The sea was a bit rough when we where there (march). Breakfast: extremly good choice, big variety every day, super nice attentive staff. We had always a nice table outside at the terrace. In the evening we went to the Deli Restaurant & the roasted chicken & satay are nice. Ice creaming is also great there. I was a bite surprised that the only western restaurant was the deli & marriott café was closed in the evening, except for one buffet event. Mimi from the Deli is super sweet & attentive. Maybe you could improve the outside sitting in the Deli for the evening that it looks a bite more appealing. Food was always good. Gym: I believe they should improve the equipment. It look really old & the room is dark. I just had a look there but never went because it did not look appealing. The Outrigger Laguna has a much nicer moderner gym. We wanted to book the bike tour but were told that the new bike did not arrive yet. Overall I can strongly recommend the hotel with the excellent staff & breakfast. Our room was also nice with comfy beds. Read less

One of the original resorts. Long been outdone by better located and newer resorts. The beach is steep and narrow and the place just needs a good refresh to get it up to the standard of some of the new places.

The JW Marriott is absolutely gorgeous placed by the sea, immaculately manicured lush gardens and a very impressive and sumptuous reception. No welcoming glass of champagne? Staff are delightful, friendly and attentive, particularly the room staff. Spacious rooms that are beautifully appointed and very comfortable beds. Mosquitoes are a problem and keep constant company all day and night in the room. Tried spraying but they seemed to enjoy just flying through the mist, certainly had no effect on them. Food for our event was good, but as we had a number of vegans (it is a growing trend) in the audience, they were pretty hungry. It is an expensive indulgence and next business visit to Thailand I will book at a more interesting place with local flavour. Read less

The service at this resort is outstanding and was from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. The staff really works hard to make your stay a wonderful experience. I just cannot say enough about their team from the housekeeping to the restaurant staff everyone is very attentive. The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. We just got back less than a week ago and have already booked a room for another stay here. It was our first time visiting Thailand and we started in Bangkok and ended our trip in Phuket and enjoyed Thailand so much that I cannot imagine enjoying any other place as much. We have been to many places around the world but this is definitely our new favorite place and our favorite hotel. We missed out on a few excursions on this visit so were going back for more! The hotel is close to the airport which for us wasn't a big deal as we were picked up at the hotel for our excursions and it didn't take long to get to our destinations. We liked one driver so much and his car was really nice so we hired him for a day to drive us around the island to visit the Big Buddha and other spots. It was less than a $100 US dollars for the day and he was wonderful. My son enjoyed boogie boarding on the beach and they had lots of boogie boards to rent and he had a blast. They have great pools for both kids and adults and the service was outstanding. We never had to ask for ice water to drink the waiter just keep bringing more when we were out or it got warm. We had a great vacation and were so impressed with the staff here. Highly recommend this hotel! Read less
