Six Senses Con Dao

Con Dao, Vietnam

The hotel

Most desert islands are exclusively for couples, but Six Senses Con Dao does things differently. Its beyond-luxury villas are designed with couples, families and groups in mind – and so is its incredible portfolio of activities and dining. Every ocean-facing beach villa is seconds from the sands, with communal living space and a private infinity pool (some even have an extra lap pool). This being Con Dao, Vietnam’s preserved marine park, you have sands, snorkelling and scuba steps away but, in classic Six Senses style, you also have attractions for every kind of traveller: turtle viewing for nature lovers, island tours for culture vultures, stargazing for night owls, spa treatments and family yoga for serenity-seekers, cookery and mixology for gourmands, and boat charters, water sports, trekking, biking and motor biking for the adventurous.

My partner and I stopped at Con Dao as the second destination for our trip in Vietnam. At the airport we were immediately greeted by Six senses staff and were efficiently transferred to the resort. Upon arrival we were greeted by the managers at the entrance sitting area, and were served delicious juice and fruit. We were then introduced to our GEM Andrew, who helped us throughout the entire stay at six senses. The room: Andrew escorted my partner and I to our room Via electric car. We booked the ‘Ocean front duplex villa’ which included our own private pool and direct access to the beach. Absolutely stunning The downstairs bathroom is the most coziest bathroom i have ever seen. Almost everything in the Villa is eco friendly which gives you a very earthy vibe. The bathroom has a nice selection of amenities and they provide citronella mosquito spray, aloe for sunburns and lemongrass body cream. Many of their products are hand made and all from natural plants. I had a very bad sunburn and the aloe definitely helped. The bedroom is super cozy and the bed is the most comfortable bed i have ever slept in. They give you a list of pillows and utensils they can provide for you, you just need to tick the things you’d like and they will deliver it to you during the turn down service. They have a large selection of pillows and i would definitely recommend the body pillow as well as the small peppermint scented bags for the best sleep of your life. The bed comes with a mosquito net over it and the turn down service will light a mosquito ring so you get the ultimate protection from nasty bites. The TV has netflix so you wont be bored in your bedroom. There is a mini coffee machine and a nice selection of dilmah teas. Upstairs also has a small toilet so you wont need to go downstairs in the middle of the night to do your business. The water bottles are glass and Six senses refills them with their own crystal filtered water, so no plastic bottles which is awesome. If you do want drinking water on the go, the gym has water bottles for you to take. The food: Our first day for lunch we ordered a margarita pizza through room service. The flavour was very simple but full. For dinner we dined at the Vietnamese restaurant outdoors. The resort is very dimly lit as to prevent any light pollution (the island is also a military base) but it gave a very peaceful vibe with fairy lights in the trees. The food overall is not as cheap as other vietnamese restaurants you may have been to but it wont break your bank. I highly recommend the fish burger at the main restaurant for lunch. Super fresh tasting, nothing like ive ever had before. Also really love the pork Banh Mi. Six Senses also provides many activities on resort ground and off. At the beach there is kayaking, standing rowing etc. there is also table tennis, mini golf and darts. My partner and I decided to do snorkeling so we called Andrew and he arranged a booking for us. The snorkel guide picks us up and drops us off so there is no hassle for transport. Snorkeling was very fun aside from seeing the bleached corals. Everyday six senses will create new ice cream flavours and theyre available for free between 11am and 6pm, i personally really enjoyed the banana and caramel flavour. Overall our stay was terrific, Everything was perfect up until the last moment. Leaving the resort i was definitely very sad and already planning the next time I’d like to visit Six senses in Con Dao. Really miss Andrew and the team. Thank you all so much. Read less

We stayed at the Six Senses from the 10-13 May, 2019. We had a beachfront, one bedroom duplex Villa. We landed in Con Dao, which is a tiny, Vietnam war built, airstrip. The baggage was out in 10 mins. There is a six sense counter, inside the airport, next to the baggage belt. We were received there and our baggage taken to the transport, which was standing right outside the airport exit. The drive to the resort was gorgeous. The roads and empty and the surroundings green. After a while, there is sea on one side and lush green mountains on the other side. We were greeted by the GM of the resort, who is a lovely bloke. It took 5 mins to check in. The Check-in was done by our GEM(guest experience manager), who will take care of all your needs while during your stay. GEM - our GEM was Vee, who was super friendly and extremely helpful. She helped us plan activities, made suggestions and made every effort to make our stay comfortable and personal. (When we go back again, and we will, we request that Vee stays as our GEM). Villa - the villa is absolutely gorgeous. The bedroom is on the top floor (same level as the road that leads to it) and then the bathroom, which is massive, is on the floor below. Outside the bathroom is a patio with the pool infront and the steps leading down to the beach. Food - we did a full board (American plan). The breakfast is very well laid and is served on the restaurant on the beach. It is absolutely stunning. The restaurant has 2 managers, Mo’ath and Dhruv. Both of them are extremely polite and give you personalised attention. It was great having a conversation with them. Dhruv suggested things we could do including touring the city (which we did) and Mo’ath gave us his personal number and offered to help us on our next trip to Jordan (he’s Jordanian). Very pleased to meet both of them. A shoutout to Lai for also making our stay pleasant. Beach - absolutely gorgeous. Serene and secluded. During our stay the beach was almost always empty and hence was great to be on the beach all alone, as a couple. The seawater is warm and very comfortable. The Vietnamese restaurant at the resort also makes fresh, great food! It has an open layout. One day we took a motorbike (rented from the resort) and drove around the island, which is absolute gorgeous. We would definitely go back again. Ideally, the best time and weather to go is Feb to April. (We’d do that again). There is a beach, on a separate island, nearby where the turtles come and lay eggs. This happens in end May to June (some also do that on the beach of this resort). It would be worth seeing the baby turtles hatch, though this time doesn’t necessarily have the best weather. Again a big thanks to - Vee, Mo’ath, Dhruv and Lai Read less

My husband and I stayed in Six Senses Con Dao for our honeymoon and it was truly perfect. The setting, the landscape and our room were all amazing but the level of service and care that the Six Senses staff put into our stay really made it special. One night during happy hour we were chatting with Gin the bartender about the rest of our stay in Vietnam. He said he had some recommendations and a few nights later he found us and gave us a paper with a bunch of personal recommendations that he had taken the time to write out. Our GEM (guest experience manager), Andrew also went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. It was the perfect combination of really feeling cared for, and also having privacy and the freedom to do your own thing. It was truly a perfect trip. In such an amazing setting everything already felt perfect but people like Andrew and Gin really made it special. Read less

We stayed at the Six Senses Resort in Con Dao inform us, so we paid 70,000 VND for two cupduring early May when the weather was very hot and very sunny. From the first day to the last day, everything was exceptional, the food, the villas, the service, the environment and the activities. Every restaurant we ate at served delicious food and the room service was no different. While it was a struggle to leave our villas because of how amazing it was with the balcony and the private infinity pool, we went around doing multiple activities, all of which brought a massive smile to our faces. Our GEM was Andrew and he offered the best service I have ever had in my entire life, always ready to help out with bookings or general inquiries despite juggling 4 or 5 other villas at the same time. One of the things that sets this resort different from the rest are its sustainability and use of environmentally-friendly materials - we barely noticed any use of plastic at all! Remember to bring your wallets as the activities, spa treatments and food are on the pricier side, but regardless an excellent place to stay if you are visiting Con Dao. If there was one thing I had to pick that was bad was when you get quoted the prices for different things, they don't include the VAT tax or the service fees, and also when they offer you water at restaurants, be mindful that you will most likely have to pay for it but they didn't inform us so we paid 70,000 VND for two cups of water. Overall, amazing place to stay, would recommend to anyone and would stay again. They even shouted us a complimentary Audi to the airport as we were leaving! ;) Read less

Six senses Con Dao April 19 to 20 This was our second trip to Six Senses Con Dao but this time with our daughter and her family. It was a most memorable trip. Six senses con dao has maintained its high standard of service, in fact it is exceptional. The staff are friendly and always ready to help and answer a question. The meals especially the breakfast were amazing in terms of quality, freshness and range. The villas are spectacular: clean and eco friendly with an unsurpassed view of the sea and mountains and a private beach. A great place to unwind and relax as a sense of tranquility and peace will inevitably just envelop you as you enjoy the views. The children enjoyed playing on the beach with its crystal clear water and most of all they enjoyed the delicious kids’ meal to the delight of my daughter and I am sure other parents will feel the same. It will be our preferred and favourite holiday destination for many years to come! Read less
