There is a site nearby which was so noisy in the early morning. The fridge at my room is out of order, so I need to call room service for ice. I found the facilities were older than my first visit in 2018. The spa menu is less attractive than before. However, I still found the wonderful service from the frontline and front desk.

This was second visit and the quality and service was once again very good. The beach at the hotel is very good. Food prices are on high side . We felt the cost of the dinners in the main restaurant were high as they were all you can eat. We used the pool bar for dinners a la carte and they were reasonable price and quality was excellent

To be honest I couldn’t rate the resort either good or bad, but I can tell you from traveling to quite a few places, it’s more toward the bad side on my scale. Firstly, when we had finally arrived from the United Kingdom, on one long 14 hour flight, followed by a 2 hour flight, then followed by a 3 hour car journey, myself and my newly wedded husband had to wait for our room for 3/4 hours before we could even contemplate getting a nap. This was not great at all, as we even looked tired and were finding it hard to keep our eyes open. We were met by our ‘fusionista’, who from what I understand was supposed to look after us and check in with us every morning at breakfast, however we didn’t really see much of him throughout our stay but he did get another member of staff to check in with us. When those 3/4 hours were up, we were taken to the room. Can’t fault the room, it’s nicely decorated, spacious, not too old fashioned as I had read from a previous comment. Not so sure about the idea of the open bathroom though! The swimming pool in the garden area was nice, but always full of hovering flies and dead floating ants, and the seating area wasn’t very welcoming as looked like it hadn’t been cleaned or tidied before our arrival. Our first night at the hotel, was a very disturbed evening. We could hear banging from a next door room from 8.30-1.00am which echoed in the bathroom and made a awful noise. I let the staff know and they said they would speak to the people. However on all nights I have heard either banging or noise from a drill late night/early hours of morning when supposed to be sleeping!. . I know it can’t be helped, and that De Nang is an up and coming place. But honestly all the reviews below are very wrong because I can hear the noise constantly, even at 2am when you would think the world would be sleeping, they’re hammering away? And back up again as early as 6am. So, this ‘romantic honeymoon’ wasn’t so peaceful and quiet as everyone else in the reviews had stated. Our room was even at the other side of the ‘small resort’ and we could hear it loud and clear, I noticed that there are rooms right under the building works, and people are still staying in them, how I don’t know. The beach, I took some very brief walks on the beach, to be totally honest, it’s not very appealing/welcoming at all. There is plastic and polystyrene, socks, bottles, plastic gloves and lids all coming on the beach shore/floating in the water, which needs cleaning up and taking care of (See attached photos) I know it’s most probably not your rubbish, but it doesn’t look very good, and I feel hotels should do more to look after our beautiful world! I even noticed that they were advertising as a activity to do litter picking - all well and good, but we’re on holiday, I do this stuff at home? Can’t you just get some of your employees to look for the waste and remove it? The pool/beach staff tend just to be sat around with nothing to do. Also, The sand at the front of beach is all uneven making it hard to get to and from the shore, as it has made a ‘cliff’. I work with properties and know how destroying a leak can be to any building. And I noticed in our bathroom, specifically the toilet area there was a large puddle of water appearing after rain, with further investigation I found there to be a leak, it was so hard to even speak to anyone who understood English and what I was saying, made me feel like i shouldn’t have even mentioned it in the first place. They then asked us to leave our room for this to be fixed - but offered us free drinks for our patience. There was no thanks for the fact I let them know about the leak, just lots of confusion! Moving on to the food now, from what I have tasted I cannot fault the food, they have great chefs, everything is made fresh and tastes amazing! But my one criticism for their food is the attitude they have with special diets/allergies, I felt like I was a burden on them with my vegan diet. They have known I was coming and about my diet since more than a year ago. . Normally when I go away they’re fine to adapt to it and cook whatever I want, whenever I want. But the Fusion Maia had a different stance, and told me at breakfast that I couldn’t have specially made pancakes today because it would take too long to prepare - I was there at 7.30am and it doesn’t finish until 10.30, it doesn’t take that long to make some vegan pancakes trust me! And then, when they have their special dinner buffet, again ‘not sure what you can have’ and made me feel really awful about my asking, however they did make me two splendid meals that evening, it was just the attitude. The breakfast buffet looks great, and I notice a few maybe suitable for vegan items - coconut yogurt, soya milk etc - would be nice for all these to be labelled as Vegan as I only ate fruit the whole holiday. After spending two weeks eating pretty much the same foods rotated every other day, breakfast: fruit, lunch: fresh vegetable rolls, French fries, vegetable clay pot, cauliflower for dinner. I’m glad to be going back home where I can eat a more varied diet. On another note; on our dinner on the beach I had a vegan menu, and for desert had ‘coconut sorbet’ however I’ve asked every day since the ingredients of it so I can have it again and it apparently contains dairy cream as well as coconut milk, which is concerning as I have a very serious allergy to dairy products and was fed this ice cream/sorbet and was told after when trying to have it again it’s not suitable . We also wished to eat at the Five restaurant a lot more, but it seemed most evenings they were holding a 300,000 dong per person buffet - which isn’t great for someone who can’t eat much! We did however enjoy a lovely private dinner on the beach, with some complimentary cocktails. This was lovely and would recommend to anyone thinking of coming here, totally worth the money. Breakfast anytime anywhere is a great idea, meaning there’s no rush to get out of bed to go grab some food - my husband was a huge fan, i didn’t experience this as it wasn’t suitable for a vegan diet. The minibar fridge in the room - see photo. Some of the chocolate (two which I ate) and later found out that it was past it’s sell by date? Which was replaced by another one past it’s use date. So from the above, there are some pointers which if I’d have known before, would have probably determined if we went here for our honeymoon or not. Having said all of the above, I cannot fault the Spa at the resort, there isn’t many places you can visit and get 2 complimentary spa treatments a day, and from all the ones I tried at the resort I enjoyed each and every one. So credit to them, and their hard working spa staff. But I would not rathe manicure at all, my hands look like a child’s painted them, and I informed them prior I had gel polish on and asked if it was ok for them to remove, they said yes and then it was apparent that it was a issue on the day in the appointment., and my nails were hacked and got all dints in them. Also, going forward we as a couple have tried to be more focused on going ‘green’/eco friendly and I have read that the hotel is also edging that way - already no plastic straws, instead using paper, glass and plants which I thought was amazing! There are so many other things which can be done with this idea too, so big thumbs up with this one! - ideally if the shower caps weren’t bagged in a plastic bag, and even weren’t made out of plastic would be a great thing, also the underwear, shaver, tooth brush etc is all wrapped in plastic, bottles for all of the complimentary shower gels etc could be made from something more efficient? Then the endless bottles of water supplied in the rooms and at the side of the pool, what’s happening to all those bottles? I just feel, if you are doing a little about our environment, you should do the full works? Just some food for thought, il leave it at that. I don’t think I would come back to the Fusion Maia again, and I wouldn’t rate it for a honeymoon destination, nothing was done to make it different to just a normal holiday. We saw our fusionista not even half of our trip, I found it incredibly hard to speak to a lot of the staff, or get the correct information regarding situations in my stay. Read less
