Due to coronavirus and renovations at the hotel, the main restaurant and the lounge were closed. However the cafe was open for breakfast and lunch, with a number of sandwich and pastry options which were very tasty. The Wapiti Room was serving dinner, we only ate there once but the food was outstanding - one of the best meals we've had. Staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. Hotel is about 25 mins walk into town - bit of an uphill on the way back but not too strenuous. There are at least 2 brilliant hikes in the immediate area - the Tunnel Mountain Trail, and the Hoodoos Trail, both of which are stunning (though we were there in winter and some of the paths were tough to traverse without cleats - definitely purchasing some for our next visit). Overall, highly recommend the Buffalo Mountain Lodge and will definitely stay again should we come back to Banff. Read less

Was a little concerned we would be too far out of Banff but in reality a 15 minute walk down the hill while taking in the breath taking views that surround Banff was fabulous. If weather was not so great or was too dark or late at night or just did not want to walk up the hill on the return trip there was the Free Shuttle bus provided by the Lodge. The accommodation was just lovely with the amazingly comfortable king size bed and separate kitchenette, with dining table, lounge and YES an open fire place with wood reset and provided every day. It was truly a home away from home with hot outdoor spa, restaurant and cafe at our doorstep. The staff’s service was exemplarily..attending to our needs weather it was servicing the room, answering questions on the area, printing our plane tickets for us, serving us at the restaurant or just at the bar enjoying a few drinks and pre dinner nibbles. We loved our stay so much we rebooked to come back later in the month after touring a bit further afield. This is the perfect location to easily access Banff but to have a gorgeous quite location. Thank you for making our holiday so special. Read less

Title says it all. We were there for a ski weekend with our family and it was a great place. We would recommend it to others. We did not visit the restaurant / bar but it looked like a nice place to spend an evening as well.

Myself and my partner have just returned from a five night stay here. We stayed in a premier room and it was beautiful. Staff went out of their way to help and accommodate all requests, and taught us how to set up the fire ourselves. We had complimentary ear plugs which concerned us a bit! But we only heard our neighbours once. We did request a room on the first floor which I think helped with there not being any bother from the noise. The hot tub was lovely, and big enough that even when there were others in it, it wasn’t a bother. The room was clean and made up every day and the breakfast offered was lovely too. It is a short walk out of the centre, but the walk is fine and there is also a roam bus (number 2) that stops just at the hotel opposite, for $2 a ride or $5 for a day pass - if you go by the timetables it’s super convenient! I would 100% recommend staying here. The surroundings are beautiful, and the rooms have a rustic charm. Read less
