Sunshine Mountain Lodge

Banff, Alberta

The hotel

It could sell out purely because it’s the only ski-in/ski-out hotel in Banff National Park, but the team behind Sunshine Mountain Lodge didn’t think that was enough. Pulling out all the stops, they’ve also packed in the area’s biggest al fresco hot pool, an indulgent spa, a ski boutique (so you can travel light and arrive on the slopes bang on trend), huge windows that frame the incredible scenery, a family room with everything from Wii to a pool table, and evening activities like movie nights, snowshoeing, and tobogganing. Dressed in wood and stone, the lodge delivers on authentic Rockies charm too — and on true mountain après-ski (and pre-ski) treats, with its gondola-side café and crêperie, Canadian bistro, grill bar, smokehouse, and Chimney Corner Lounge, where you can cosy up around the fire each night, with rich hot chocolate.

Person at the bottom where we dropped our luggage was a bit unfriendly but other than that, everyone was super helpful and lovely. Room nice, beds comfy. Hot tub awesome and loved that we were on the slopes. Java cafe great, other than that, food ok, could be better given hotel has a captive market?

Everyone we dealt with among the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room, while small, was very attractive and tastefully decorated. While the room was small, it was very attractive and tastefully decorated.

Sunshine staff at the base and on hill were very helpful throughout. The meals were excellent. On a personal note, I found the bed a bit firm and interfered with sleep. A foam topper might have helped. I was tour coordinator for our group. I received no complaints from group members. I am sure our Club will want to return to Sunshine. Thank… Read more

The hotel itself is very nice and obviously in a prime location, however, it was pretty expensive for what kind of room we got. The walls are also paper thin so it was very loud in the morning. On a positive note, I absolutely loved the shower products that very provided!
