Sunshine Mountain Lodge

Banff, Alberta

The hotel

It could sell out purely because it’s the only ski-in/ski-out hotel in Banff National Park, but the team behind Sunshine Mountain Lodge didn’t think that was enough. Pulling out all the stops, they’ve also packed in the area’s biggest al fresco hot pool, an indulgent spa, a ski boutique (so you can travel light and arrive on the slopes bang on trend), huge windows that frame the incredible scenery, a family room with everything from Wii to a pool table, and evening activities like movie nights, snowshoeing, and tobogganing. Dressed in wood and stone, the lodge delivers on authentic Rockies charm too — and on true mountain après-ski (and pre-ski) treats, with its gondola-side café and crêperie, Canadian bistro, grill bar, smokehouse, and Chimney Corner Lounge, where you can cosy up around the fire each night, with rich hot chocolate.

A special thanks to "Prince Phillip" our snowboard instructor, he was such a great teacher with a fantastic training approach! only thing I would have liked is a minibar fridge. Read less

We've stayed at the Sunshine Mountain Lodge multiple times now at this point, both in the summer and winter. This stay was consistent with every other stay - fantastic service, great rooms and unbeatable location. While the Lodge is remote and only accessible via gondola, with some planning ahead, it's not an issue. Plus, the resort has plenty of amenities that allows guests to stay on the mountain without needing to travel into Banff. The rooms has always been a huge selling point for our family. Though small, the storage and shelving is perfect for hiking or ski gear. We've never had an issue as a family of three staying in one of the smaller rooms because there is a place for everything, including all our bathroom items. And, of course, it's the perfect location for skiing or hiking. The ski lockers are super convenient as well as roomy for skis, boots, helmets and other gear. In the summers, we love starting our hikes from Sunshine and venturing out into Banff National Park. There are countless trails accessible from the Lodge. No complaints from us! Read less

All aspects of this hotel are A-1 . Service throughout the hotel is fantastic from front desk to restaurant to spa to housekeeping. Rooms were clean and quiet. Beds were comfortable. Beautiful being on the mountain and being able to ski/board right out the door

The tiles are coming off and there for it makes it look very tired. We ate in the Eagle lounge but again it was tired and very dirty. The carpet by the fireplace was filthy with food and other… Read more
