You can feel like a princess having brunch on Sunday at this old, beautifully kept CP hotel built in the early 20th century. Fantastic selections of breakfast and lunch options. It is like coming to the palace, great guest service and one of our favorite rooms in Fairmont Gold. Food in Library Lounge and Harvest Room top, with the lights and patio decorated, made it feel like a Christmas Wonderland.

I have stayed in Edmonton many times on business, and have stayed in most (if not all) of the city hotels. I have the pleasure of visiting Edmonton 2 times a month, from my home in Vancouver. Edmonton is a wonderful city, with amazing restaurants, people, and outdoor activities (both summer and winter), but it has relatively few good hotels. The Fairmont Hotel Macdonald is an exception: it is excellent. Especially the Gold Floor. I have stayed at this hotel on about 10 different occasions in the past 6 months. I usually book on the Gold Floor, and I highly recommend it. The staff is wonderful: courteous without being in your face. The renovated rooms are modern, clean, and quiet, which can be a concern in an older hotel. Food selections at breakfast are excellent, housekeeping is quiet, and any small issue that I have had was always dealt with professionally and quickly. One of my favorite things about this hotel is its location right downtown, with excellent parking. I can walk to all my meetings and often slip back to the hotel for lunch. The fitness rooms are fantastic: there are a lot of free weight and machine options, and the room is NOT stuffy and crammed into a small space. All in all, this is my first (and only) choice for a hotel in Edmonton. If you find yourself in Edmonton, do yourself a favor and book at the Fairmont on the Gold Floor. Other downtown hotels (Westin, Coast, Marriott, Union Bank) are not even in the same class as the Fairmont. I look forward to going to Edmonton because I book at the Fairmont. To all the staff on the Gold Floor, and at the hotel in general, congratulations on a job well done. Read less
