Over the last 5 years we have made it tradition to celebrate our anniversary on July 1 by staying at the Fairmont MacDonald. Though the COVID19 pandemic has created many challenges, we decided to book on the reopening day of the hotel - July 2. We were extremely impressed with the extent of the health precautions the hotel has put into place!! Safety of staff and guests was definitely a priority and we felt a 'calm' throughout our visit. The reduction of staff did not affect the degree of excellent customer service we received from the moment we entered the hotel to the moment we left! THANK YOU ONE AND ALL for making our anniversary stay, albeit 'different' in this COVID-19 environment, still very memorable and wonderfully relaxing. We salute everyone for going the extra mile while multi-tasking and exemplifying what a true 'team' is all about.....well done! Read less

My husband and I came to Edmonton in early March for a medical appointment and decided to make our night away special by staying at the Fairmont Mac. As always this visit did not disappoint, there’s just something magical as you pull up outside this beautiful castle and the valet meets you. We stayed in a deluxe river view room everything was clean and comfortable. We strolled around the hotel taking in the amazing architecture of the building, we enjoyed a cappuccino in the lounge in the afternoon and returned later that evening and sampled so many great cocktails, Tyler our server was exceptional. We ordered room service breakfast and the service and food was perfect. We had called for our vehicle from the valet and then realized I had to be at the hospital earlier than I thought when I called back and explained I was told not to worry they would get the vehicle right away, exceptional customer service experiences like that just make you feel special. Looking forward to visiting again when they reopen. Read less

We stayed at the Mac over Christmas last year as we have often done in the past. Our family absolutely loves this hotel. The history, the staff, The Food! These old railroad hotels are very special. Everything big that happened tended to be at these grand hotels. Melville C. Hayes, President of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, had this gem built… Read more

Everything big that happened tended to be at these grand hotels. Melville C. Hayes, President of the Grand Trunk Pacific Railway, had this gem built but never got to see it finished as he was lost on Titanic. I wish this building could speak. Read less
