Image of the Tripadvisor rating Large Rooms but a long walk to central Jasper

May 24, 2019 CairnsAussie52 Cairns

Large king size beds and plenty of soace in rooms. We were on the bottom floor. The room was warm and we were unable to cool the room to sleep comfortably without the use of a portable fan in the room. Breakfast was good and excellent service. Reception staff were friendly too. Location is a good walking distance to the center of Jasper.

We stayed here as part of a tour group. Good sized rooms with temperature control problems. Windows needed to be opened all night. Clean and tidy. Breakfast was OK. kettle cord was to short to plug in anywhere safe. Staff appeared friendly. Some improvements are required.

Well here we are for the night at the end of day 1 of a Key West tour to Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise. We arrive around 8pm and are on the 3rd floor of a tired looking lodge. Well here we are for the night at the end of day 1 of a Key West tour to Jasper, Banff and Lake Louise. We arrive around 8pm and are on the 3rd floor of a tired looking lodge. Could definitely do with updating. Tables are stacked outside our bedroom door. The room is spacious with 2 big queen sized beds. It is clean and functional. We went to the dining room for dinner after being on the coach (bar a few pit stops) since 8am. We waited to be seated in a large and almost empty dining room. Around 23 tables were laid and only 3 occupied. 2 members of staff noticed, then ignored us. Seating was clearly not their job, so after a couple of minutes I approached them to ask if we could just seat ourselves. This seemed a tricky question so they went off to ask someone. A very polite lady came over and seated us by the window, having scanned the room to see what was available. We were then told - fish and chips were off the menu as was the chicken. Advising we are vegetarians, she then told us ALL the pizzas were off too. This left caesar salad or mushroom ravioli. There were 4 dessert options, but 1 was definitely off and we didn't wait to hear about the others. Food was okay - can't really go wrong with lettuce. Breakfast was buffet style. Overall staff were pleasant, place was clean but dated and if you know you have a coach tour arriving the dining experience was poor. Read less

Also this room is alongside the reception area so you hear a lot of people coming and going and detai,s of their conversations. The steam shower in the room wasn't working, there was a note apologising for this. The long black hairs in the corner of the shower were an unwanted addition. The room was very warm and the thermostat wasn't working, but you can open the windows so that was helpful. Hotel is generally very dated but the bed was comfortable which is a plus. Also the Starbucks off the lobby is great. Read less

Yes we had a very large bedroom with two huge beds in it but we were a couple and that's not a bonus. We arrived in the evening we were tired and didn't feeling like walking into Jasper do we went down to the restaurant. This was a huge unwelcoming place and the menu was rubbish. I ordered a glass of red wine, a stupid choice I know but it went straight down the sink! We ordered beef burgers nothing to say about them but the thin chips were palatable. I would not recommend staying here we stayed in other lodges which were far superior. Read less
