Emerald Lake Lodge

Lake Louise, Alberta

The hotel

Ensconced in stunning natural surroundings, Emerald Lake Lodge is set in the heart of Yoho National Park, overlooking the jade-coloured waters of Emerald Lake. In traditional lodge style, the cosy guestrooms here each have a wood-burning fireplace and balcony and are set within 24 buildings, scattered amongst the 38-acres of grounds and gardens. There’s no shortage of history within these timber walls either; you’ll discover centuries-old fireplaces and a lounge with an oak bar salvaged from an 1892 Yukon saloon. The magnificent dining room serves exceptional Rocky Mountain cuisine and the Main Lodge features reading and sitting rooms for quiet contemplation. Due to the lodge's remote setting, there's no mobile reception, but if you wish check on life back home there’s a games room with TV and internet access. During your stay here, take a canoe out on the lake, relax in the outdoor hot tub, explore the numerous hiking trails or simply enjoy the fine hospitality as you take in spectacular alpine vistas and the clear mountain air.

The resort as a whole is getting run down. The roof on cilantro is caving in, the grounds are not landscaped at all, the dock has caved in. The place seemed in disrepair. Far cry from what is shown on your Instagram feed.

We had high hopes for this spot and chose it to celebrate my 40th birthday. We made a huge mistake. The first night there we woke up to a mouse going through our stuff. There was mouse poop throughout the room and we had to ask multiple times for the room to be cleaned. When they did clean the room and removed the garbage at our request, they left the garbage bags on the ground outside the room until we left the next day (over 12hrs and overnight). Despite maintenance setting traps in the room our second night involved a romantic fire in the room with mice literally running across the hearth. We checked out a day early and this place left us with nothing but disappointment. Would not recommend. The property is run down and in bad need of upgrades. Drive to the lake, take a photo and then stay at another hotel Read less

Food was amazing and felt like we had the place to ourselves. Front desk staff (particularly the Australian girl from Perth) were so helpful and knowledgeable, a 10/10 first impression! Would definitely come back.

Emerald Lake is just the place to escape it all with no TVs in rooms, and limited reception/internet services. The setting is gorgeous with plenty of snow. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and staff are friendly and approachable. Our dog loved his stay- with lots of options for the outdoors. Cannot wait to return!

Great view and nice place to getaway. The restaurant has very delicious food. It is a nice place to recharge. There isnt any cell service so be prepared for that. The lodge has internet. The fireplace was a nice touch
