Edmonton embraces winter and is a perfect start to your winter adventure in The Rockies. The city has a youthful feel to it, with its hip start-ups and cool cafés. Jasper is known for being one of the most picturesque, and the natural beauty of Marmot Basin ski resort is striking.

Stop 1: Edmonton

Edmonton offers that downtown buzz that city-lovers enjoy. With world class food, friendly locals, a large choice of places to stay and lots of culture and art, the city is a great gateway to The Rockies. Enjoy sampling different cuisine in some of the city’s coolest, most creative restaurants and bars.

Day 1: Fly to Edmonton

Fly daily from London Heathrow with Air Canada.

Days 1–2: Enjoy Edmonton

Enjoy time exploring the city before your adventure continues in The Rockies. If you feel the need for shopping, head to West Edmonton Mall. This Edmonton icon houses 800 stores and services, 110 eating establishments, 9 themed attractions, spas, a dinner theatre, fantastic nightclubs and a full-scale casino — all under one roof. If you have time, try and catch an ice hockey game and cheer on the Edmonton Oilers at Rogers Place, or try your hand at ice skating al fresco next to City Hall. Alternatively you could simply relax, explore downtown and visit the local breweries.

Day 2: Drive to Jasper

Drive 4 hours from Edmonton to Jasper.

Stop 2: Jasper

Jasper features some of the most beautiful, untouched wilderness in the world. If you're into outdoor activities, Jasper is an adventurer's playground. If you like to relax, there's no shortage of quiet activities for you to enjoy, with spectacular views on all sides. Surrounded by the dazzling snowy peaks of the Canadian Rockies, hit the slopes at Marmot Basin ski resort, discover the frozen waterfalls and shimmering ice formations of Maligne Canyon, and search the frosty landscape for local wildlife. Then at night, marvel at the awe-inspiring dark skies.

Days 2–8: Enjoy Jasper

Just 30 minutes drive outside Jasper, you can experience the world-class ski resort of Marmot Basin. This is incredible skiing in a landscape so unbelievable you’ll want to take off your gloves and pinch yourself. The slopes are mostly unpisted and lead through the trees, where you’ll enjoy champagne-powder snow so soft it makes falling over fun! After your adventures in the snow, the quaint town’s cosy pubs, restaurants and locals offer a warm welcome. Jasper’s got brewpubs, cafés and restaurants that serve up local game like bison, so you just know it’ll make the perfect basecamp for whatever you get up to in Jasper National Park.

Day 8: Fly home

Enjoy a final morning in Jasper before driving back to Edmonton Airport for flight home with Air Canada.
