Holiday Inn Select Montreal Centre Ville

Montreal, Canada

The hotel

Taking inspiration from its Chinatown-hugging location, this hotel may be mid-Montréal, but it’s got touches of the Orient about it. It’s certainly apparent when you’re dining on dim sum at Chez Chine, where the hotel’s Asian-meets-Continental menu is served up in a setting complete with Koi fish pond, bridges, and pagoda — they’re also the backdrop for the hotel’s Lotus Bleu lounge bar. A block from Old Montréal, Holiday Inn Montréal Centreville is comfortably close to many of the city’s most-talked about attractions and dining venues, and is just over the road from Palais des Congres-Convention Centre. Once you’re back from exploring, you have your pick of relaxing activities, with a heated indoor pool and whirlpool, a complimentary fitness centre, free WiFi access and the Lucky Water Spa all vying for your free time.

Although I've always known that any Holiday Inn is a great choice if needing a place to stay, this stay was truly the best hotel experience I have ever had (and agreed upon by our entire group). Although we weren't originally planning to stay at this hotel when we were planning our trip to Montreal, they did get us out of a terrible situation after another hotel in town cancelled our room without notification, effectively leaving us stranded. This hotel was the first I called and was so glad I did. The gentleman I spoke to on the phone was polite and accommodating, and got us set up with a room that night without issue. Upon arrival, we were greeted at the front desk by Chrissy, who was extremely pleasant and gave us recommendations on where to find some food (we had just drive over 12 hours) and advice on the must sees of Montreal. Our room was very spacious and extremely clean, and throughout the rest of our stay housekeeping was very prompt in getting us anything we needed. The decor throughout the hotel is beautiful, with a highlight for us being the fish ponds (very peaceful and relaxing after a stressful day of travelling!). The location is excellent, just across from the Metro which has many restaurants and shopping, and a very short hike to Old Montreal and the Bell Centre. Although parking is a little pricey at $28/night, it is well worth it as it is an underground garage where you know your vehicle will be safe. Overall, our experience at this hotel was superb, many thanks to Chrissy, the nice gentleman on the phone and the rest of the hotel staff for saving a trip that might have otherwise gone down the tubes, we will definitely be back very soon! I usually love my stays at holiday inn when I travel but this hotel was not up to the standards I’m used to . There was no microwave oven in the room so I went to the front desk and I asked him if they could put one in the room they said no they don’t do that, I asked them where the safe was in the room because I travel with jewelry and other valuables that I need to have locked up and at my convenience the ability to have them, they said no they don’t have any. They were not very polite they were not very nice. They told me they had various saves behind the reception desk downstairs not very convenient. Then I went into the dining room to have breakfast at a cost of $22 for eggs and bacon the money was not the issue the bald Chinese waiter came running over as I sat at a table for four as I am a big guy(fat) .there was no business that day it was very slow and he came up with a very bad attitude and started to loudly talk down to me and tell me that I could not as a customer sit at a 4 top table and that I must use a two top table I look to my left I look to my right it was 20 people in this restaurant and the seating capacity was about 200. I told him not to tell me what to do he was very rude and it was very disgusting and unprofessional. And because of this I might just go stay with Hilton Hotel so I travel. Read less

We stayed here for 3 nights last weekend, in a two queen room. We'd absolutely recommend this hotel. We arrived quite early--around 9:30 am--because of an early flight. We thought we'd just drop our bags and come back, but because I'm an IHG member, they were able to give us early checkin. Awesome! (Honestly, I have all the loyalty cards--can't remember the last time I used my IHG membership, but it was totally worth it.) We were checked in by a lovely woman whose name begins with Ph--I can't remember the rest, but we had a conversation about her home in Laos. We also got very good service from Pierre on the front desk. Note also--if you use a corporate rate, be prepared to prove your employee status. I don't carry business cards anymore, so we had to get creative. More than worth it for the discount I got though. The room was clean and in good nick. The bed and bedlinens were great, and so comfy. Bathroom was larger than average, though the towels weren't as nice as the bed linens. We had what I thought would be a noisy location near the elevator, but we only heard noise a few times, and never when we were trying to sleep--even though the hotel was full all weekend. The hotel's location is really, really great. On the edge of Chinatown (TOO MANY great restaurants to choose from!) and just a few steps from Old Montreal. The Place d'Armes metro station is literally across the street, and we also used the buses heavily (St Laurent and St Urbain stops, great routes for tourists.) The room has that updated steel-grey kind of palette, which I find a little depressing, but it seems to be everywhere. And it was, as I said, in good shape. My only niggling complaint is that I couldn't get the drapes to stay closed fully, and they were a wee bit short, so light crept around them in the morning. Read less

Never book here or with holiday inn, our reservation was accidentally sent to this hotel and they refused to refund our money an hour after the booking was made. Poor customer service and disgusting hotel.

After years of staying here, I was back in Montreal and wanted to see the renovations and the new hotel. Great nice welcome to start - acknowledging my Plat status and thanked me for my business. Gave me a nice upgrade to a suite. Well, if I knew the suite was so big and lovely I would not have left so early - 5am! Nice layout - its like a one bedroom apartment, huge 1.5 bathroom, nice comfy bed and a nice view to the Old Montreal area. I only wish they had big TV in such a big flawless room. What I liked here was the warmth and sincerity of the front staff. I think they should all take a trip to the HIE in downtown Calgary and train the staff and management on to focus on elite guests and all guests and not focus on credit cards as the first sign of welcome! Thank you all for a great short stay. Read less
