The service was excellent from the moment we parked the car in front of the reception, to the check-in and room. Very well appointed, even if some services were not available due to Covid-19 restrictions. Honestly, one of the most comfortable beds we’ve ever slept in. We only had a drink at Henri Brasserie (which were not only beautiful but very well executed). Next time, we will have a bite to eat. A truly great stay which made us want to stay here again sooner than later. Read less

My wife was most pleasantly surprised and I was very impressed with the level of work they had put into this preparation. The tray of mini desserts was astounding. The room was beautiful with high ceiling - in other words, fantastic. BUT, the following morning we were entertaining for breakfast and it became apparent we would be missing the check out deadline by 15, 20 minutes. I went to front desk and asked for a 30 minute extension, only to be told, in a most off-putting manner: that'll be $75 - really? We had, or were about to spend over $600 at the hotel and I found this approach to business very unprofessional. Won't be returning and won't recommend. Read less

After our early March school break vacation to Italy was cancelled due to COVID-19, we switched gears and headed North to the Adirondacks and a couple nights in Quebec. We booked two nights at Hotel Birks and enjoyed a restful, cozy stay in frigid but friendly Montreal. Hotel Birks has a convenient central location, walkable to Old Montreal, Mont Royal and Museum district. The granduear of the renovated department store made for a unique setting. Our room on the 5th Floor was very clean and comfortable with a gas fireplace and crisp linen comforters. Our stay was enhanced by the added treat of the deligthful concierge, Luigi, who graciously endulged my desire to practice my French and offered helpful selections on attractions for our brief stay. After the dissapointment of our cancelled trip to Italy, we were restored by the warmth and welcome of our sophisticated neighbors to the North. Our two night visit was just un amuse-bouche. We look forward to returning to Montreal and would recommend Hotel Birks. If there was one disappointment, it was the hotel gym, which was small and gloomy. But the dour basement gym prompted my husband and I to escape to the outdoors and walk/run up Mont Royal Park (designed by Frederick Law Olmsted of NYC Central Park fame), which was a glorious wonderland full of runners, nordic skiers, sledding kids, skaters, and casual walkers. The Doormen & Front Desk staff are always very warm & friendly, and most of them go above & beyond to make you feel special when you arrive. The Spa is relaxing, and you leave it feeling pampered, and the Bartenders in the lounge pride themselves on making unique, and delicious cocktails. I always look forward to landing at Hotel Birks Montreal where I receive a warm welcome from Melodie & the rest of the terrific hotel staff! Read less

The location was amazing, we would definitely return for business or pleasure. There were a few negatives, service at breakfast was very slow, I sat down for 10 minutes without anyone serving me so I left before even being served. But the staff at the restaurant were all great, perhaps they were just short staffed that day. The gym is an absolute dismal, I was actually surprised for a hotel of that calibre that they didn't have a better gym. Sadly, we were woken by some heavy construction noise on the Saturday morning which was annoying. It would have been nice if the fireplace could stay on longer than 10 minutes. We had to get up every 10 minutes to switch it back on. Aside from the gym I would definitely recommend this hotel. Read less
