The hotel

These designer downtown digs are spot-on for the style-conscious traveller. Striking yet refined, it’s been stamped with the AAA 4-Diamond badge, so you know you’re staying somewhere smart. And you’ll see it for yourself as you check in to your glam guestroom, dine at its trendy restaurant, or work out with city and pool views in the bijou 24-hour fitness room. With its soaring floor-to-ceiling windows, Bistro L’Aromate has enough French fancies on its menu to give you a taste of the east coast’s Gallic pedigree, evolving from a lively social stamping ground at lunchtime to an intimate hidey-hole come evening. Le St-Martin Hôtel Particulier may be bang in the buzz of Montreal, but you can escape it all among the mini palm trees by its heated outdoor pool, where the tropical twist sits in contrast to the skyscraper skyline views.

My husband and I spent a couple of nights here in October, as part of a fall foliage trip to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary. We actually stayed at two hotels while in Montreal- this one and one in the Vieux Montreal district. This was the better experience overall. You are an easy walking distance from the Musee des Beaux Arts and Mont Royal park which, (if you have the ability to climb a bunch of stairs), has an awesome little hiking trail that leads to a spectacular view of the city. You are also walking distance from many restaurant choices, but a fantastic restaurant is right there at the hotel! On a Saturday night there was a live jazz duo, and they were really talented and raised the ambiance to the next level. The food was excellent- plus they gave us a voucher for a discount at check-in, so it was also a very reasonably-priced delicious meal. The lobby is beautiful, as are the rooms. I would definitely recommend upgrading to the Panoramic Suite. The city view is romantic and fun- and we could also see a sliver of Mont Royal park which was showing autumnal foliage, so that was a sweet bonus. The bathroom was gorgeous in the Panoramic Suite. I love a good soaking tub and this one did not disappoint. The hotel was generally very clean and the fixtures and details in the room were really modern and beautiful. The bed was exceptionally comfortable. My husband and I both slept very well. The only room drawback I found was that there are no suitcase racks and no microwave, which are pretty standard things to expect- the suitcase rack was an especially weird thing to find missing, but I called the front desk to see if our room was just out one rack and was told they don't have them. Ha! I was surprised by that. They do have Nespresso machines in-room though, and that was a nice little treat! I will say that the front desk staff was very courteous in every interaction, as was the waitstaff at the restaurant. Everyone spoke English perfectly, so I had to go elsewhere to brush up on my French! (Haha) Overall we had an excellent experience and would certainly consider staying here again when we return to the beautiful city of Montreal! Read less

Spent one night for a family getaway and this hotel was wonderful. Great location and extremely accommodating and friendly staff. Breakfast was also delicious. It's a boutique hotel, so I would think twice with very young kids. I highly recommend this hotel when staying in this vibrant city.

Besides, for those interested, you can sit in the bathroom and watch the large TV in the room, as the wall between the bathroom and the room is French doors. Something to enjoy after a full day of walking. Read less

The hotel is conveniently located right near the Metro and in easy walking distance to Centre Bell, McGill University and Old Montréal. There are also an endless selection of restaurants in the surrounding blocks. Our room was comfortable, with in room Nespresso and complimentary water on check-in. The only drawback is that there is street noise which isn’t muffled by the windows (we were on Floor 7). But we were able to get a good nights sleep regardless. Would definitely stay here again. Merci! Read less

This is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. It truly felt like home. We arrived to our room with soft music playing and the lights dimmed. The bed was so comfortable. The attention to details and the luxury of this little gem, will being us back again. Thank you for a great anniversary weekend to all the wonderful staff
