This hotel is situated within an easy 5 min. walk to downtown St. John's. The rooms are large and the bathrooms are updated and new. One mattress needed replacing for sure but other than that, no complaints. The restaurant downstairs is great for breakfasts - lots of choice but meals are expensive. Staff as usual in Nfld. are friendly and… Read more

The JAG Hotel is so amazing, from standing outside to the inside, it only gets better. At the door you are greated by a very respectful doorman. The mood that hits you as you enter the foyer is so relaxing. The restaurant is second to none. The staff cannot do enough to help you, thank you, they make you feel apart of their own family. More of a 1 star vs 5 star hotel. Dirty towels and cups left in room first day of housekeeping, room not vacummed second day of housekeeping. Concierge was on holidays for first day with no replacement, next 2 days was never there...v busy parking cars. Not sure what the two doormen were doing and why two people required to open a door when no concierge and housekeeping is evidently so short staffed. Reflective of "no clue" management and concern only with outward appearances. Management attitude reflective of "could care less. Actually sent a housekeeper up with me to verify if in fact room was not vacummed...which she did. Nothing like insinuating your guest is a liar. Subsequent to this she was going to "open an investigation". No apology given or effort to make things right. Email delineating substandard service sent to upper management of chain. No acknowledgement or response given. Reflective of the "we really don't care" attitude experienced. Rates at this hotel way too high for level of physical property and dismal attitude of staff. Put a damper on our experience of St. John's and Newfoundland, not to mention our hard earned vacation Read less

We arrived quite early and surprised that our room was ready. The staff was so friendly, from front staff, doormen and cleaning staff, first rate. Rooms are large, clean and quiet. The hotel has a great location to explore St. John’s. Highly recommend this hotel.

Check in is 4pm and we arrived early at 3:15. We had booked 2 rooms and neither was ready for an early check in. No problem we went into the bar/restaurant area for a drink. 4pm came and went and still no room ready. We had reservations at 5 for screech in and no room to change and freshen up after a long day of travelling. At 4:15 we finally… Read more

No problem we went into the bar/restaurant area for a drink. 4pm came and went and still no room ready. We had reservations at 5 for screech in and no room to change and freshen up after a long day of travelling. At 4:15 we finally got into 1 room which had to work for 5 of us. We never got into our second room before having to leave. Not impressed with front desk staff or management that couldn’t get us checked in on time. Disappointing considering the rooms were quite nice and the front doorman was extremely friendly and welcoming. Will stay at the Delta next time. Read less
