The hotel

They say it's all about location, and this downthrown pad puts you just a stroll from the hilltop Citadel in one direction and the harbour and Historic Properties in the other, with plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment on the way. Stayed two nights attending a wedding. We had a king room which was large and well appointed. The wedding, reception, and after party was in The Bluenose Room on the 8th floor, which has a stunning panoramic view of the harbour. The reception dinner was excellent and the DJ suggested by the hotel played a great selection of tunes tailored to the crowd, both young and old. On the negative side there were a few problems checking in for some of the party - rooms not ready, confusion on reservations etc. which took some time to rectify - one of our families waited nearly an hour after the three o’clock checkin for their rooms. There are no bell staff (the one staff member who handles the valet parking does help if not otherwise occupied, but is little help when it is busy)so be prepared to humph your own luggage unless you can snag a luggage trolley. The in room A/C units are very loud, particularly the compressor when it kicks in - I strongly suggest ear plugs or turning the unit off overnight! The overall impression of the decor is that it is a bit dated and a little tired. Read less

The Hotel Halifax formerly known as the Delta Halifax is now an independently owned property. Staff were very friendly and efficient. They did whatever they could to make our stay comfortable. From a last minute room change to afford us a better view to a couple Of slices of Lime for a corona in our room. Very happy with the whole experience.

Great location right across from the ice cream shop. The staff was friendly and helpful in recommending places for dinner. Read less

I booked this hotel for its location and I was not disappointed. I had tickets to a concert at the Scotiabank Centre and to the Casino NS and never had to walk outside thanks to the walkways. The restaurant downstairs is very good and the breakfast buffet is amazing.

Much improved over last visit almost a year ago. Clean, well run. Excellent location and excess able parking . Good restaurant and pool, gum facilities. Indoor walkway to many other sites in Downtown. I enjoyed my stay and they have a good green plan.
