Lord Nelson hotel One night stay park view suit Tried for early check in, hotel suggests I wait for them to call me, nobody calls me. Needed early check in because hotel is on a street and a parade was going right by the hotel, we were staying at hotel during a parade and the police had to close the street. Hotel never called, was forced to drive around area for an hour before I could get close. Had to carry my luggage three streets along with various other items in 37C heat, hotel sent a bell hop to help me, even though most of the items were already in the hotel. Checked in, I requested various items for my room, and were not there when I checked in had to call down numerous times to get items. Items where bathroom accessories, towels, ice buckets, table cloth, and glasses had they brought them up prior to me checking in I wouldn’t of had to call them numerous time. The plug in the walls in the living area all broken and would not hold the plugs in place causing them to fall out, had to buy a power cord to use in plugs, hotel needs to update the park view rooms. The air conditioners was not turning on during the hottest day of the year, and had to depend on air conditioner in bedroom even though the cool air would not go past the bedroom door. House keeping did not clean the bathroom and did not take garbage away from suit door, used the bathroom first thing the next day to discover a fine film over everything of black lent only until during my shower. Which meant none of the surfaces were touched or cleaned, called down and after I told them I had already used the shower they state they could send somebody up to clean the bathroom even though I’m checking out ??!! There is a window in the bedroom, it faces another room against the hotel, had to close my blinds numerous times because people were looking into my suit from the room over, very rude and I had no privacy. Other then that, room has nice view, staff were helpful when calling down numerous times to request items that should of already of been in the suit. Asked for late check out, after discussing for how long, they then threatened me that if I stay any longer I would be charged a 20 dollars fee per hour of my stay after the late check out as if they did not want me to come back. I recommend and this suite, but not for a particular event or holiday as it can be hectic and un organized. The room consists of two rooms and a bathroom, the bathroom is off the bedroom but understand there’s a window over looking the street and if u forget to pull the blinds it has also zero privacy. Friendly and accommodating staff (especially if you, like me, are about to drive off and realize you've left your raincoat and blazer up in the room); good pub / restaurant in the lobby. The Lord Nelson is centrally located to downtown Halifax and the waterfront - only 15 minutes walk away. Many fine restaurants and other fast food locations are within a few blocks. The public gardens - just across the street were a wonderful place to walk and relax.

First of all, the hotel is very well located and the lobby & restaurant is very fancy. We received an old room witch was not worth 4 stars at all. The hotel pet fees were also very expensive, 60$. Most of hotels like hilton or 4points dont even charge pet fees. The parking fees are also +-25$ per day... So overall it makes an expensive stay, I… Read more
