The hotel

The interiors of this urban sanctuary are high-design and high-spec, with bold yet beautiful décor, and gadget-stuffed guestrooms featuring free WiFi. Head outside and your surroundings are equally satisfying, with Ottawa’s must-visit checklist of sights in strolling distance, including ByWard Market, Parliament Hill, and Rideau Canal. I stayed at the Hotel Germain during a Girls Weekend with my mom. We had booked our trip weeks prior which ended up aligning with the weekend when the COVID-19 pandemic was really starting to ramp up. Despite everything going on, the staff maintained an extraordinarily high level of customer service standards: genuinely friendly, helpful, and accommodating, to the nth degree. The cleanliness of the room and facilities was IMMACULATE and we both felt very safe and comfortable. We loved the simplistic design of the rooms and the beds were REMARKABLE. The in-house Norca restaurant was... just... WOW. Such delightful and deliberate pairings, and food that was simply melt-in-your-mouth delicious (the Atlantic cod + maple syrup– to DIE for). The waitstaff went above and beyond for us and genuinely seemed like they loved their jobs. From the restaurant food, to the room, to the hotel staff, the most obvious quality we noted was attention to detail. I am genuinely SO impressed and I will forever remember this hotel as being one of the best I've ever stayed in. Unfortunately we weren't able to enjoy the spa due to the timing of the pandemic, but we eagerly await our return when this is all over! :) Read less

The hotel itself is really nice and very well designed. My room was comfortable and had a great king sized bed. I had a decent view and the desk was well laid out to get work done. The wifi was very good and I had no issues at all. I had multiple meals in the restaurant and the food was good every time. I would certainly stay at the Hotel Germain again. There was a little road noise from my room, but the hotel provided a bluetooth speaker to cure that. A great stay! Read less

Stayed here several times, and the hotel is great. Nice decor, modern features. Pillows super comfortable. Like the eco friendly amenities, but appreciate that they also include lotion, which some hotels that switch to the refillable bottles forget. Like the eco friendly amenities, but appreciate that they also include lotion, which some hotels that switch to the refillable bottles forget. Helpful and friendly staff, and a great included breakfast - unusual for many downtown hotels, but it was great. great selection - definitely more than just the continental they advertise. Even the location was nice, in what is the restaurant in evening So want to keep coming back here, and tried, but... Major problem was the traffic noise. Unfortunately the hotel is situated between two main roads, which means that there was 18 wheelers reving their engines all night long, even on a relatively high floor. Have tried now three rooms on different stays, all noisy, some a bit better than others But this will be the final stay. If you are a sound sleeper - by all means come, it is five stars, but if you will be kept awake by traffic noise, think twice. Read less

Pros: Large, Modern & Well Appointed Rooms, Great Location, Great Service Cons: Generally on the higher price end for Ottawa This hotel is definitely sets itself apart. The bedrooms are large, with a unique layout, and modern decor. It feels very high end, not only in the rooms, but though the entire hotel. The restaurant is located on the 2nd floor (which is a bit unusual, usually its in the lobby) was great for breakfast. Location is perfect for exploring Ottawa, within walking distance to most attractions, restaurants and shopping. The hotel is on the higher price scale for Ottawa, but in the end you get what you pay for! Read less
