It was only a ten walk walk at most down to the small Quebec township, and five minutes up into the township of beautiful Old Quebec. It was is a good area, very safe, not to busy, unfortunately there were a lot of roadworks outside the Hotel so it wasn't easy to cross the road. The restaurant in the Hotel was good, and they had a veery good Gluten Free menu. It rained two days and the Hotel provided umbrellas, everyone was very helpful, the only thing that took at bit to get used to, was which way to turn coming out of your room to find the elevators, it was a little bit of a rabbit warren. There is nothing particularly remarkable about this old concrete hunk of a hotel. It's in an OK location up a steep hill from St-Jean Street, but there are quite a few of better quality that are closer to Old Quebec. The hotel was renovated a few years ago and so the carpets and furnishings are the same as a bunch of other Delta Hotels across the country, except this one appears to have been early in the reno cycle. The restaurant food is OK but the menu selection (which is the same as room service) is limited. I would stay here again, but it wouldn't be my first choice. Read less

It's in easy walking distance for all the sights of the Old City and the rooms are fairly generous with their space. Unfortunately, it's really run down. Carpets in the hallways are torn and worn out. It has a small unattractive lobby area. The beds are soft and spongy. There are no concierge services! Really? In a tourist city? if you want help finding something you have to talk to the bellmen. When we asked about directions at the front desk, the clerk said she was bad at directions and offered no alternatives. The service there was not any better. The maid failed to replensh our coffee/tea settings and the room clock was set at the wrong time. It's really a poor excuse for a Marriott. We were very disappointed. Read less

A day before checking into this property, I read an article about how much the writer enjoyed personalized attention upon check in. When we arrived at this property, both desk clerks were busy. Soon, Bryan (I hope I remember his name correctly) put down his phone and gave us a friendly smile. He used our names, found us a wonderful upgraded room, and gave us information on the property and surrounding area. He made us feel so very welcome. Thank you Bryan. Our room had an outstanding view of the city and harbor. The hotel is walking distance to the old city and there are several very good restaurants in the area. There is a parking fee but, depending upon usage, it is cheaper to pay the lot fee rather than through the hotel. Our room was clean and quiet. The only downside is that there were many cruise ship guests waiting to go onto their boats. Many of these people were loud and not respectful of the other guests or the hotel staff. The restaurant was overwhelmed and they turned us away one evening in spite of empty tables. That was ok because we walked a block away and had one of the best dinners of our trip. I would have rated this hotel five stars if it hadn't been for the cold eggs and restaurant situation. Read less

This hotel is unfortunately beyond help, mostly because of its very awkward architectural choices. It has bland industrial style of late sixties, seventies. The ingress from the road was bad enough, and I still had to leave my car somehow in a driveway, not a legit parking spot. So my wife had to stay in the car while I checked in. Because of hotel's odd architecture, the check-in is on the second level reachable only by escalators. There were several long lines. I selected "Marriott Elite" line, which actually moved slower than other lines. Every guest somehow had very complex, protracked check-in dialogs with receptionist. When it was my turn, they raised an issue that registration was under my wife's name (same last name!) and demanded her presence even though I held both mine and her Marriott visa cards! In my travels I've checked-in dozens of times with Marriotts when traveling solo without my wife presence and never an issue. But in Quebec city apparently that raises an issue and suspicion. Fortunately, this time my wife accompanied me and I only had to run down escalator outside to get her. I wonder how it would play out if I were by myself. Could be a total disaster. All in all with lines and ID verifications, it took about an hour to accomplish check-in. The room was very spacious albeit very oddly shaped in-line with this hotel architectural choices. The worst was yet to come. There is some major road construction happening on the street facing hotel and every day since early mornings there was throbbing jackhammer noise. Unbearable. Escaping the hotel was the only reprieve. That construction, by the way, also obstructed a convenient way to leave hotel for the sightseeing as crossing the street was impossible and we had to make detour just to get to the other side of the street. The road construction is temporary. Bad architecture can not be undone. But poor service and check-in experience is something that at least theoretically is possible to address. Read less
