Hotel Le Germain Quebec

Quebec City, Canada

The hotel

Coolly contemporary and yet utterly classic, Le Germain Québec resides in a century old building in the city’s Old Port district. They’ve preserved the hotel’s historic shell, nurturing its stonework and original carpentry to create a space sympathetic with its surroundings, but they’ve filled it with slick mod-cons from the 24-hour fitness hub to your guestroom’s Nespresso® coffee machine and Bose® stereo system. They’ve adorned it with a masculine monochromatic décor that transports you from your historic setting to the modern world the moment you step inside. Little extras like complimentary WiFi access and free deluxe Continental breakfasts turn it from a hotel into a home, while spaces like the patio — a secret garden giving you an intimate spot for drinks — turn it into somewhere truly unique.

The Hotel is super modern inside has a great ambiance and a very nice breakfast included. Only draw back this time was the parking, as opposed to a previous reviewer, Not free, but a charge of $ 27.50 a day. Unfortunately my car sustained some scratches on the front bumper. To go through all the pains and the bureaucracy to get it taken care off, I agreed the hotel just waiving the $ 27.50 parking charge. LOL Read less

The hotel offers easy valet parking (for a fee), along with a good continental breakfast (great pastries, cereals, etc.). We visited in the summer, but can imagine it being cozy in the winter, too. The hotel was converted out of historic buildings, so each room is slightly different. Ours was a standard room and was remarkably spacious with comfortable furnishings. Staff was friendly and helpful. Although the hotel is priced as a luxury hotel, it's not an overly ornate or posh hotel (nor is it trying to be with teams of bell boys and the like)--i.e. they'll help you with your bags if you ask, but there is no doorman and assistants racing about to carry your luggage. I would liken it more to a high-quality B&B. The best feature of the hotel is the quiet. Quebec was packed with throngs of tourists, but the location of the hotel (on a quiet side street) ensured quiet respite at the end of the day. Read less

This was a special birthday and having stayed at this hotel last year, I booked 4 months in advance to secure the same room we had before. The Staff are excellent, the room was perfect, the breakfast was tremendous. We definitely will be back again next summer. I STRONGLY recommend that the Le Germain be part of your trip to Quebec City

We totally enjoyed this hotel. The location on the lower level of the city was great. We totally enjoyed this hotel. The location on the lower level of the city was great. It’s close to many attractions- some great restaurants, a museum, and shops, but not right in the middle of all the traffic and noise of the upper level. Staff was outstanding, continental breakfast was fabulous and the room was very nice, room was large. The one small negative concern we had is apparently being addressed. The rooms have wooden blinds - that don’t do much to keep out the sun, but the staff said the rooms are all getting new black out curtains. Awesome. Certainly hope to return. One suggestion is to ask for a room that faces St. Pierre Street, which is quiet. There was a party of some kind at the building on the other side of the hotel that was quite loud on Saturday night.
