Hotel Le Germain Quebec

Quebec City, Canada

The hotel

Coolly contemporary and yet utterly classic, Le Germain Québec resides in a century old building in the city’s Old Port district. They’ve preserved the hotel’s historic shell, nurturing its stonework and original carpentry to create a space sympathetic with its surroundings, but they’ve filled it with slick mod-cons from the 24-hour fitness hub to your guestroom’s Nespresso® coffee machine and Bose® stereo system. They’ve adorned it with a masculine monochromatic décor that transports you from your historic setting to the modern world the moment you step inside. Little extras like complimentary WiFi access and free deluxe Continental breakfasts turn it from a hotel into a home, while spaces like the patio — a secret garden giving you an intimate spot for drinks — turn it into somewhere truly unique.

Everything favorable written about Hotel Le Germain in prior reviews is true and very well-deserved. We visited Quebec City in December for three days to, among other things, check out the Christmas markets. Here’s our assessment: 1. The hotel’s location near the port and Old Quebec is GREAT. Good restaurants, art galleries, shopping in Rue du Petit Champlain, the Museum of Civilization, Notre Dame des Victoires, the Place Royale, and the Corridor du Littoral (a walking, jogging, biking path along the St. Lawrence) are nearby. We parked our car, walked everywhere, and didn’t get back in the car till we left. 2. The facility is GREAT. We were there in December, and loved sitting by the lobby fireplace on comfortable couches in late afternoon or evening. Guest rooms are spacious, clean and well-appointed. Some rooms have river views and others have views of the city. On the 7th floor, both of these views were lovely. 3. The staff is GREAT. (Yes. That’s the 3rd time in a row I have intentionally used the same adjective.) We found everyone (concierge, parking, cleaning, food/beverage servers & front desk) to be gracious, warm, friendly, knowledgeable, helpful and professional. The staff’s dining recommendations were spot-on. Really... the staff can’t be beat. 4. The inclusion of breakfast is a nice, convenient amenity. We appreciated it very much. We will definitely stay here the next time we have the good fortune to be in Quebec, and thank the staff for its kindness. Read less

Loved this hotel and location, right in the heart of old Quebec. Stay here and walk anywhere, restaurants are close all the nice spots are walking distance(just dress warm). If you stay here sit by the fire and have a drink(the bar is sort of hidden) and chill next to the fireplace. The breakfast is included so do not miss out.

We recently stayed here for a week during our honeymoon and it was the best hotel experience ever, and we've stayed in hotels on several continents. We mentioned during booking that we wanted a quiet room since it was our honeymooon, and to our happy surprise, when we arrived the staff had lit several candles in the room and had a bottle of champagne waiting on ice for us. It was the perfect start, and things stayed that way throughout our entire week. The staff were kind, courteous, and helpful with everything from amenities to advice about the city and restaurants to visit. There was no fake nice acting here, everyone we dealt with in the hotel was genuinely kind and wanted us to have a great time. Every day staff remembered us and kept asking how things were going, whether we needed anything, and how our honeymoon was going too. I'd like to specifically name Esther, Antoine, Florence, Noéme, and Jade at the front desk, who were all amazing and made us feel welcome every day, and never got impatient when we asked them questions about the hotel or city. Everyone else (we didn't get everyone's name) was amazing too. The room itself was also perfect, a nice combination of modern design with a cozy feel. The bed was comfortable and the sheets felt like sliding into a silk hug. Room service served up amazing food from a restaurant down the street for dinners, and breakfast was a beautiful selection of different foods in the lobby which allowed us to eat, enjoy a cup of coffee/tea, and be on our way each morning with no fuss. The lounge area is worked into the main floor, and gives the whole hotel a comfortable, casual vibe. It creates the perfect chance for travelers to talk with one another, and we had several great chats with other hotel guests throughout our stay. Housekeeping was also stellar, and every night there were two chocolates waiting on our pillow when we got back from dinner in the evening. I don't know what else to write. This was literally the best hotel stay we've ever had and we're already talking about going back for our anniversary. It's so comfortable I wouldn't even mind going back next year and just staying around the hotel most of the time. It's like a home away from home, and that's exactly how hotels should feel. A+ all around. Kudos to Hotel Le Germain for providing an amazing experience and setting the bar for great service and comfort. Read less

I was lucky enough to spend 2 days in the Hotel Le Germain Quebec this past week and it is by far one of my favorite hotels in Canada now! The hotel is spotless with a super comfortable lobby they actually want you to hang out in. Big couches and chairs good for socializing or reading in front of the fireplace. Lots of nooks to work on your computer and a espresso machine available 24/7 made the hotel bliss. Our room was spacious, bright and inviting but had dark wood furnishing making it charming. Bathroom was spacious with a soaker tub and rain shower. We were disappointed that we did not have time to try out the tub! Modern day amenities like lots of plugs and chrome cast made our stay very comfortable. Special shout out to Antoine who not only checked me in but assisted us with restaurant and advise about the city! Will definitely be back and will tell everyone about this fantastic hotel! Read less
