Beautiful old style hotel in a brilliant location. Found it very difficult dragging our bags up the stairs to the front desk! Obviously not a wheel chair friendly place. You pull up to Valet Parking infront of hotel and the service is excellent. Then you climb 25 stairs to front desk. Still not a deal breaker. Front desk is friendly and accommodating. Our room was on the 4th floor. This is where it goes down hill.... the elevators are SO SLOW! Getting up is a challenge. The pool is in the basement with the ice machine. Pool looked nice but what a hassle getting to the location. We were able to take stairs from lobby to pool but you can't take the stairs from the 4th floor to lobby. If you do you end up on the first floor waiting for the elevator!! So many people were very angry about this and rightfully so. It was waisting everyones time. Monday morning leaving to check out trying to get on an elevator was a nightmare. Packed like sardines hoping it didn't break down! There are only 2 elevators but they don't accommodate the amount of people going up and down. The beds in our room where comfortable. The location is good. Housekeeping doesn't come till 4pm or later. This was annoying. We had to call to get the room done at 4pm. Don't think we would stay here again. Read less

Stayed here 4 nights with my family in July. Absolutely loved the place with a few minor flaws. Check in was quick and everyone at front desk spoke both french and english. You have to walk up a flight of stairs at the front entrance so getting your bags up there can be tough unless you get the bellman to help you which we did. They have many different sized rooms and I got one of the larger sized ones which had plenty of space for my kids. Room service was really really good one night which is open until 10:00pm. The burger, fries and pizza was excellent, especially the pizza according to my son. Pool is in the lower level with a steam room and spa which is currently closed but has locker rooms to use. The ice machines are near the pool and are the only ones in the hotel. I had a rental car which we had valet service for and I learned that they often do not have a valet man outside so you just hand your keys to the person at the front desk. The location really can't be beat. Half a block from Rue St Jean which appears to be the bus street int he city. They close off a portion of the street in afternoons and evenings for musicians and small individual performances which is nice. Lots of people walking up and down the street sight seeing and watching the small shows. We did not eat Chez Boulay but it looks very nice. There are lots of places to eat nearby. Tim Horton's is right next door for a muffin or coffee with two more breakfast pastry places just around the corner (paillard and la maison smith - both good). We walked to the end of the street by the wall to the city for ice cream each night at Chocolat which my kids loved. Crepes place just a block from the hotel was good too. When I come back one day, I'd like to stay here again. Once problem was housekeeping did not really speak English at all and cleaned room very late some days. Tell the front desk you would like done sooner while you are out sight seeing and they will make it happen. Read less

Great location to everything. We would stay again and highly recommend to others. The room was clean and modern. The only bad but not a deal dreamer for us is the steps into the hotel. They did have an other entrance but a little off the beaten path.
