Promising that French ‘je ne sais quoi’, this downtown hotel is totally in keeping with Quebec’s unique French-Canadian mélange. Once you step inside, its elegant lobby would be at home in a sleek Parisian boutique hotel — while the simply dressed guestrooms come with mod-cons befitting a contemporary pad in one of east coast Canada’s most dynamic cities. The dining is just as diverse, with breakfasts featuring Canadian, American and Continental options — while its signature dining venue, Que Sera Sera, lives up to its name with a French bistro-inspired menu. Its location puts you in touch with the city’s French and Canadian roots too, right by Place d’Youville, Quebec City Marriott Downtown is just steps from Porte Saint-Jean, one of the historic and much-photographed gateways to quirky but charming Old Québec.

I spent three nights here and wish I hadn't. Other than one incredibly helpful and nice front desk staff (I wish I had gotten his name), I struggle to find anything positive about this stay. As a Platinum member I was given an "upgraded" room that wasn't anything special. The only upgrade was the view toward the old town. The room was oddly shaped and absolutely freezing; no matter how much I cranked the heat up, I was always shivering. I ended up switching rooms, though, because it was directly over a skating rink that played loud music late into the evening. Even with earplugs, I still could hear the music as I tried to sleep. When I asked about switching rooms, there was initially some hesitation on the part of the staff and I honestly wondered if they would let me switch. They eventually did move me to a smaller room on the 5th floor. My second room was quieter from a street noise perspective, but very plain and dated. The hair dryer was very cheap and not at all powerful; it took forever to dry my short hair. Although the first room had amenities like cotton swabs, the second did not. There is no lounge at this hotel, but they try to make up for it by providing free breakfast to Platinum members (I did not partake). It's also annoying that you don't get free bottles of water as a Platinum member. I think this is the first time ever at a Marriott property that I didn't get free water. On my second day the room didn't get made up. I had stayed in the room working until about noon, at which point I left until about 3:30. Unfortunately, the room did not get made up at that time. I did however hear housekeeping out in the hall around 4:00 while I was on a conference call. They were cleaning other rooms on the floor and yelling loudly from one room to another. I've never understood why hotels don't ask the housekeeping staff to keep their voices low, especially in an older hotel like this that has small rooms and almost an inch gap under the door. It was incredibly loud and distracting while I was trying to have a business call. On my last night I tried to stop by the front desk to purchase a bottle of water and soda and to inquire about a car to the airport in the morning, but there were literally 8 people in line in front of me and only one person working. I eventually gave up waiting and came back later in the evening. The lady at the front desk could not grasp the timing of the car in terms of my flight (I wanted to be at the airport at 10:00 for an 11:30 flight, and she kept suggesting an 8:00 pickup). I finally had to walk away and said I would deal with it in the morning. I did eat at the restaurant a couple times. It's not fancy, but the food was actually pretty decent. Overall, though, I will not stay here again. On my next visit I will stay at the Hilton which is just down the street. I stopped by there one evening for dinner and it seems like a much more trendy and customer-focused hotel.

This hotel was centrally locatednto the Winter Carnival and the old city. Nice, clean and friendly hotel staff. Walking distance to historical attractions. The breakfast was a nice option. I would stay here again.
Excellent hotel experience

We stayed at the Marriott Place D’Youville for 10 nights. Staff was excellent, location superb - near everything! Our favorite hotel in Québec City . Restaurant on premises was very good. Lobby area had cozy fireplaces. Unfortunately no concierge service.

Nice hotel that is on the smaller side. Rooms were well appointed and front desk staff was friendly. Location was ideal for walking around old Quebec. Would for sure stay there again if the price was right.
