Echo Valley Ranch & Spa

Clinton, Rural British Columbia

The hotel

Surrounded by some of British Columbia's most spectacular scenery, including mountains and marshlands, deserts and forest. Echo Valley is one of Canada's premier guest ranches. Riders of all levels can improve their skills, tackling a variety of trails in the wilderness. These's also hiking, biking and swimming plus some all-important pampering in the spa! A scenic 6-hour drive from Vancouver, this ranch effortlessly combines exciting outdoor activities with a world-class spa facility. Dating back to 1908, all the old structures remain, including a log house and log shed, blending harmoniously with a wide range of recent additions. There’s an indoor swimming pool, fitness centre, hot tub and disc golf course. The Thai-orientated spa offers a full range of facials, massages and beauty treatments, perfect for reviving you after a busy day trekking in the mountains! Although horse riding is the main activity, ring the changes with gold panning, 4x4 canyon tours, hiking, biking, swimming, whitewater rafting, bird watching and fly-fishing. At night, join in a cowboy cookout, listen to some native drumming and feast on gourmet food with Thai dishes a speciality!

We went horseback riding (while it was snowing - it was magical), had a Thai massage treatment, went for a bike ride through the woods, and walked the property with the farm animals (yes, they walk their pigs). Echo Valley Ranch is secluded and truly a getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle. Norm, Nan, and all of the staff are super friendly and treat you as part of the family. In addition, the mix of eastern and western influence provides a unique experience. I would recommend this place to anyone! Read less

In case anything gets lost in translation, let me be clear Echo Valley is wonderful. We had the good fortune to spend 3 nights here in May during a tour of British Columbia. Norm and Nan, together with their lovely team welcome you into their home as honoured guests. Accommodation is excellent, we stayed in the lookout lodge. Meals are taken in Dove Lodge the main house with Nan, Norm and the staff, generally with other guests unless like us you have the privilege of being the sole guests. The food is simply wonderful, 5 star food in a homely setting without the pretence of a fancy restaurant, thank you Patrick, Diane and all. The animals at Echo Valley are also valued members of the team, we played with the dogs, walked the pigs, rode the horses, thank you Anna & Ingrid. I also had a fly fishing lesson and well worth taking and then you can fish at your leisure and as often as you wish, thank you Darryl. We swam in a lovely pool, mountain biked and hiked. I think it is hard to explain just how good Echo Valley is, it is good for the heart, mind and soul. Only one negative, leaving, but as the sign says come back, and we will. Read less
