Walnut Beach Resort

Osoyoos, Rural British Columbia

The hotel

The hottest spot in Canada is home to one of its hottest lakeside hotels — the super-luxe Walnut Beach Resort. Along the private sands of Palapa Beach, which are washed by the waters of Lake Osoyoos, this design-conscious hotel looks out over the lake from its Sun Arbour Pool Terrace to its Vista Point Grill’s al fresco dining patio. Around the hotel, you’ve got glorious golf courses, family fun at Rattlesnake Canyon amusement and water park, snowsports in the distant mountains, and cultural centres and museums — but back at Walnut Beach Resort, it’s all about the water, whether you’re swimming in the lakefront pool, soaking in the two hot tubs, heading out for water sports from the hotel’s dock, or just dining with a lake view after cooking up a storm at the barbecue area, with its stainless steel grills.

Image of the Tripadvisor rating Not a family friendly resort. Emphasis is on the seniors. Manager didn’t care about our concerns.

We came to this resort for the past 6 years and this year was the worst experience. Manager didn’t care about our concerns. The emphasis was on the seniors and not the families. It feels like a senior resort not a family resort. Pool was shut down and service was poor. The maintenance man was rude and unprofessional.

I loved the hotel and location right on the lake, especially considering we got a lake view room. The place was spotless and staff were friendly. My only negative comments are they seem to be missing out on a couple of small money-making opportunities. A few items are available for sale but no milk or cream for coffee/tea. When my mum asked if she could get a cappuccino anywhere, she was told "no, the restaurant doesn't open until 4pm so you'll need to go into town" but when we went into the bar area the next day, there was a coffee machine right there, the kind that serves ready-make hot chocolate or French vanilla coffee etc. Not espresso but that would have been close enough for my mum. I'd think stocking a few more "essentials" and having that machine on all day (for a fee) would make a few more people happy. Read less

The Walnut Beach team did a great job hosting the Winemakers Cup and were very accommodating to the group's requests. The rooms and facility overall were clean and comfortable. Great to have kitchen facilities in the room.

Hot water took 5 minutes to get. What a waste of money. Toilets low, tubs high with no safety rails. We had to leave 2 weeks early because of illness. We realize we had snowbird rate but they still saved money on utilities and maid service. Beautiful suites for sure.
