Nancy Greene's Cahilty Hotel & Suites

Sun Peaks, Rural British Columbia

The hotel

You won’t just catch world-class skiers on the slopes at Sun Peaks — you’ll be their guest when you stay at Nancy Greene’s Cahilty Lodge & Suites, owned by the Olympic ski champion and her husband and Sun Peaks Mayor, Al Raine. An orientation tour of the resort’s three mountains means you’ll hit the slopes running (or skiing, or biking) straightaway and, on Sunday nights, Nancy and Al welcome you for a reception, sharing ski tips and the week’s weather forecast. They’ve created a real home to return to after days in the great outdoors, with a library with board games, free coffee in the lobby, movie nights with popcorn for little ones, indoor and outdoor hot tubs, and the comfort food dished out in their Cahilty Creek Bar & Grill, all just steps from Sun Peaks Village.

Stayed here over the Family Day weekend and boy do they jack the prices up for that weekend. For what we payed, this hotel is lacking. Decor is outdated, parking is way too limited, outside hot tub was lukewarm, inside hot tub was way too hot. Location is great, ski in and out and right in the village, short walk to everything. 2 queen rooms… Read more

We stayed here for 10 nights in March, 2019. Being from the east and not realizing it was March break for most of BC, it was a little noisy the first week. The rooms are not very sound-proof so noise from above and hallway was sometimes disturbing. However, on one extremely noisy evening, a call to the front desk was made and the staff took care of the issue within minutes. Kudos to the staff as they handled it quickly and effectively. A couple of other negatives was the cleanliness of the bathroom. A good scrub is required to remove tile mould and dirt buildup behind the door. The room is generally comfortable but the pull-out sofa was not very comfortable for sitting. Positives are, comfortable bed, nicely equipped kitchenette, great ski-in, ski-out access and ski lockers. Staff are very friendly and efficient. Would stay here again! Read less

Ski in ski out but I'd like to sleep too. Close to the lifts for skiing, but the hide a bed mattress had a few too many loose springs to be comfortable. The Murphy bed pulldown was no better. I've stayed here since it was built, and the place has a lot going for it. A little spit and polish is in order, and for the most part they have done it.

I made more calls/visits to the reception desk in 4 days than in a decade of previous hotels stays. Issues we had to get help with: lack of drinking glasses in the bathroom, coffee maker #1 not working, coffee maker #2 - no basket- not working, coffee maker #3 - not working, TV remote missing. Also the coffee maker sits on a desk in an alcove… Read more

Issues we had to get help with: lack of drinking glasses in the bathroom, coffee maker #1 not working, coffee maker #2 - no basket- not working, coffee maker #3 - not working, TV remote missing. Also the coffee maker sits on a desk in an alcove with no light - had to wear a head lamp while attempting to get all the various coffee makers to work (or not) in the early morn. Recent addtions of microwave/fridge have been crammed into a corner- microwave hard to access. The only saving grace was that the desk staff were always v. helpful. If it had only been one or two issues, I wouldn't have minded, but the cumulative effect was getting v. frustrating by the end of the holiday There seems to be no qualitly control over the rooms or their preparation? I wrote to the management (via website) about these issues after our stay - and got no response. I understand this place is going through a change in management - but they need to get on track sooner rather than later. Read less

The Cahilty Hotel has the best ski in/ski out location in Sun Peaks. As well, it is good value for money. In the past 9 years, we have stayed there 5 times, 4 times for a month or more. So it saddens me to write this review. The Cahilty is tired. It has been for years now, but what is even worse is the housekeeping. The rooms aren't cleaned properly and the daily housekeeping is a joke. The cleaning has been contracted out and there is no continuity or standards being maintained. I don't know if we will stay there again. We have started looking around for other options. Read less
