Deerhurst Resort

Rural Ontario, Canada

The hotel

Some things stay constant at Deerhurst Resort — like the idyllic setting on the shore of Peninsula Lake in Ontario’s ‘cottage country’ — but others change with the seasons. In summer you could be swimming in the outdoor pools, kayaking on the lake, or taking on the challenge of the inflatable Splash Zone water park. While, come winter, you could be using the hotel’s free cross country ski equipment, snowshoes, or ice skates to enjoy the snow-inspired fun on its very doorstep. Whatever time of year you stay, you can enjoy its location minutes from downtown Huntsville; its Amba Spa; its free Indoor Treehouse Playspace; its pool room — complete with pool, children’s wading pool, and hot tub; and the ‘eat local’ foodie experiences at its dining venues, whose menus even feature shitake mushrooms, honey, and maple syrup right from Deerhurst.

We booked for 3 night, check after the first night, the bed was great and no noise, but it end there. We found this place run down, staff not very helpful, as a Canadian Summer resort, well we would never go back. It has run down and tired place. I’m sure the virus hasn’t helped much. Great experience staying in the newer lakeside lodges. We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom lake view suite with 2 full baths. Our room was a corner suite which allowed for lake views from every room. Fully-equipped kitchen with a dining room and living room and the whole suite comes with 3 tv’s and a gas fireplace. Very clean and modern room. The… Read more

Fully-equipped kitchen with a dining room and living room and the whole suite comes with 3 tv’s and a gas fireplace. Very clean and modern room. The resort is quite nice too - although there are some things to keep in mind during covid: no house keeping during your stay, no shuttle service, limited numbers in the pool, dine in restaurants are closed except for patio and curb side pick up. 4 stars only due to the rough start to our trip (room wasn’t ready on time, lack of services available). I would definitely return here. Special thanks to Sonal (front desk supervisor) for her attentive service and for giving us this amazing room upgrade. Read less

I had a great time at deerhurst last week. The rooms were exceptionally clean, which in a covid world was reassuring. The location was really good too. Close proximity to algonquin park and the town. I went to the spa and got a mani/pedi which was nice. The restaurant was also very good. My overall experience was very positive. Would recommend.

We are repeat visitors to Deerhurst and usually find it to be a great stay, both because of the quality and value of the accommodation, as well as the natural beauty of the property in Muskoka. We have stayed in the Greens and the Summit Lodge Suites in the past, and this time opted for the Hillside Resort Homes. We are spoilt, here, with one of the larger two-bedroom units for myself, my husband and our 9 year old. It is absolutely huge, a fireplace in the living room and master suite, two separate bathrooms so we have one to our selves, and an unbelievable wrap around deck overlooking the lake and surrounded by treetops. This is not as affordable an option at Deerhurst - and they really have options for most budgets - but you do indeed get what you pay for. Plus, it is a unit that only involves one level of exterior stairs, making it great for physical distancing. We are having a great time! The summer version of the property is lovely and the COVID practices are excellent - so few people here and attentive and careful staff. They have thought of everything and update their website daily - which is in and of itself remarkable - with new policies, pool and patio openings, based on Ontario provincial guidelines and policies. Well done, Deerhurst! This is the first time I'm giving you 5/5 because I really, really appreciate how you're making people feel safe and letting us all come out of our shells after a long three months. Thank you! We stayed with another family at the beginning of March Break. We rented a 3 bedroom condo in The Greens. The space was clean, and the perfect size for all of us. The furniture in the other hand was torn with rips in both the couch and chair in the living room. This was disappointing to say the least. At $500 a night I would expect much more from… Read more
