Deerhurst Resort

Rural Ontario, Canada

The hotel

Some things stay constant at Deerhurst Resort — like the idyllic setting on the shore of Peninsula Lake in Ontario’s ‘cottage country’ — but others change with the seasons. In summer you could be swimming in the outdoor pools, kayaking on the lake, or taking on the challenge of the inflatable Splash Zone water park. While, come winter, you could be using the hotel’s free cross country ski equipment, snowshoes, or ice skates to enjoy the snow-inspired fun on its very doorstep. Whatever time of year you stay, you can enjoy its location minutes from downtown Huntsville; its Amba Spa; its free Indoor Treehouse Playspace; its pool room — complete with pool, children’s wading pool, and hot tub; and the ‘eat local’ foodie experiences at its dining venues, whose menus even feature shitake mushrooms, honey, and maple syrup right from Deerhurst.

We had dinner at the Antler Steakhouse last night and it was fantastic! The new menu has a nice variety, and the food we ordered was fantastic. I also ordered the Caesar they have created in honour of the 50th anniversary of the drink. It’s made entirely in house, and it’s delicious! The ambiance is great; upper scale rustic. I also ordered the Caesar they have created in honour of the 50th anniversary of the drink. It’s made entirely in house, and it’s delicious! The ambiance is great; upper scale rustic. Our server, Stephanie, was warm, knowledgeable and funny. She is a great face for the restaurant. Our host, John, was so welcoming and professional. He went out of his way to answer all of our questions, and was very nice as well. We will definitely be returning customers! Read less

We have been coming here for years for our dance competitions. Sadly, this year was not the same. The upkeep is just not there. Rice in the pullout sofa bed, chipped drinking glasses, insufficient dishes in what is described as a "stocked" kitchen. The balcony door didn't lock and the front door had issues as well. The maintenance of the property is also lacking. Event washrooms were not clean, many times being completely out of hand towels and generally bad smelling and unusable. Yes, there were a lot of people coming and going but this shouldn't be an issue for a venue that is prepared for the number of people in attendance. Read less

Fourth visit here for dance competition. Always comfortable and clean. Staff are polite and helpful. Only issue I had was the washrooms on the main floor could be kept cleaner and stocked with paper towels during the competition.
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Nice resort but very lisleading pricing

May 14, 2019 J2319XVmartinh Canada

While a very nice resort overall, the pricing quoted & the overall costs varied by more than 30%. I appreciate the fact there are additional taxes, but 33.0% high than quoted?? I felt the value for money was not there.
