Deerhurst Resort

Rural Ontario, Canada

The hotel

Some things stay constant at Deerhurst Resort — like the idyllic setting on the shore of Peninsula Lake in Ontario’s ‘cottage country’ — but others change with the seasons. In summer you could be swimming in the outdoor pools, kayaking on the lake, or taking on the challenge of the inflatable Splash Zone water park. While, come winter, you could be using the hotel’s free cross country ski equipment, snowshoes, or ice skates to enjoy the snow-inspired fun on its very doorstep. Whatever time of year you stay, you can enjoy its location minutes from downtown Huntsville; its Amba Spa; its free Indoor Treehouse Playspace; its pool room — complete with pool, children’s wading pool, and hot tub; and the ‘eat local’ foodie experiences at its dining venues, whose menus even feature shitake mushrooms, honey, and maple syrup right from Deerhurst.

Breakfast at Eclipe was good however Dinner at Eclipse while good seemed a little over priced. Was able to have Lunch at Maple (only open on weekends) and it was okay. Understand that capacity limits have affected all of the amenities and activities at the resort. Only real negative I have is that all of the ice machines are out of service (municipal regulations). and had to purchase ice from the "General Store" at $5.50!, Even Provincial Parks only charge $3.00. Even in light of the COVID 19 precautions, at a minimum, 1 bag of ice should have been included in the Resort Fee. Read less

Very comfortable suite with the breakfast add-on. Stayed here for our anniversary. Check-in process was seamless vis a vis Covid-19 precautions. The resort is definitely in need of some updating. Room was comfy but really showing its wear and tear. The food at breakfast is really good and worth the add-on. Had one dinner at Eclipse and would not… Read more

2 hours from Toronto. Huge property with many options from apartments to condos. Our two bedroom unit had a phenomenal lake view with a great balcony. The waterfront area has all the toys. The two golf courses were great. Well worth the drive

Not fair to be too harsh this COVID-19 year but the facilities need some work and that's a reflection of a lack of upkeep for years. Decks deteriorating, fences broken more weeds than inter-locking stone on steps and walkways. They need to tone down their rates if this is the experience they want to provide. P.S. It's only our first night here but have been very pleased with our experience so far :) One employee stood out right away, John D. He was very helpful, polite, and when we had a small issue with a booking his response was, "I'll fix that right now". And he did! A+++ service & an asset to the resort.
