Four Seasons Hotel Toronto

Toronto, Canada

The hotel

With an emphasis on luxury, the Four Seasons Hotel Toronto occupies a prime spot in Yorkville – well-known for being Toronto’s swankiest shopping district. This is five star luxury – with a quirky twist. Fusing modernity and retro, its sleek glazed exterior and chic spa and gym contrast with its 70s-esque blond and caramel woods; and with the tan and green leather banquettes of Café Boulud, where you can enjoy refined French-inspired bistro dishes. If you fancy simpler fare, Chef Boulud also designed the menu of d|bar, which captures the cool of its Yorkville setting, as seen through its six metre high windows or from the summer terrace. The view also steals the show through the floor-to-ceiling windows of your guestroom and through the window-wall lining the relaxation pool and whirlpool zone.

We celebrated our daughters graduation and stayed at the Four Seasons for five days. We were taken care of by the whole staff in an extraordinary manner, in particular by Guest Relations Manager Julia Giannini and the Concierge Team.

We were here for a wedding and we are totally impressed. We have stayed at nice hotels around the world including the Four Seasons brand but this one stands out. The hotel staff are simply well trained, attentive, friendly and eager to help, this goes from reservations coordinator, bell service, front desk, restaurant to housekeeping. We arrived early in the morning and found out that we were arranged to stay next to our daughter, while her room was being prepared with a crib our room was waiting to be cleaned. We were advised that they would find another room for us or we could wait at the lobby or go have breakfast at the cafe and they will text us when room is ready. We went to have breakfast and before we finished, a young lady came to our table and presented us our room key and advised us that our room is ready and our luggage has already been delivered to our room. The room is nice with tons of storage space, there are so many drawers and shelves that we only used half of them, closet design is kind of strange though as it is not tall enough for hung pants. When our daughter arrived in the evening, we found out that besides setting up the crib, they placed a stuff toy inside, they also placed a diaper pail in her room. Every time we went out, the room was cleaned with fresh towels, bottle water, coffee and tea supplies. I left my sunglass case on the desk and a packet of glass cleaning cloth was left next to it. My wife left a bunch of makeup items on the bathroom counter and 2 clear plastic ziplock bags were left on the counter. We have a bunch of charge cables for out Apple watches, iPhones and iPads and a rubber cable organizer was put on the mess to tidy up the cables. When we were waiting in the bobby for our car service to the airport, someone came and asked and went out to check with all the waiting drivers to see if they were waiting for us. I know, there's no motorized TV that greets you every time you get into the room and there's no automatic flushing toilet but there is not enough good things I can say about this hotel. Read less

I’ve had the pleasure of staying at The Four Seasons Toronto on a “working” staycation during the Victoria Day long weekend. I’ll write out the detailed review below but long story short, the experience was nothing short of glorious. Welcome From the moment I reached the front doors of the hotel, there was a general feeling that I was being looked after. A gentleman greeted me at the door, offered to take my luggage, and then escorted me to the reception desk for check-in. I was never left on my own, wondering where I was supposed to go. Matt, who checked me in, was friendly and good spirited. Even when he asked me what brought me into town he seemed genuinely interested in my story. Here I did confide that I am working on finishing my novel, and I was promised a quiet and comfortable space where I can focus on doing just that. Then a lovely lady named Tea offered to show me up to my room, where she patiently and thoroughly explain how everything works, making sure I have everything I need. The same doorman appeared with my luggage literally two minutes after I entered the room. He also asked if there’s anything I need (I.e clothing that needs pressing, shoes that need polishing etc.), and then he offered to get me ice, which I greatly appreciate (I love ice in my drinks and in the years that I’ve stayed at hotels -even luxury ones- I’ve never had anyone offered to get me ice before I asked for it) The Room The room was elegant, spacious, well appointed, with lots of storage to keep it looking uncluttered. The wall to wall, almost floor to ceiling windows help to keep it looking bright and airy. The desk and task chair, which I used for hours everyday, was very comfortable and well equipped. I think anyone staying for business purposes would be happy with them. The bed was comfortable, and it came with lots of pillows already (something I didn’t know beforehand and I ordered two extra body pillows, which were worth ordering, in my opinion). The bathroom is also spacious, with a long vanity that would be useful if you’re staying with an extra guest. The bathtub is a true luxury. It is large and deep, and when I was soaking in it I just didn’t want to get out, and so I took advantage of it throughout the stay. Cafe Boulud Before I checked in I had fully expected to ensconced myself in my room, working and ordering room service all day, but I was tempted to try Cafe Boulud for brunch the next day. I had tried it once for Winterlicious years ago and recalled the experience to be sub-par, but since I was there, I wanted to give it another try. Three days later, I realized that I had dined at Cafe Boulud a total of four times during my stay, and each experience — whether it was breakfast, brunch, or dinner — was wonderful. Since I was at the restaurant quite a bit I had opportunities to watch how the staff and the managers handled tricky situations, whether it was a difficult guest, or a misunderstanding, and they handled them with gracious hospitality. Special thanks to CP, Allan, and Anton for taking care of me so well. The costs of the food and beverages were quite high but I believe them to be of high quality and generously portioned. The restaurant managers came to check on me at least once during each meal and all called me by name, which made me feel quite special indeed. On a special note, the day after I checked in, Tea had found out I made a reservation for brunch that day and she so kindly dropped by to check in on me and to ask how my book was progressing. The personalized attention to detail was outstanding, and it really did make me feel like a valued guest. Room Service I did order room service quite a few times and each time the order arrived correctly and as scheduled, in the temperature as they should be, and all delivered with a glass of ice water which I felt was so thoughtful. The staff members were all polite and eager to be helpful. The only snag here is that on the mobile app and also the iPad in the room, it says full menu is available till 11:59 PM while in fact it is only available till 11PM. The one time I ordered after 11PM, the staff did offer to check with the chef if it was still possible for me to order what I had wanted from the full menu. Sadly it wasn’t possible, but I appreciated the extra step they were willing to go to ensure I was happy with the service. The App This is probably the biggest surprise for me, and one of the most notable highlights of my stay. I can’t say enough good things about it. It lets you arrange for virtually anything (room service, housekeeping, turn down service, toiletries, mini bar items, dining cart removal, etc etc), or you can chat with someone to have them arranged for you. I did use the chat feature quite a bit to arrange for dining reservations and other things to be delivered to my room. No request was too big, and whoever chatted with me always had positive attitudes. Late checkout? No problem. A table at the restaurant in 15 minutes? Come down whenever you’re ready, the table is set up for you! Can I get my room cleaned while I’m out? Absolutely! A bucket of ice and a knife to cut limes? They showed up within 6 minutes, not only with a knife but a cutting board as well! This is a revelation for me. Gone were the days when I went out and came back wondering if / hoping the room had been serviced (most of the time it had not). People asked me: “Why stay at Four Seasons when you’re at home?”. I think it is absolutely the best reason to stay here. Granted, Toronto is a great city with a lot to offer, and Yorkville is a great neighbourhood with multitudes of restaurants and bars and shopping, but because I live in Toronto area I experienced no pressure to walk out the door to explore what’s out there. I was free to stay in and enjoy all that The Four Seasons has to offer, and it is plenty. It had been one of the most relaxing weekends I ever had. Such a pleasure, one that I am eager to repeat annually! Going out those doors, not sure how I’d survive without being called “Ms. Mika” everywhere I go but I’ll just have to find a way to cope :) Read less
