I showed up and was well greeted and checked in. The room phone did not seem to dial out properly without help from hotel operator. Nice clean, modern, spacious, and comfortable room. I would definitely stay here again.

Pros: - nice helpful people at the front desk/concierge - shopping directly under - close to where we needed to be Cons: - very noisy (not helped by a fire alarm set off by one of their condos in the middle of the night); - very average breakfast - I’ve had better at Holiday Inn. Hurried and inattentive service (took ages to get coffee, incorrect orders), surprised to see a separate charge for poached eggs (brought on an empty plate and very watery). Otherwise some really basic stuff, not that appetising. - no complimentary bottled water in the room, no slippers (had to ask), no way to turn on the light just in one area. - poor bathroom facilities - leaking faucet, very strange handheld shower aspect that randomly flailed around every time you turned it on and was basically impossible to use, no good lighting (hard to put on makeup). - some aspects of room decor were pretty shabby. This was far worse than expected for the price and not even in the same league as the lovely Le Germain in Montreal. (I chose this one based on my stay in Montreal.) Read less

The front desk and valet staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The only negative is the noise. Because of its location by Scotiabank Arena and Gardiner Expressway, there is a LOT of traffic noise.… Read more

The front desk and valet staff could not have been more helpful or friendly. The only negative is the noise. Because of its location by Scotiabank Arena and Gardiner Expressway, there is a LOT of traffic noise. The hotel is apparently aware of this as they provide ear plugs to the guests. If the noise will not be a bother to you, definitely stay here. If, however, you find it hard to sleep in these conditions, you may want to choose another hotel. Read less

Nespresso machine, large tv and fast wi fi connection.I had requested a quiet room and it was perfect. Hotel extremely clean and room service was prompt and efficient. Bathroom had a shower and a bath with molten brown products. Breakfast was plentiful with a great choice of buffet. If you wanted hot food you could pay a supplement. All the staff from reception to waiting staff were very friendly and pleasant. If you are looking for an excellent hotel that’s very central and only 100 metres from Toronto Union station then choose hotel German and you will not be disappointed. Read less
