We got valet service and they went over and above. When we arrived at our room which was supposed to have a balcony. There was no delay to switch us without any inconvenience. Our valet also went and filled the ice buckets for us. There is a restaurant on site. Quite pricey but food and service was good. Would definitely stay again Read less

They did warn us that the place was closing for renovation in January. While the few people working were very nice if they could be found, no dining options were really available over Christmas. No bar was open. And few other guests. Basically, we felt like extras in “the shining” sitting in an empty, boozeless bar. Good news: no Demons. From… Read more

From what I understand, 1-hotels is taking over from Hyatt. And while Hyatt did warn us about the renovation, we were also assured that all services would be available. I can’t tell you not to go to the Thompson (you won’t be able to in this iteration) but I can tell you my disappointment with Hyatt, which should have been more honest. Caveat emptor I know, but still. Read less

The hotel is really nice. Rooms stylish, clean and comfortable, the toiletries are great and the bed is very comfortable. The staff are great: receptionists warm and friendly, helpful and efficient. I had dealings with a maintenance guy called Randy, who was incredibly polite, friendly, helpful and got stuff done, quickly! My only (small) moan is that it seems a bit of a party hotel, and so consequentially was quite noisy. I was woken several times by other guests’ boisterous behaviour in the corridors. Other than that, great! Read less

A great experience at this hotel - amazing service. Lobby smells amazing. The beds are really comfortable and the room I stayed in was spacious - lots of room to relax at the end of the day. Front desk staff were very friendly and efficient.

I have previously stayed at the Thompson without incident. Last night we were celebrating a friends 30th birthday in the rooftop lounge. We had a large group of about 15 and purchased bottle service. Initially, we were very pleased with our table and the view. Unfortunately things declined quite quickly. Around 1:30 myself and two friends decided to go downstairs for some air. Upon reentering the hotel we were advised that we were not allowed back up. Given that there is security at the elevator in the lounge. And at the lobby. And at the front door, I would expect to be given notice that if you leave, you cannot return. Or some kind of signage at least. Otherwise I certainly wouldn’t have left without my jacket and purse. My friends as well. Or without saying bye to the rest of our group. I understand that the lounge closes at 2AM. And since the night was coming to an end I wouldn’t have minded leaving a little early. Never in my life have I been spoken to by members of staff in such aggressive and demeaning manners. I am an avid traveller and have stayed in numerous hotels around the world, and this has been the absolute worst treatment to a paying customer I have ever received . We were denied access to the roof simply to get our belongings. Apparently we were to wait in the lobby until our friends were done with the party for them to bring our stuff down. We also met a couple who were having the same issue. I honestly didn’t want to take it here but I feel I need to: Out of a group of 5 being denied entry I just so happen to be the only white person. After pleading with reception for 10-15 minutes even going so far as to ask a member of staff to go up on our behalf. I was specifically brought to the front desk to explain our situation I was issued to the service elevator by a member of staff to be escorted up to collect everyone’s belongings. While waiting at the elevator doors, another member of staff came up to me and physically got in my face as to why I was there. As she was yelling in my face the elevator doors open and two other members of staff were waiting to take me up. I was then told I needed to show her some respect because she works there and that this is a courtesy being extended to me. Well thank you for being so gracious as to allow me to leave with my coat and purse. Once upstairs I was told that now it was okay and that I could stay with the rest of the group. As if I would ever want to spend another minute in this hotel. The level of discrimination my friends faced by members of the staff of this supposedly 4 star hotel absolutely broke my heart. Read less
