Churchill Town and Tundra Adventure

There are few sights more mind-blowing than that first glimpse of soft fur against white snow as you cross the tundra in search of polar bears. After a night in Winnipeg, you’ll fly to the remote northern community of Churchill, your base for two days of polar bear tracking. You know you’re heading into barely charted territory when you need a specially constructed vehicle — your Tundra Buggy® will transport you across frozen plains. But this isn’t just polar bear territory and, as you journey through remote ice fields, you could also spot caribou, arctic fox, snowy owls, and other arctic dwellers.

Itinerary

Day 1: Winnipeg

Make your way independently to Winnipeg and check-in at the Four Points by Sheraton Winnipeg Airport. In the evening, you will meet your Frontiers North Adventures Representative for a brief orientation. Overnight at Winnipeg Airport.

Day 2: Churchill

This morning you depart from Winnipeg on an early chartered flight to the remote community of Churchill, Manitoba. Upon arrival into Churchill, you will be met by a Frontiers North representative and transferred to the town. There is ample time to discover Churchill’s personality by exploring unique shops, family-run restaurants boasting delicious regional cuisine, and a cultural museum that portrays the historical importance of the area. During your free time, be sure to visit the Parks Canada Interpretive Centre and the Itsanitaq Museum. Spend the next 2 nights in Churchill. (B)

Day 3: Churchill

Today you board a world-famous Tundra Buggy® — a specially constructed vehicle that travels across the tundra to explore polar bear habitat. Enjoy a full-day Tundra Buggy® Adventure in the Churchill Wildlife Management Area – home of polar bears, arctic foxes, ptarmigan and other unique arctic wildlife. Wear comfortable, layered clothing. Each Tundra Buggy is heated and equipped with washroom facilities and an external viewing platform. Return back to town around 5:00pm. Breakfast and a picnic style lunch and refreshments are provided. (B/L)

Day 4: Churchill - Winnipeg

Your final day in Churchill is spent enjoying another day aboard the Tundra Buggy® exploring the Churchill Wildlife Management Area. After the tour, you will be transferred to Churchill's airport for the flight back to Winnipeg. Upon arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel for check-in. Breakfast, lunch and a light meal on the plane are included. Overnight at Winnipeg Airport. (B/L/D)

Day 5: End of tour

Today you check out of your hotel and depart for home, or continue on to your next destination.

Meals: 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches on board the Tundra Buggy® on day 3 and 4, and light meal on-board the plane on day 4.

If you would like to extend your trip or make the tour part of a longer holiday, we can easily add on a pre or post night stays for you. Our Sales Team will work with you to arrange the best connecting flights and book any additional hotel stays. Simply tell us what you’d like and we can arrange it.

Accommodation

Accommodation is a mix of 3-4V graded properties. Please note some tours are up to 3 weeks in duration and there may be some nights when staying in remote locations e.g. the National Parks, when the ‘V’ rating may vary. Hotels are subject to change up until 30 days prior to departure, but you will be advised of any changes.

Journey times

Please note due to long distances covered on some of the tours, there will be some days when the majority of the day will be spent on the coach, so just sit back and enjoy the view.

Visa requirements

Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA)

Visitors travelling to or transiting through Canada by air are now expected to get an electronic travel authorisation (eTA) to enter Canada. If you’re arriving into Canada by air from either the UK or another destination e.g. the USA, you’ll need an eTA. This costs CA$7 and lasts for 5 years or until your passport expires, whichever is first. If you’re travelling by land or sea, you won’t need an eTA when you enter Canada. However, you must travel with acceptable travel documents and identification, i.e. your passport.

Your holiday will not be going ahead as planned

Due to the ongoing situation regarding COVID-19, the Foreign Commonwealth Office have advised against all but essential travel. Therefore, with known airline cancellations, the following holidays will not go ahead as planned:

  • Any holidays departing before 27th April 2020.
  • Any Caribbean holidays departing before 1 May 2020.

We’re flexible with your holiday plans

We understand you may want to change your holiday plans. You can postpone your holiday to any time before 31 December 2021, and even choose a different destination. We won’t charge you to make these changes.

For now, we do ask you not to contact us. As a priority, we are currently supporting those customers whose holidays have already been directly affected by cancellations. We will contact you as soon as we can, or if there are any further changes that could affect your holiday.

We know you’ll want to get this sorted as soon as possible, and we’re very grateful for your understanding.

You’re good to go

In line with the advice from the Foreign & Commonwealth Office UK, and known airline cancellations, all trips booked from June onwards are currently going ahead as planned.

As a priority, we are currently supporting those customers whose holidays have been directly affected by cancellations.

So, for now, we ask you not to contact us. Rest assured we are contacting all of our customers by email in departure date order to support them with options, and we will absolutely let you know if your situation changes.

Rebook your holiday


We are sending all affected customers a voucher by email that is valid for the full value of your cancelled holiday. When you rebook, we’d like to gift you with 4,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles too.

There’s no rush. You can redeem your holiday voucher on a new booking with us any time before 31 July 2020.

We know you’ll be wanting to get this sorted as soon as possible. So please look out for our email for more details of how to amend your holiday plans.

Cancel your holiday


We're sending all affected customers a voucher by email that is valid for the full value of your cancelled holiday.  

Rather than cancel, if you’d like to travel with us sometime in the future, we would still love to find a great holiday for you (and gift you with 4,000 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles as a thank you).

If you'd prefer to cancel completely, we understand. We will refund you in full. Refunds will be successfully returned in approximately 90 days.

No problem! To amend your holiday dates, just give us a call. Any amendments to your booking can be made for £50pp, and our Service Team can help you decide on dates, or even a different destination.
