This was our first venture out of town post-pandemic and we were impressed by how much this hotel was doing to reduce infection risk. Besides that, our room was simply but well laid out and appointed and the location is probably the best in town.

Very clean rooms. Very helpful check-in personnel with knowledgeable and helpful recommendations for local restaurants, parking, etc. Covid conscious. Will definitely stay here again the next time I am in Nanaimo.

Pros: - Good location in Nanaimo. This is by the water front and the view is amazing. Lots of restaurants in the area for you to pick and choose. - Large and comfortable rooms. Very comfortable bed and pillows. Comfortable desk chair with functional desk is a big plus. - Cleanliness. Maybe it is due to COVID 19, but the room looked spotless after check in. - Affordable: while booking check the Coast website. They probably will have promo codes that will undercut Hotels.com or Expedia etc. Cons: - No fridge in the "comfort" level rooms. I have stayed in sketchy 2 star motels with bars on the windows and even they had a fridge in each room. I was provided coffee creamer by the staff upon check in - and I think the expectation was for me to use creamer that's been at room temperature for 12 hrs in the morning. I went ahead and got some fresh ones in the morning so overall no big deal, but this is really unexpected. - Parking: you are going to park in the City Parkade (walkway to hotel lobby) and paying the same rate as the City Parkade when you approach the front desk. Only you are somehow paying more. Coast charges tax on this, even though the tax was already built in to the daily rate. I am not sure whether this is legal. It's 12% on a $9 fee - I did not even waste time to dispute it with the front desk. - Service: overall it's probably just an isolated incident but I had a lot of issues checking in with the Front Desk. I think it was her first day on the job. She didn't know how things worked and had to ask her partner many questions. There was no indication (verbal or written down anywhere) of where the ice machine was - I feel like this is important to mention if you are not going to offer a fridge in the room. Overall it was a satisfactory stay despite some rough edges for a one night stay. I don't think I would stay here again for an extended period given the fridge and parking issues. Read less

Great service from check in to check out and beyond as I left an item in the room which was quickly located and sent to me. I arrived early but the front desk worked to allow me to check in which I appreciated. The location is good for walking and enjoying the waterfront boat activity.

Bathroom was not as clean as i would like it to have been. Strand of hair and remnants of shampoo in tub and on wall other than that everything was great and would recommend staying during covid19 I suggested a look over before letting out to next person
