When I booked, there was only one wheelchair accessible room left, I had no choice since I was coming in for business trip. When I checked in I was pleasantly surprised with the complimentary room upgrade with a beautiful water view and spacious suite. The room and view were amazing and the staff are super friendly and helpful.

Final night of a mini-vacation, so I decided to treat myself to a little pampering. The Coast Bastion in Nanaimo more than filled that bill - and exceeded my expectations. I chose to get a Premier Suite that faces the harbour, and it was a great choice. The room is spacious and tastefully decorated. Largest flat screen TV I’ve ever seen in a hotel room all in HD. A comfortable chaise lounger or an armchair for relaxation, and an especially comfy king-sized bed. Coffee maker, fridge, glassware included. Lovely toiletries in the washroom, along with thick terry cloth robes for guests. The view from the balcony overlooks the harbour and the seaplane terminal. The service at the Reception desk was excellent: welcoming, personable, and accommodating to some special needs. Thank you to Sabrina for excellent customer service. I chose to eat in the hotel, and I’m glad I did! The chef’s appetizer special of a B.C. Brie and Morel phyllo tartlet with Pico de Gallo was beautifully prepared and scrumptious. The seafood chowder was hearty and flavourful. Canadians love our Nanaimo bars, but their signature dessert took the humble square to a higher level. They created a Nanaimo cheesecake that was light and airy, and topped with chocolate ganache. Service by Kyla was personable, attentive, and efficient. Easy walks all around the hotel to enjoy and a city parade next door. Numerous pubs and restaurants to cater to anyone’s palate. Very pleased with my choice, and I am looking forward to returning here again. Thank you for a lovely stay, Coast Bastion Nanaimo! Read less

It's my favor hotel. I stayed in a pet friendly room. The first room gave to me after check in wasn't clean. I asked to switch room. The front desk is very nice. She changed my room. This one is as clean as usual. Hotel location is great. Restaurant is slow. Ordered pasta for dinner. It wasn't good.

Super clean, fantastic staff, located to lots of shops and restaurants. I can't say enough good things about the Bastion. In fact, I recommended that some friends stay there as well as family members after I had been, and they did, and agree with my review. You simply can't go wrong. Read less
