We had a nice two night stay at the Coast Bastion while in Nanaimo for a family wedding. The room was clean and recently updated. Although not mentioned on the hotel website, the room included a small fridge which was appreciated. We had a Juliette balcony with lovely views of the ocean and harbour. The hotel is centrally located, close to downtown restaurants, the Port Theatre and the Harbour Air seaplane terminal. We had breakfast in the lobby restaurant, Minnoz, which was tasty and reasonably priced. All staff, both hotel and restaurant, were friendly and helpful. The hotel is about a 10 minute drive from the Departure Bay BC Ferries terminal and is easy to locate as it is one of the few tall buildings in downtown Nanaimo. Parking is $9 CDN. per day in an attached parkade. We would recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a place to stay in downtown Nanaimo. Read less

Great location to shops, resturants, Port Theater, and harbor front. Good parking. Very clean, Very confortable, staff very nice and helpfull. Great harbor view from room 708! Cost of $230 per night seems high. That is why i gave a 3 for value. Parking was $9 CA per day.

the staff were beyond helpful, the room was large, clean and well appointed. and had a great view of the harbour. the front end staff were quick and efficient, and people to help unload your luggage from the car. 2 elevators were speedy and there was minimal waiting.

Hotel and staff were great. Located nice and close to everything but the area is a little sketchy. Traveled with our pet and was offered supplies and treats for him if needed which was a nice touch. Room was clean and all was in working order.
