Prestige Oceanfront Resort

Sooke, Vancouver Island

The hotel

Proud and stately, Prestige Oceanfront Resort is no retiring wallflower, welcoming you with its ostentatious columns, grand balconies, waterside setting, and elegant lounge filled with plush furnishings and a glitzy chandelier. Its equally decadent waterfront patio is decked out with fire pits, so you can sit out long into the evening and enjoy the hotel’s views, which stretch out over Sooke Harbour, Sooke Basin, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. To go with hotel essentials like complimentary WiFi access and a 24-hour fitness centre, they’ve laid on an indoor pool and hot tub; the suitably indulgent Le Sooke Spa; complimentary sightseeing treats like bike hire and beach toys; and two dining options — the chic West Coast Grill and the sports-themed Vault Lounge, with its gourmet pub grub menu.

This hotel is a great place to stay in Sooke. If you want a hotel, you are limited to a few and this is the best. Lots of B&B but few hotels. Expect high rates in the summer. The hotel is pet friendly but at an exceptionally high surchage. No include breakfast like other Best Western Hotels. The Internet is slow unless you pay more. Which is an… Read more

The hotel is pet friendly but at an exceptionally high surchage. No include breakfast like other Best Western Hotels. The Internet is slow unless you pay more. Which is an issue with me. Internet at hotels is not an option. This is the way the world works now. To charge extra is criminal. In my experiences, the more a hotel charges for a room, the less is included. Read less

Lovely waterfront location in Sooke, great facility, many rooms with balconies overlooking the water. Restaurant was closed for renovations during our stay, but the Vault (Lounge) was open and had great food and drinks--we visited it during Happy Hour and were delighted with the food and service. Rooms were spacious and shower was very large with two sprays, one from wall, one from ceiling. Very nice. All in all a great place to stay. We stayed there before a couple (few?) of years ago and the property has been very well kept. Read less

Before writing this review I checked what others said and there are a significant number that mention issues like mine that are due to staff/management issues. We arrived a bit early and were pleased to be given our room right away, the manager told us a maintenance man was pressure washing the balconies. The room was very nice with a large balcony overlooking the courtyard and waterfront - nice. It was a nice day but we could not use the balcony until much later because the pressure washing was still going on. Even when finished they did not clean up and our balcony was full of debris and wet everywhere, water dripping to the deck below. I thought where is the manager who should come to check the work. Furthermore in situations like this good hotels offer to upgrade or move you to another room. It's really too bad because the place has such great potential. Location is beautiful, rooms very nice, good restaurant, lovely lobby etc etc. Read less
