Prestige Oceanfront Resort

Sooke, Vancouver Island

The hotel

Proud and stately, Prestige Oceanfront Resort is no retiring wallflower, welcoming you with its ostentatious columns, grand balconies, waterside setting, and elegant lounge filled with plush furnishings and a glitzy chandelier. Its equally decadent waterfront patio is decked out with fire pits, so you can sit out long into the evening and enjoy the hotel’s views, which stretch out over Sooke Harbour, Sooke Basin, and the Strait of Juan de Fuca. To go with hotel essentials like complimentary WiFi access and a 24-hour fitness centre, they’ve laid on an indoor pool and hot tub; the suitably indulgent Le Sooke Spa; complimentary sightseeing treats like bike hire and beach toys; and two dining options — the chic West Coast Grill and the sports-themed Vault Lounge, with its gourmet pub grub menu.

Beautiful hotel on an oceanfront setting! Lovely rooms, decor and attentive staff throughout. We stayed in a double room (two queen beds) and did not opt for an oceanfront room, but ours was comfy and clean. Great service, great food, what’s not to like! You feel like you are at a resort and don’t need to leave the property. Next time we will book… Read more

I travelled to Sooke for a short business meeting and this hotel was recommended to me. Reception: there were two young ladies working the reception desk when I arrived. One was new to the hotel and was being guided through the check-in process by the other. Both were very pleasant and had no problem finding my reservation. Room: I received a handicap accessible room that was well set up for persons with disabilities. I didn't think I requested this but had connection problems while trying to book so it probably was an error on my part. The room was clean and well-appointed, the furniture was fairly basic and showed a little wear but everything worked as expected. I had to hunt for for a glass, the coffee maker, cups and glasses were stored on a very low shelf that was hard to spot. At first I thought these items were lacking. I did use the iron and ironing board. Both were clean and functioned properly. The complimentary wifi is about average, more than sufficient to check email messages and light browsing. The restaurant is moderately expensive with good service and tasty food. A couple things to note: 1. The hotel has a very rigid policy regarding late check-out (check-out time is 11:00 AM) and adds a $50.00 charge for anything more than a 30 minute extension. 2. I booked online and although I thought I was going to the hotel site I was actually directed to hotelvalue's site. Their service charge is quite excessive in my opinion adding close to $60 to my stay. It was confusing to determine what the actual service charge was because it is reported as services charges and taxes. After comparing it to my hotel bill the extra fees were entirely service charges. Either call the hotel directly or confirm which site you are on before booking. Read less

Great location, friendly staff. Queen Oceanfront was outdated looking compared to the rooms on the website. Minimal storage for clothing, but beds were comfy. The weather was not the best so unable to enjoy the outdoor courtyard which looked comfortable.
